  1. Bet he doesn't get stones stuck in his brakes either, lol
  2. So what's your plan with that Floz? How much " wrapping" will it handle, and where? Good day all round, look what I found in the sea this morning.
  3. Got a few in the freezer, are you jealous? Boiled for 6 mins before freezing so just need finishing off in the grill one cold winters night. mind when we got a " normal sized" one the next day, grandson said " it's only a baby". Spoilt or what?
  4. Ah but now it's stick on goodies not bolt on and definitely not drilled then bolted on! What can go wrong with stickies? And to think this all started with your little granite rock.
  5. Let's see the before and after pics. if all goes wrong, nothing that a bit of gaffer tape can't fix LOL pink can be had, or maybe zebra stripes will look good? ?
  6. Nice one scoobyjoff, you know where to look next time, but maybe a once in a million chance eh? good to see a bit of banter to keep the site alive. guess I had 2 wtf moments lately ( this August) : one is Subaru related, the other isn't apart from the tow-car : a jacking point on the old forester was rusty, took the sill cover off and Wtf! all fixed now, local garage that I use that does the jobs I can't handle, did a great job cutting and grinding back and welding in new sections. secondly, pulled up the lobser pots up the other day with my grandson, after the Impreza towed the boat ( we're allowed 5 pots and 1 lobster per day on a recreational permit) and there was a monster inside, WTF is that! Cooked for tea with garlic butter, bloody lovely.
  7. Kept the last one in the glove box as a souvenir so in years to come I can show the grandkids what it was like before computers! Mind by then, I probably also need to keep a can of petrol to show them what petrol once was. Just like some of the mad max films.
  8. Nice bits of engineering there. I also like the strategically placed Chubb protected premises sticker on the window right behind them!
  9. You're so fortunate to have it rust free, and this is a job definitely worth doing now. Waxoyl is as good as anything, and if you get an old tin full to keep in the shed or garage, it's easy to check under the car every year or so and touch up any lost/ thin bits on the car with a paintbrush. Make sure the usual Subaru vulnerable areas get a good coating: e.g. sump pan, the cross bar under radiator, steel suspension arms, disc splash/ dust guards.
  10. Never seen one like it. Think yourself lucky though he is only so young and only wants the teddy. Wait till he is older and wants the car!
  11. Can we assume this replacement with a " new" activator of exactly the same design didn't just happen in Aus? How many years before the replacement becomes a risk? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-40701600
  12. Both sides now fitted and makes a big difference.
  13. Good to hear, and welcome to the forums. Keep us posted on how the diesel keeps going.
  14. Ok, you have a plan, good luck. Don is good isn't he!
  15. I hit lucky with my fronts, Impreza and forester have the same calipers so I bought a set of pagid refurbed from ECP one weekend when they had a discount, fitted them temporarily and have since rebuilt both sets of the originals with stainless Pistons etc. So I also now have a " spare set" for emergencies,. But the rears on the Impreza are waiting a rebuild now once the rain stops ( forester has ever lasting drums). Rears are harder to come by, as you know. Are you sure it's the caliper itself and not just the caliper to bracket slider pins seized? Often it's the pins that stick particularly the lower pin, and they are cheaper and so long as you can get the old one out - - - easy to replace. Take it easy till fixed. Cheers p.s. Guess you've checked with some of the scooby breakers listed on some other net site?
  16. 9pence, you were ripped off then,. Shouldn't have paid more than 7 pence! Seriously though, nice to read this fix. Well done.
  17. Is the caliper totally defunked or can you maybe rebuild it with a stainless steel piston and new seal kit from scoobyworx? Just might be an option.
  18. No prob, almost sorted. Tried my local KYB distributor listed from Dons link, ( I thought they just supplied parts to the local trade shops from their industrial estate place, but they serve " the public" as well via phone/ at their counter). A Vehicle specific set now ordered, will be here tomorrow direct from KYB, and a good price. Now for a cheap set of Spring compressors! Another little project to keep me busy.
  19. Cheers Floz and Don,. According to the link, theres a distributor just A couple of miles away, will call tomorrow to see if they supply direct rather than just to trade, and then see about availability.
  20. Hi,. Anyone recommend a supplier for KYB shocks? The places mentioned in old posts such as Camskill don't seem to supply any longer. After fitting some Pedders to the forester it's clear the Impreza needs new rear shocks so planning to go with KYB excel g ( standard?), and re- use the springs and top mounts, also assuming my GX 2005 will use the equivalent WRX rear shocks ( to be confirmed) Looking for a recommendation rather than just an e bay or similar listing please. Thanks. P.S. The opposed forces site confirms the original GX and WRX shocks have different part numbers.

  22. Cheers, best " year" of the best car ever built in my opinion ( doesn't necessarily have to be an STi but that's a bonus) Pity they don't make the same thing now, I would have ( another) one tomorrow.
  23. Lovely looking car, and nice location. Welcome. Where is it? And how long have you had the car?
