  1. haha, well you can get a NICE 1.6 impreza for under 2 grand all day long, and engine about 450£ inclduing gearbox etc, then all it is gunna cost me is hours! its good to hear they are easy to change bits on though, i got very worried i was gunna have to scrap my scooby idea. well at my age, i cant get anything with a half decent lump in it anyway! TBH even if no conversion, i reckon i would stil get a 1.6 for pure novelty anyway
  2. yes well the one i was looking at had a wrx kit on it and i declared that, and made it go up by like 20£, so no worries there, but yes, my main question, would it be possible to put a 2l sport engine in a 1.6 front wheel drive? i know alot of your reading this are shaking your heads thinking what is this boy doing! he needs to stick to his corsa's! but, at the end of teh day it is just abit of fun!
  3. actually is it even worth having a 2l non turbo impreza that is fwd? i do completely see where you are coming from ace, but i have had my heart set on one for a looooong time, i THINK you can get 4wd 1.6s but they are a very certain shape, anyway, time to research!
  4. Hmm, obviously that would be 'the best' thing to do. But again, do you think my corsa is a 2l on the log book . . . The 1.6 impreza is damn cheap to insure, 200£ more that a 1.0l corsa b, so stupid i know. And say i never did get round to doing a conversion, there is still the novelty of having a very nice, big looking car at 17 eh
  5. i am sure most of the 1.6's are FWD? well basically, i wanted to get a 1.6 and do a 2l conversion, possibly a 2l turbo conversion but i am not sure i have the skill to start putting things in sideways blah blah, and yea i can do a redtop conversion, so should be able to do the 2l conversion myself, i didnt know if they where tricky or any pointers i should know?? haha yea the redtops are naughty little cars! But would much rather have a subaru, most people my age would only ever dream of getting one! yea the 1.6s are 88bhp haha, i think most things would be faster in a straight line
  6. arrr right, well i would love to fork out on a sti or wrx, but you see i am not even legally aloud to drink yet! The reason i decided to get a subaru that i have loved them for a long time, and after playing around on some insurance sites, i found that a 1.6 imp is cheaper than a 1.4 corsa! no joke! and well, i would say i have spent rougly between 2500 and 3000 on my corsa, but that cost is just going to continously rise as redtops are well, cheap and cheerful, i doubt i would get a turbo lump as its just abit obvious if a boy who can hardly see over the steering wheel is going around in thisn huge car with so much tporque, i didnt think it was really necessary to 4wd it if i was putting in a standard 2.0? Or will the handlingreally be that poor, cheers!!
  7. after a little play around on quinn i found out the insurnace for me is cheaper on a 1.6 impreza (2003 reg, WRX replica, saloon style? not a wagon) is cheaper than my current '1.4' (haha, no prizes to anyone who guess what is really in there) corsa. I have no idea about scoobs though being a vauxhall man, i have always loved them but never thought i could get one at an early age, are they worth getting?? and what is the deal on conversions? I know there was some person from my area who put a 2l non turbo in some soprt of impreza but no idea how, i can do redtop conversions easily, is it really gunna bwe much harder to do a 2l turbo conversion in a 1.6 cheers
