  1. Patches are just as good as a new tyre if: a - done correctly b - correct size patch used c - plugged if hole is visably open d - on a flatish part of the tyre Sillets are good for this, I know of motor bike racers using patched tyres to race on.
  2. Yeah its good reading alright - but there is quite a lot of it!
  3. First of all thanks to Dale for asking me to become RO for Aberdeen. Its something I never though I would be asked but a welcome shock. I am pleased to take on the role and am looking forward to help both bring the club forward and gather up more intrest in the local area. I have met a few Subaru owners recently who know nothing about the club so I will continue to attend various car/club meets and hopefully get some new members. Dunk I am sorry if you feel that I was given the position in an underhanded way but I was and still am unaware of the full roles/responsibilities/procedures (still reading through the mountains of threads to play catch up ) and simply took on the role as I was asked. I can assure you I gave it quite a bit of thought to make sure I can dedicate enough time to the role.
  4. Welcome to the SIDC! Most new members start with a scooby related question, where's yours lol.
  5. Well done to BalliSTIc & thefastone on their new shared position as Secretary and membership secretary. Lets hope they- a: move the club forward b: dont dress for the part
  6. Not updated this in a while as there has been so much going on. Engine gave up so I undertook my first full engine rebuild(pics and words to come!) and I have stripped out the full interior. Also on v2 of the car pc and have now housed it in a smaller black box that will go behind the dash. Also changed OS and have done away with the wifi router in favour of an Arduino xBee Wifi shield(full info to come).
  7. DS 2500 or 3500 every time for me!
  8. change it yourself, I was surprised how easy it was! make sure to skim or replace your flywheel at the same time though. I got an organic exceedy for £295 from camskill i believe they also sell the standard one for a bit less. Engine out though! I did it the gearbox removal method first time round and it was a pain. Engine out method I could do myself in an evening.
  9. your post does not state where you are from lol
  10. We use Eagle F1's on the 02 and will lose traction when pushing hard in the wet in both 2nd and 3rd gear. I just keep the power down and either play with the drift or steer into it calmly and the 4wd sorts everything. mmmmmmm drifting!
  11. Not getting involved in the argument but what you said makes no sense or am I being daft?
  12. DAMN! The person I was thinking of is a known bike thief in Aberdeen and I was hoping to give him a doing again! He stole a bike of mine a few years back.
  13. I believe that it belongs to a young man in BOD. I will enquire some more.
  14. Unfortunatly only got my hands on one of em, as I said he wont be playing piano any time in the near future.
  15. Cought two little s**** bags trying all the car doors as thay walked up my street tonight. I was sat in the car installing windows 7 and saw them coming in the drivers side mirror. I have limo tinted windows so they obviously did not see me When I got out they both crapped themselves and then ran. Long story short I got a hold of one and have his phone, he goes to RGU and now has got no hope of becoming a surgeon or playing piano. He promised that he would never walk down my street or even look at a Subaru again whilst he filled his shoe full of pee. The other one said I was dead in a very well spoken voice as he ran like a little girl, I may lose a little sleep.
  16. did you get any video of the V2 classic with the dark windows and silver wheels?
  17. Hey John - whats the cost per car?
  18. sounds like a great idea, as I will have no passenger seats by then I will see if the 02 is working by then and take that along and give it a go.
  19. Convoy sounds great to me too. I am pretty easy with plans/times etc. Happy to join up with the perth lot too although I reckon the will come from the west?
  20. Noticed Aberdeen has quite a few of the 08 plate BMW now - most are dark blue.
  21. I have good alarms on all cars, barky dogs at the window, security light and live in a street with curtain twitching neighbours. Also have CCTV and a tracker. Dont waste your time with steering locks as they will get them off in seconds and cause major damage doing so. Not good if they get disturbed and dont steal the car. I have hidden switches in my cars that through relays cause certain wires to be open, thus car will not start and even if they remove imobiliser they can not hotwire very easily. Just remember these theifs are very compitent and are experts at stealing, nothing will truely stop them it will just take them longer. Get a cheap CCTV system and point a camera at your car with a sign on the dash warning they are on camera. Or get a fake camera or two.
  22. I saw it in passing on my way to the stables the other day. Was atthe side of the road - if I am out there tomorrow I will go have a look.
  23. Underside of the car is now complete, looks good and will hopefully help protect it for years to come. Spent this evening taking all the brackets and any small parts off the engine to be powder coated this week. I will post some up to date pics and before/afters later this week. New disks and pads will hopefully be here later in the week.
  24. Well its been a while since I posted an update, been busy with work and any spare time I have had at home I have used on the car or organising/clearing out the garage. I refurbed the 4 pots I got my hands on and painted them with high temp paint. Had to do this in my office as it was way to cold to do it at home and I did not fancy doing it in the garage where overspreay may settile on my white car! After painting I baked em in the oven for 2 hours at 50 degree's C. I have also taken deliver of a brand new set of BC coilovers, just need to get a adjuster extender kit for the rears as I will be running an interior for now. Few jobs I had not planned on have poped up so will now be changing the wheel bearings due to one loose bearing and 2 very tight bearings. I have also removed the radiator and timing belt cover to change my first ever belt! Wish me luck. After the air con belt snapped it cut a line into the cover and let all sorts of crap in there. Was advised to take the oppertunity to change the belt. No biggie I have been told! Seems my plans of engine work are out of the window now as I really want to get it back on the road for summer. All the time and money I had planned on the engine has gone on upgrading or repairing everything else. This will come in time! You wait till you see what I have planned.
  25. I had 2 of my turbo studs pick up when I was removing the nuts, in the end I had to split the nuts then use a stud extractor. DO NOT BUY THE REPLACEMENT STUDS OF EBAY AS THEY ARE CHEAP BUT DO NOT FIT!
