  1. No probelm mate, I can still make it if he comes through.
  2. Yup, Paul really knows his stuff.
  3. I'd love to go to this, my son isn't well at the moment though
  4. My car is a prodrive, so it has the prodrive springs. Its still too lanky though.
  5. If you were given the opportunity to have ONE modification on your car that you didn't have to pay for, which modification would you get? They have to be realistic mods, ie : no Bugatti Veyron engine transplants. I'm currently saving for my next big mod and I'm torn between doing a few different things. One of which is a superstreet Tein suspension setup, the other is cosmetic upgrades involving carbon. What would you do?, money no object.
  6. 10 large in the bank for a test drive?!?!?!? well I'm short about £10800 then!!! Ahh well, the scooby is quicker anyway
  7. I miss my old Supra sometimes. Lovely to drive with effortless waves of torque. Not as hoonable as the scooby, but totally different car. Prices seem really cheap too ATM.
  8. Blue newage WRX heading towards Chislehurst from Queen Mary's Roundabout. I was on the R6 that overtook you and gave you an 'ok' sign.
  9. I bought a motorbike (R6) for commuting to and from work. It costs sod all to run, fill it up with £20 of V-power every fortnight and get to work in 15minutes instead of an hour. A years tax is something stupid like £40. Then the serious plus is the fact that they are brilliant fun. The scooby is my weekend toy, on occasions I use it for menial tasks, but having the bike has saved me loads, also keeps the mileage down on the car too.
  10. Sounds mad to me TBH. From what I've read, EVO's are not as reliable as some might think. Everyone I know who's owned one has had no end of grief with it. I nearly bought an R33 GTR before the scooby, after some lengthy research, it seems they too have their fair share of problems, gearbox, big ends, melted pistons, HICAS steering problems. I read that you can't even put a sound system in the back of it as the electrical load an amp takes from the battery at random intervals which interferes with the 4 wheel steering system and makes the car swerve at random basslines The best car IMO for tuning is the supra, the 2JZGTE engine is a diamond, the gearboxes are also pretty solid too. You can make considerable power gains for very little money comparitively.
  11. I'd love too, thats a bit of a trek for me though.
  12. I have an STI WR blue bugeye bonnet, how much will he pay as I may put a carbon one on.
  13. It has been brought to my attention that Police Forces have cottoned on to a little scam that people have been getting involved in. They have found that motoring enthusiasts (specifically high performance import vehicles) have been avoiding high insurance premiums and vehicle excise license by registering their car in France, not only that but they are avoiding prosecution for any speeding fines or parking contraventions by doing so. They have found several cars and owners which have done this and the owners are now facing some serious charges. If any of you think about doing it, or 'know a bloke down the pub' who offers this, then steer well clear. The DVLA are soon to be amalgamating their database with all EU countries to share all vehicle details so you will land well and truly in the brown stuff if you try it. Just thought you should know.
  14. Sweet, thx mate.
  15. Awesome car that GTR, look forward to seeing it in the hands of the Stig. Nissan's statement of it lapping the Nurburgring in 7.29 should mean it punches way above its weight on the top gear track. That Alfa was a stunning bit of kit too, why they can't make production models that pretty I'll never know. Shame it doesn't go as well as it looks. When Jeremy was in the Japanese Petrol station and was chatting to the attendant saying that the wild life bloke mask whose name escapes me would be able to spot her beaver from a mile away had me in stitches
  16. I ride a motorbike to work and drive the scooby at weekends, I'm a weekend a55h0le then?
  17. Don't think you'll have a problem running without it, only thing is underbonnet temp may rise a bit causing slight, but not noticable performance drop. My old MR2 turbo had no turbo heatsheild on it, the result was that on long motorway drives, the turbo would boil and evaporate the clutch fluid in the pipe where it passed close to the turbo. The result meant that as you approached a junction/roundabout the clutch pedal would stick to the floor and be useless unless pumped vigourously. First few times it was quite scary
  18. I'm there, got my stickers too!!
  19. Seems like this'll be the last year of car ownership while paying £210 a year. I've decided to get 6 months now which will end prior to March, then I'll get a year in before the government get that crap new tax banding system in. Money grabbing B'stards. Just read this little snippet too, I hope we see another Guy Faulks copy cat soon http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/news/default.asp?storyId=18345
  20. That'll be jealousy rearing its ugly head me thinks. I'd have had to ask him what he drives, then promptly started ripping into it. If someone mistakes my car for sounding like a beetle, I'd seriously consider getting it looked at, as at the moment, it sounds more like a thundering storm front tearing through the streets upsetting everyone and making small children cry
  21. So what is it you two have to say? Good or bad, thats I all I want to know.
  22. Stock ECU, AFAIK.
  23. I'll be doing it on the scooby, as the oil filter is vertical. Every other car I've had has had side on oil filters which would make pre filling them rather messy The general and technical forums of this site have got several posts of the same nature, in that peoples engines have started knocking after a service has been done. It just made me a little concerned. Thanks for the reply though Mate.
  24. I've been reading more and more about boxer engines going pop shortly after the oil gets changed. I've read that filling the oil filter prior to fitment, and priming the engine by cranking while CPS is removed to flow the oil round the engine while not under load. Is this something that has to be done on all variant imprezas, or is it certain models or years that are more susceptible to the problem?
  25. Was browsing pistonheads last night, in the parts sections there are a few scooby engines, some of which are guaranteed and fully reconditioned. Have a gander mate, you may see something that fits the bill.
