  1. Never noticed that before. Tip for the versa face brush, take off the handle and throw it it the bin.
  2. Are we talking about the Meguiars brushes. Megs Ultra Safe Wheel Spoke Brush Megs Angled Face Wheel Brush I use both these brushes and they are excellent products that make a difficult job easier. Highly recommended.
  3. Donation at the ready for any driver (except Higgy, that might be too scary for a noob like me) willing to take out a track day virgin for a lap or two.
  4. Don't go for the PC. You have to import them from the States and they require a transformer. Polished Bliss now sell a polishing machine, new on the market at the end of last year. Its very similar to the PC but does not require the transformer. Polished Bliss Polishine Machine They sell them them on their own or as part of a kit. Phone them if you have any questions. They are very friendly and know what they are talking about. They do not offer a SIDC discount as such but if you spend over £100 you will get an automatic 5% discount.
  5. Sorry to go off topic a bit, but what are the alloy wheels you have on the car John?
  6. Alrighty Colin, I delivered your strut braces m8. Still not seen your motor in the flesh but it sure looks good in the photos. Anyway welcome to SIDC there are loads of people on here that will give you good advise on releasing the full potential of the Scooby. Got question, not sure about something, just ask. By the way the guys and galls from Fife meet up on the 1st Thursday of each month if your interested in meeting other owners, look in the events threads. Stu.
  7. Yes mate, you should be fitting the 215's. Thats the standard fit for the WRX standard alloys. I only made a refference to the 225's in my post above because I currently have after market alloys fitted with 225's on.
  8. I have also been looking at the best options for new tyres. Not needing them yet just looking ahead. Also looking at new alloys for the future so have been waying up various options. With regards to the Toyo's, T1-S and T1-R. Don't take my word for it as I am quite new to the Scooby scene and have no experience of either but through my research I was coming to the opinion that the T1-R is the better choice. I am lead to believe that Toyo took the T1-S tyre and improved it to come up with the T1-R. Don't know how you plan to buy your new tyres but I will show you the cheepest way that I have found so far if I were to go for new T1-R tyres and I live in Glenrothes Fife. If you have a better way, please enlighten me! Best option for Toyo Proxes T1-R 225/45 R17 Buy online through Black Circle applying SIDC discount (I think this is 5%, to be confirmed). Go for the full fitting option (valves, balancing, fitting and disposal of old tyres included). The website will tell you where your closest Black Circle approved tyre station is. Turn up when tyres arrive and get them fitted. £341.16 Best option for Toyo Proxes T1-R 225/40 R18 Buy online through Camskill (no SIDC discount available that I am aware of). Go for the tyres delivered only option. Take to Tyre Shop Auto Centre and have them fit the tyres. £382.00 Examples of prices for fitting service only: Tyre Shop Auto Centre - £40 for fully fitting 4 tyres onto 17" alloys. Tyre Shop Auto Centre - £48 for fully fitting 4 tyres onto 18" alloys. Kwik Fit - £60 for fully fitting 4 tyres onto any alloys. As you can see Kwik Fit are more expensive, I actually got them to quote me for supplying and fitting 4 of each size of T1-R and this is what they told me: 17" - £520.00 18" - £636.00
  9. Eventually got round to fitting the new horns today. As you can see I had to use a couple of small brackets to position the horns. A couple of pics here. Just incase anyone comes up against the same problems I had when I first tryed to fit them. They sound superb, by the way.
  10. Please excuse my stupidity, I'm a noob. Can someone explain 'ARB's', droplinks and 'ALK'. Are these expensive items? Are they easily fitted? Do they work?
  11. Gary, Just noticed your car has exactly the same grille set as mine so that can't be causing the problem. Nice car by the way.
  12. Gary, Pictures would be a much appreciated. I don't want to start drilling holes and getting special brackets made if I don't have to. I'm turning a 20 min job into a full scale A-Team project. P.S. I have the prodrive grille set on my car, not sure if that's causing any of the problems I seem to be having.
