Ahh ok.. I wasn't sure how the STi/JDM lights light up... should of asked.. I know the hawkeye lights illuminate all bulbs on full-beam.. I was concerned about overloading the wiring on the WRX but I hear the prodrive lights have a built in relay so both bulbs are illuminated on full beam so assumed it would be ok.. I'm more concerned about them operating the way they should operate don't want it looking odd.. So if anyone can remember how the standard STi bugeye headlights light up on full beam lemme know The origonal WRX is set-up to come on seperately as it uses a twin filament H4 bulb and just enabled either filament but not both.. I still 'kinda' like the eyelids.. they are very popular in the US but as I said before it seems it's not accepted over here, but that's probably because no one is wearing them.. Also now I've got the STi lights on the eyelids are pointless and they will just cover the full beam so if anyone wants them make me an offer Aye it's not bad... The road basically runs between the Dava and the 1st decent road we took the other week.. Map Clicky

My previous 1994 Volvo 440 had both headlight washers & wipers!! Lost them along with the heated seats when moving to the Impreza... But well worth it.!!! I do like the headlight washers on the hawkeyes they are pretty high pressure I believe and do a reasonable job of clearing the lens!

Yeah that's the one.. although there's not much left of the castle these days..: Cheer mate! Scooby will look even better once the nicer weather comes round and the salty roads are reduced. Got myself one of the new Meguiars DA polishers recently and I'm dying to give it a whirl! Far to many cobwebs on the paint for my liking.. Other than that, that's me finsihed with the outside of the car... Just need to concentrate on the interior.. Hopefully get some proper WRX bucket seats off eBay this week, also want to find a proper aluminum border for the gear stick (non STi branded) then final project is an in car PC to not only work as a media center with wireless LAN but also control the ECU! Yeehaa!!! Well that's the plan... Somewhere along the line need to get the front camber sorted out.. damn thing jsut wont "bite" the corners the way it should... Oh and better brakes...

Heh ! Nice to hear your enjoying the new car! I've got a soft spot for the FTO's They have the look of a real sports car *drool* BTW - I believe I have the origonal side skirts off your car Dontcha just love the SIDC... Nice! Good point.. Spotted a Blue Hawkeye STi in Lhanbryde at around 12:30pm today.. Not seen that one before.. Got a nice friendly wave, so all is well on the flip side, got a wave from a silver Evo 7 as it flew past me, and another 6 cars on the A96 just outside Elgin.. Nice to get the wave but the overtaking was questionable... LOL! Yeah Red defo the best colour (eeep!) Actualyl I think more and more people are starting to like it.. As for the headlights, got them wired up so they are functioning at the moment.. need to have another hash at it and put in a relay in so the dipped and high-beam lights are on at the same time. At the moment it switched to either or but would prefer both lit up on high-beam.. I think that's how it's supposed to be.. (BTW - if anyone want's a set of brand new Bugeye Eye-lids let me know ) The STi lights dont have as much silver in them so it's looks darker & meaner!, that and I sprayed the mesh grills black instead of the silver I had before.. I admit it took a couple days to get used too.. but the way they light up is much better, they give a better view of the road and really suit the darker colour of the car.. Although I'd like to try and mod them a bit so the high-beam is higher.. It's not adjustable And it's a little too low for my liking...

Nice!! Really wish I could take night shots like that, that's superb mate! Anyone got any info on that accident?

Trust me to be bored on boxing day... Never mind, went for a quick run round past Lochindorb (about 30mins away), only reason being, I've never been there before and I'm contantly on the lookout for new driving roads.. :frosty: Conclusions? Nice scenery! but not really an ideal "drivers" road, 80% of corners are blind and tight so cant get a good rhythm and it'd be dangeroud goign quickly.... Close it off for a day and put together some pace notes and we'd have a different story! Meanwhile here's some photos of the area (& the car): Clck them for higher resolution images: Few more images here clicky

ummmmm... Was looking for a "goat" emoticon but I surprised to see there isn't one

Thanks Gary!! Thought it may have been something silly like that... Good to see we can get it sorted out. Faith is restored :biggrinsanta: (bloody technology! ) P.s. I know the goats thing isn't true

Thanks for the advice.. Appreciate that! I dont think it will get that far to be honest (at least I hope not).. I think it's probably just a mishap. As all details were mentioned previously and saved with a reference number.. Also I'd emailed the office twice with the details so they will be on file somewhere... Whether or not that information was read I don't know.. I never received a reply via email. I'd suggest they take the email address off their site if they don't read them.. But I did go through all the details of the vehicle, drivers and conviction when I first called them up for a quote.. I don't intend to cancel.. They are recommended by loads of people on here and Snet, discounts to SIDC members (apparently) and I felt I got a reasonable price. All was well until this morning... I'm just paranoid about insurance docs not being accurate. And rightly so.. But if I do get left without insurance after the 1st.. I'm screwed! I start work at 7am in the mornings and no way to get into work other than drive!! Doesn't help at this time of year either with companies on holidays.. Hopefully it will work out ok.. Fingers crossed anyway...

