  1. Cheers b4z, As this has used fully synthetic oil all it's life I know that's what I'll stick with, but it was just more a question of whether you need to use a different grade of oil as your motor gets older or not? Also if there are recommendations for using a different brand or just keep using the same to aid the longevity of the engine?
  2. I'm just about to do a service on my 52 reg STi type uk and thought I'd check what the general concensus is. The car has just turned 80k miles and has been using 5w/40 Shell Helix Ultra (Fully Synthetic) for all of its life so far. Just thought that with the engine getting on in miles would I need to change the oil grade, or should I even be looking to change to a better make/spec of oil for this and future services? Cheers, Phil
  3. Just had a quick look at your other 4 links to knockhill footage.......Superb stuff mate I partucularly enjoyed to March 2009 clip with 10 mins of my fav driving music of all time. Took me back to my youth driving about in the modified 205GTi, cheers Must now go and dig out my Leftfield albums
  4. Sounds like you got a bit of a result there mate .
  5. Avon zz3 review - click on 'TEST' F1 asymmetric review - click on 'TEST' I've got both fitted to my spare wheels, so hopefully a good combination?
  6. No probs Phil . With the STi having 4-pot Brembos on the front you need a wheel with an offset of ET45 for them to clear the callipers (But only just though). I thought the Tarmac wheels I bought had an offset of 45, but turns out they're only ET48. I fitted a pair of 3mm spacers (About £10), which gives the brakes 1-2mm of clearance, and brings the offset back to the desired 45. I think the bigger the offset, the less clearance you have? I did have a good diagram explaining exactly what all the wheel dimension actually translate to. I'll see if I can dig it out. Cheers, Phil
  7. I'm gonna get a few parking dents sorted out and then it's gonna be time to think about fitting a load of stuff in preparation for a wee trip to Port Seaton over the winter me thinks ?
  8. You're only saying that 'cause you're jealous of the pinkness yourself???
  9. Cheers, I didn't want to go colour-coded for the splitter and mudflaps as I'd seen a few other nice looking bugs with black contrasting against the WR blue . I know what you mean about the STi decals on the mudflaps. I'll give them a while to see if they grow on me, or they'll be swiftly removed.
  10. Just thought I'd post a couple of pics of the new wheels, tyres and mudflaps I fitted today, and many thanks to Arch for the loan of his spacers . I'll go along to The Villiage and get a set tomorrow now I know they're required.
  11. Very handy for me too. By one or two, you mean one or two before every race? I normally use Jim Dickson when I'm buying tyres, but somehow got the impression that he'd only change and fit with tyres bought from him . Cheers Arch/Jac, I'll toddle off to him in the next day or so then .
  12. I've got my new 18" Inovit Tarmac wheels and my tyres should be here tomorrow, so was wondering if anyone can advise of somewhere decent in the Glasgow/Cumbernauld area who'll change/fit tyres not purchased from there? Don't want the new rims all scuffed, so if there's anywhere to avoid, that would be handy to know too. Cheers, Phil
  13. If it's starting to come away with just the original tape on it, I'd remove all the tape, clean it up and as you mention, use tiger seal on it . On my last car I had a large bootlip spoiler fitted with Tiger seal only and it stayed on perfectly . Phil P.S. How you getting on with the Brembos & discs?
  14. Hi and welcome . Sounds like you're doing some worthwhle mods to it already . As said previously........... Lol Phil
  15. Was it not supposed to be used for the Kirkintilloch Canal Festival on the 30th? Or is this something else I'm getting mixed up with (Prob most likely )?
  16. I'll be there on Sunday with my eldest Daughter and two Nephews . Usually a cracking day out, so long as the weather holds !! Oh, and welcome to the club Jim.
  17. White Nissan Sunny Coupe was my first car, and had all sorts of cars GTi/Turbo/Turbo diesel - 23 cars in total until the next fast Jap car - MY52 Impreza STi typeUK . Seems like I've gone full circle by having this Impreza, and loving every minute of it just now .
  18. It's the Subaru standard 4-pot brakes that you have, so that'll be what you're looking for .
  19. I heard that they paid a lot of money for the track time, and subsidised it for everyone this afternoon. So a huge thank-you to them, and hope from their point of view it was deemed a success so we can have a similar 2nd Birthday celebration next year . I know that my friend and his father who came along were mightilly impressed with the Impreza .
  20. I'd like to echo Geo's sentiments here. It was a fantastic afternoon, cheers Tim and the rest of the AutoEcosse and charity staff for making it possible. I hope a healthy amount was raised for Ninewells hospital (Pardon the pun)? Was also good to chat to other SIDC owners, and thanks to Andy for a white knuckle ride in his WRX hatch (I'm such a terrible passenger I felt the onset of car-sickness after only a couple of laps, think I'll stick to being behind the wheel ).
  21. I think you might need a few more DC shoe graphics along the bodywork??????
  22. You'll be fine mate . Some folk have decat up-pipe, Sports cat down-pipe and de-cat centre section and pass emissions test no problems, so you'll be ok too . I'll be doing this too when I get round to mapping the car.
  23. Are those 100pcd discs I gave you gonna be ok for you Kenny?
  24. Just give him a quick phone on 01382 477 992, there's still some spaces available . Brilliant value for £50 .
