  1. How much are you looking at paying for the evo? You can get a 2.5 cossie lump fitted for 13 grand, you'll need a ppg gear kit which is about another 3-4. I'd like to see an evo that could catch you then! Plus the engine would be 2-3 years newer than the evo. That's what i'd prefer rather than an evo if it was my money. That's an extreme case obviously but you could probably rebuild your car with new parts for evo 9 money.
  2. I would like to come to some meets but at the moment I have no money so Kidlington is a bit far to justify travelling. Once Highway insurance have paid me a shed load of money I'll be able to come to a meet on the moon if you'd care to arrange one (If they give me enough I may even be able to mod my car to a level where it could actually leave the earths atmosphere!)
  3. with any impreza you are looking for accident damage. The car seems to be priced about right for you to come in with an offer of 5 grand and if it's straight then would be a fair price IMO. The passenger door looks to be a little higher at the trailing edge but you would have to look at this in the flesh. It may be the window strip not seated properly, check the hinges to see if the paint on the nuts has been damaged.
  4. I wouldn't be happy with them personnaly. Did you get them online?
  5. Already given my car it's pressie, PIAA silicone wipers. They're great! really is a huge difference in performance over the standard ones
  6. Yep, mine has a jap rear number plate, (square one) the hanger for the plate seems to fold up into this recess?
  7. Hi mate, one was new age the other for MY98-00. There are plenty on ebay, some for your year, Search "impreza power steering pump" on ebay
  8. Grade a subaru on ebay has two for sale at £85 inc P&P
  9. Hi mate, I've been running mine on V-power with prolong octane booster. It's not that bad at £6 per bottle which treats min 75litres of fuel and I have found this to make a huge difference over V-power alone. I get mine from scoobyparts
  10. I would agree with stu. Wait till you can insure a 2.0 n/a. The four wheel drive is what makes a scoob. There is no point going from a 2.0 corsa to a 1.6 scoob. The 2.0 will normally beat your corsa due to handling in the dry, but once it starts raining, which it does in this country more often than not, you may aswell leave the corsa at home and walk! alot safer IMO
  11. My sister lives in aveyron, St surnin sur rance on the D999 (she has her own sliproad which the local Gendarms use for speed traps!) It was great the last two times in a vectra! I can't wait to get out there in the scoob. Only thing is the last time I went I put 2000 miles on my car in two weeks
  12. Why ban him? let them both stay.... Maybe they'll both sign up for lifetime membership! As was said in his other thread it shows alot of support for the site from other members.
  13. I think it has something like world rally cross, like BMX is Bicycle motocross
  14. Hi mate and welcome to SIDC! Don't feel too bad, the day I was supposed to pick my STI up I ended up in hospital after a 100+ mph smash in someone elses scoob (He was driving!) and then because I was not able to drive my mate drove mine back for me and nearly stacked it on the first roundabout we encountered! Good to learn these lessons early (and preferably in someone elses car!) Enjoy
  15. Wow that's ace, All he needs now is for someone else to build one so he can race them!
  16. Which one were you looking at? If you wanted an uprated one I would try powerstation. They have Cosworth 2.5 short blocks
  17. These tyres are not directional but asymetrical. This means that they have a different pattern on the inside and outside edges. You do not need to worry when fitting the wheels to your car, It's the tyre fitter who needs to make sure he fits them on the wheel the right way round.
  18. I've been using the RC version for a while now too and have only good things to say about it too! I'll actually be buying a copy in the near future and for once I won't mind lining Bill Gates' pocket!
  19. I have just been ringing everyone that I pay by direct debit to let them know of my financial difficulties following a car acciident four months ago to let them know my company sick pay has run out and that I may have trouble making further payments. On the whole everyone has been OK about it other than Adrian Flux. When I took out the policy in July I told them to take the payments from my account on the first of the month as before but they took it on the 27th July instead when there was not enough money in my account. My bank charged me £60. They had to cancel the agreement and set up a new one to change the payment date which didn't happen until 1st September. When I spoke to them today they told me the only option would be for me to cancel my insurance. I would not recommend Adrian Flux to anyone for insurance. I have had nothing but trouble with them and can't wait to be rid of them. All they are interested in is getting money out of people and couldn't care less when things go wrong.
  20. I've just read the first few pages of the draft legislation and it would appear that we are ok with regards 2.5 conversions for classics etc. The legislation appears to be geared towards type approval for low volume production cars to make sure they comply with euro safety and emissions laws. The 2.5 is fitted in hawkeye and hatch models which are type approved. As long as you upgrade the safety (Brakes) and emissions (Exhaust) systems aswell as the engine I don't see a problem. The Beetle boys sticking STI Engines in their bugs may have a few more problems.
  21. Hi mate just googled "final drive ratio" try it and check out the wiki result. You need to find the diameter of the two gears to work out the correct ratio
  22. Hi mate, All sections will be pretty quiet this weekend, Japshow! at santa pod. Wanted to go myself but I'm a bit skint. You will be welcome at any meets mate, whichever you can get to! I'm an Oxon scooby owner but went to my first meet last month in Swindon (the sun inn) and the next one i'll be going to is the Berkshire meet at the Berkshire arms Midgham
  23. check the universal joint that connects the steering column to the rack. the clamp bolt on mine was not done up properly (no thread lock used) It could be something simple like that.
  24. Thank you for having us! This was my first meet, it was really nice to meet everyone and put some faces to names. Couple of good looking bugeyes and loads of classics, It was a pity it was a bit dark for pics. Hope to see you all again soon
