What size do you need? and why part worn mate?
-
STI import should be about 290 without any mods. Airfilter wont give any recogniseable power increase, max of maybe 5hp depending on the application. Exhaust CAN give better gains, but not if you just change a back box. That will gain you Zero. the retriction is in the cat pipes. To make another 30 bhp, then you can remove the cat pipes and decat the whole exhaust, replacing the downpipe and center section and add the filter, and with luck you might see 30 horses added, but every application is different. I woould have thought on an 02 sti with a full decat, filter and remap, 40-50 should be obtainable easily.

I did say it was heat from the headers didnt i!!

I will be using my TRACK CAMERA to video our drive in the convoy, and will post it up on here, along with all the other video we take on sunday at Banbury,

Thanks Fudge!! By the way what headers are you running? Are they wrapped or do you have heat shields in place? I measured mine (standard again) yesterday afternoon after reading this thread, using our laser temp guage (what we use to see if cats are working or not.) My headers run 160 degrees at idle right at the bend into the up-pipe area, where you are talking about near the radiator. Now my headers are standard so they are quite a way from the bottom of the rad, and seeing as my car has already tried to take its trip to the firey pit of hell, that Loom is now moved under the front of the car. I took the car out and gave it some beans, jumped out and did the same thing again, the temp at the header in about the same place was now over 240 degrees! but measuring the metal around it, like the bottom of the rad support, and the chassis rail, nothing was over 90 degrees. So that leads me to think you must have some headers on there that come closer to the front cross member. IF you dont, then at some point previously, maybe with the old owner of your vehicle, there has been some sort of ehat source at that loom, maybe a fire before, and that has left the wires exposed. Let me know what youre running, and if you need some help with location of the best place to put that loom.

I notice no-one wants to reply to your post mate!!! Obviously humble pie is selling fast in their cafeteria!!!

Thanks Craigy, yep, i am back on the bike, and actually started playing guitar this week. Its bit difficult as the two fingers seem to not do what i want!! Skull, the water temp in the radiator will be at most 105 degrees. (any more than that and your rad will pop under the pressure, water expands as its boiled, and your rad cap has a pressure release system built in so before the water gets to 105 degrees, it should vent and youd see steam pouring out the bonnet!) The plastic on wiring has a nominal heat rating of 150 degrees which means that it needs to be heated to 150 before the plastic sheathing becomes soft enough to strip with pressure. Therefore there is no way the water jet could have stripped the wiring on its own. you have another heat source heating that, IE the headers are allowing heat to the wiring loom, they put off maybe 400 degrees at times and will melt the sheating allowing the water jet to strip it off.

Ive spent the last three weeks having burns treatment and thinking i wasnt going to play guitar again from saving my car because that very same wiring loom set fire because of headers. It also melts the plastic drain valve, but if it gets hold of the wiring loom then it all goes pear shaped. Luckily that wiring loom only serves the front lights, indicators fogs and fan including the ABS system

Skull, thats the wiring loom that caught fire on my car mate. Youre running headers arent you!!! YOU HAVE to move the loom or it will go up in flames mate!!

HA!! thank god you have a sense of humor jimster, someone could have taken that the wrong way!

that would be an expensive plate!! Not my cup of tea but whatever floats your boat mate!!
-
yes i agree JW but its hard to get a number plate that says MY D**KS BIGGER THAN YOURS by using numbers and letters!!
-
Prodrive may have some too!! pick them up on sunday!
-
they charge a fortune for plates they SAY they have already but actually are purchasing from DVLA when you order!!!! Most of them are rip-off merchants!! If its not for sale on the DVLA website, then its either not available now, or someone is doing a private sale. TBH over here i would not pay more that 250 all in, because the plates are not really personalised anyway. My plate i had in america actually said EMOE and cost $14 per year!!!!
-
If youre buying from the DVLA website, then thats the cheapest youll get the numbers. All the so called reg transfer places charge more!! i got my number for £250 ALL IN, thats transfer, new MOT doc, tax disc, and Reg document. The number plate was for sale on REG TRANSFERS here in dunstable for £495 PLUS the transfer fees!!!!

On every turbo car i have owned ive stuck with Turbotechnics, they make a solid product, adjustable and high quality. you can go for a twin port, to give you both recirc and vented, a pure v-port like mine, or a trumpeted for really loud (read that as chav!) they also do a high end KOMPACT series now like their other range but smaller and more compact. Ive tried Bailey, and wouldnt touch them as they fail easily. HKS i just dont like, bit gimmiky

Well done mate!!! Have a beer on me!!

James the AERO crud that people are selling on Ebay is about as useful as t1ts on a nun. theres so many FAKE flatblades out there people, pick carefully, and always get opinions and better still, use a name thats known and trusted.

on a serious note, i think its absolutely wonderful what the three have managed to pull off here. An amazing amount of work involved, and it shows a couple of things. Firstly, this is in my opinion the BEST thing any subaru supporting club could do, and these guys did it! secondly, is there any BETTER way to acknowledge the pure love that all who knew Colin could be shown? thirdly, i for one, am proud to be a part of this event, purely to show the McRae family what thier wonderful son meant to us. People turn up to things that are 1000 times less important than this, i dont have any fear that sunday at prodrive will be AWE inspiring. WELL DONE to the organisers.
