  1. Yup, you're a top man! We had a bit of a delay due to unforeseen circumstances, but then he came over to England from Germany purely to deliver me a 'box and diff! All still running well, so very many thanks. Good luck with the remap (finally!! )
  2. It was the Specials, and it was "coming", not getting. I know - I'm sad.......
  3. Don't know if it helps you or not, mate, but 29th June is a Sunday, not a Saturday.... 1. Big Jay 2. Scoobytibs 3. Brian D 4. Emmo 5.
  4. My renewal date is 3rd July. Currently with Kwik Fit - I'm hoping Keith Michaels can do me a decent quote for the next 12 months
  5. It's not just brake fluid that's bad for the paint work you know...... (allegedly!! )
  6. It wasn't me, that's for sure! I don't think I've ever been in my car in Welling, come to think about it
  7. I have a copy on my PC of the HSE report into Richard Hammond's accident in the jet car. Within this report, it states that: "The jet car feature was considered to be sufficiently unusual and hazardous for GW (Grant Wardop - an assistant producer on the show) to ask BC (Ben Collins), who worked closely with Top Gear as a high performance driver and consultant, to go and see PTLE (the owners of the car) and Vampire, and to prepare a briefing for RH (Hamster). It was felt that, with his extensive motor sport experience, he would be able to confirm PTLE’s competence and the quality of their equipment, and be able to see through them if they were not genuine. (This was a significant step because Top Gear had not used BC in this way before.)" Whilst this does not implicitly state Ben Collins is the Stig, I cannot think of any other "high performance driver" other than the presenters in the show. By the way, if anybody is interested and wants a copy of the report, which makes quite interesting reading, let me have your e-mail address and I'll forward it. Martin
  8. I'm interested, all depending on work commitments as I work week on / week off
  9. I take it you've hired Brands Hatch or somewhere suitable for this, yeah?

  11. Finally, after much blood sweat and tears (well, two out of three anyway) success. The gearbox is in, the diff is in and all works well. There are a few unusual noises but I'm gonna give it a few days to run it in, then check everything over again and make sure everything is tight and sorted. Many thanks to those who've offered advice when requested and also for eurosti for making the trip over from Germany solely to bring me a 'box and diff! Top man!
  12. Finally got a couple of days today and tomorrow to change my 'box so we started this morning. Touch wood, everything seems to be going ok and the new box is in. Everything came off ok and there were no major crisis. The biggest pain seemed to be relocating the new 'box because the splines were obviously not aligned properly and you obviously can't see them once the bell housing is virtually butted to the engine. The prop shaft and exhaust need to be put back and the gear level linkage needs fitting. Once that's done, we will then work on the diff. Having been kind of carless for about 6 weeks, I will be so pleased to have her back to full strength again. I am intrigued by Dazzlers figure of about £1,500 for a PPG box - figures I have been looking at have been around £1,000 more than that. Where did you get your PPG box, mate?
  13. Apologies for tonight, people. I was all set to come out, but when I went to the car, it turned once and the battery was dead where the car has sat for a month or so. I took it out to stick it on charge and noticed I can't see the electrolyte so god knows where that's all gone. Anyway, topped it up and stuck it on charge so all being well will be fine tomorrow. Also, on the plus side, my new gearbox looks like its coming next Tuesday now so I'm happy to report things are looking up and hopefully the car will be up and running within 10 days or so
  14. They're burning as I type this. For some strange reason, I couldn't get them to burn to play like a normal DVD, so they're burned as a data image so you will need to play them on a PC through Media PLayer or something. I think I will risk the journey. I think its only the synchro that's dying and not the whole box. Perhaps someone can give me a second opinion tonight.
  15. I may or may not make it tonight. Due to unforeseen circumstances, my gearbox has still not been repaired, so its just a case of whether I fancy risking the journey on a dodgy 'box.....
  16. And two new ones went up a couple of days ago in Kentish Way, Bromley, just south of the junction with Elmfield Road
  17. The other thing worth adding is that a Turbo 2000 car is still highly modifiable (is that a word?? it is now! ) Mine was a standard Turbo 2000 but its now kicking far more power than nature intended and the Kent Battenburgs like My point being, get yourself a turbo car. Give it a couple of years, save up some of cash along with what you'll save on the insurance and start modding!
  18. People I am changing my 'box and rear diff next Thursday. I will be doing the work along with a colleague of mine's who's a decent mechanic. Anyway, I am in need of some idea where to start to get the box out of a classic. I know Dazzler has just gone through this so perhaps he might be able to chip in. Anything we need to watch out for? Anything that, having done it once, you thought I must remember that for next time (although hoping there won't be a next time!!) Any assistance gratefully received. Many thanks in anticipation Martin