  13. Gary, did you position yours differently from the originals? My originals are bolted to a hole just to the right of centre and the other is to the left of the right hand head light (as you look from the front of car). When I try to position them in the same place as the originals they won't sit properly, as you have described above, i.e. outlet on the horns are pointing towards the floor, and the piaa stickers are facing you.
  14. I have bought a set of these PIAA Sports Horns to replace the rather embarrassing standard horns. I have a newage blobeye. Got them today and eagerly headed out to the car to fit them. Removed the upper grille, simple. See the standard horns, no probs. Removed old horns and replaced with PIAA Horns in the same place but they are fouling with the grille when I try to pop it back on. Has anybody else fitted these bad boys? How did you do it? Where did you position them? Did you need to make up a special bracket or drill extra holes somewhere? Thanks, Stu.
  15. Once again many thanks to you Gus.
  16. Some newbie questions: What are the benifits of changing the air filter from the standard fitted filter to the 'Green Cotton Filter' mentioned above? Also I take it that there are no adverse effects for simply changing to a better air filter? Reason for asking: I previously had a VW Bora V5 and decided to get a K+N Induction Kit fitted and all hell broke loose. I had nothing but trouble the whole time it was fitted to the car. Now, I know that an Induction kit and a panel air filter are not the same things. (I think ). I think in hind sight that when fitting an induction kit the car requires some kind of alterations to the ECU to allow for greater amounts of air coming in. Please correct me if i am wrong! Thing is I had the induction kit fitted by performance specialists "Falkland Performance" and they never advised any other procedures may be required after fitting the unit. It was well over a year later after spending loads of cash at VW for various faults that kept appearing. Car would just die when pulling up to stop and the like. Lambda probe replaced, air mass meter replaced among many other parts that i can't recall. I finally took the car to another garage and the mechanic there after looking at the history of faults said the problem lay with the Induction kit I had fitted. Smartly removed, original filter re-fitted, no more problems. God waffled on a bit there, anyhoo I ain't no mechanic and I would appreciate any advise kindly given, always keen to learn.
  17. Nice job C_WRX. Looks much better. Want to do the de-tango thing too, but not quite had the bottle to go for it yet!
  18. I think I was behind you this afternoon just before 4ish. You were driving along from Chapel Retail Park and I was behind you just as you turned into the Shell garage. Blue Blobeye WRX.
  19. I've not had the Scoob long but I got a service carried out at Eden Subaru not long after buying it (bought it private). They give you a courtesy car free of charge if you want one (Just incase you didn't already know). They offered me a Forester but the wife didn't fancy driving such a big beast, so I asked for something else and they kindly let us take the very 1st new shaped Impreza for the day. This was the very day they launched that model, so we had the 1st drive, sweet. Pity it was only the 1.5 litre though. You should ask and see if they will let you take the WRX version out, which they now have a few off at the garage.
  20. Hey Baz, Was that you I passed this afternoon? Green Classic 'S' reg. I was traveling to Cupar on the Kingskettle Road in the Blue Blobeye WRX. We exchanged waves as we passed. I also passed 2 other Scoobs, 1 in front of you and 1 behind you but they just gave me the blank look. Stu.
  21. Happy New Year to everyone, All the Best for 2008. Safe driving.
  22. I am from Fife, Kirkcaldy originally, now living in Glenrothes. Not had the Scooby long just a few months now. I always give a wee wave when I pass fellow Scoobs. Get some strange looks mind you! I am sure there are a number of peeps from Fife on here.
  23. Gus, Let us know which company you choose and how good the result achieved is and cost if you don't mind. I am thinking about a similar repair using similar companys once i have the required funds. Cheers, Stu.
  24. It is indeed 1234. It is on my CK3000 kit anyways.
  25. Just recently joined 'Family Subaru' and lovin' it. Some fantastic cars on show on this thread. Anyways heres some pics of mine.......