Well.. I'd normally say no.. Especially at the weekend when it's his time off but it's into the crimbo period and I've no idea when their offices are open the next couple weeks.. But if he does get back to it'd be really appreciated.. at least so I know where i stand... Yeah it's maybe just that... But would be nice to get confirmed... Just hear stories about insurance companies turning round saying ooh! you didn't say that you had a uprated spoiler on the back (when the car already had one and it was an optional part) then go one to say well this isn't the car we have insured, so were not paying up and you'll be F*&ed for not havign insurance! This is no dig at any insurance company but a general comment.. if they want drivers to pay for insurance work with them! Dont try and con your customers!!! Which I why I had a list of everything that's been changed on the car.. Surprised to only see one modification listed and it only covers a small part.. But maybe your right, that'll only be like for like parts that are listed.. Which in my case is fair enough.. True.. but the other way to look at it is that if it does get nicked it's easier to identify if it has a humungous WRC wing on the back (Which mine doesn't BTW)

Thanks for the tip.. Now why Didn't I think of doign that..

Not impressed so far with Keith Michaels.. My insurance renewal with elephant is due 1/1/08 so great time to change to keith michaels.. Started off good, called up early in Nov to get a quote listed all details I could got a good quote.. Called up again just lat week to go ahead with the quote and state that I'll have 4 years NCB not just 3 that I though I'd have (cant count obviously) Anyway everything seemed good.. Got the insurance proposal in this morning and hardly any of the information is correct. Only modification listed is Suspension changes, when infact there is quite a long list of modifications which I had told them about. PPP, mudflaps, front splitter/rear spoiler, headlights e.t.c. My drivers details aren't accurate There no additional driver listed, when there should be a 2nd driver on the policy My previous insurer details are wrong Finally, my motoring convictions are wrong.. They have put down an SP30!! When The code should be CU20 Driving Dangerous vehicle (tinted windows). I've never been convicted of an SP30!! Seems it was just “assumed” an SP30! Despite specifically mentioning the details surrounding the penalty! I know I shouldn't rant on here but I'm not happy with this.. My insurance is toast as off 1/1/08 and now that it's christmas/newyear I'm worried I'll be left with no insurance in a couple weeks because of this blunder.. Everything should have gone smoothly. they had the correct details!!! Their offices are closed at weekends so just tried emailing them, don’t give much hope for that as they seemed to ignore every other email I’ve ever sent them in the past.. Grrrr!!!! Sorry mods, if this is an inappropriate post then please delete it if you feel it necessary... I’ know it’s not nice to rant about companies in this way! Just thought it was worth posting as they are renowned for delivering good service and deals to SIDC members And… relax………. on the plus side, latest edition of True Grip arrived this morning!

Oh yeah! forgot about this! Good idea.. But wouldn't recommend giving the "exact" location where your car is! Just the area, for security reasons.. Just added mine..

Good Advice!!

Yeah it's really not too bad.. I think there's 5 or 6 bolts holding the seats in.. Then they just unhook and lift out easily.. Once the seats are out and you can see what your doing it all makes sense. The only problem I had was trying to get the actual bar to fit between the two end sections in the boot. Only reason it was a pain was because of the awkward location and it was a tight fit.. But then if it wasn't tight it woulnd't be doing it's job.. Persistence pays off with that. Then simply a case of putting it all back together.. Also don't worry about playing with the seatbelts reels, they are only held in with a single bolt and a lug. You could get away with not removing them but I did so I got better access to the top of the struts.. P.s. Is it just me or has the humour tone on this forum gone down the toilet recently! Must be all that frosty weather...
-
I'll admit It's a bit of a pain really.. Secure car (Very important!! Don't want it rollign around when loosening the dampers!) Back seats oot! Unsecure the searbelt reels. If strut brace is 3 sections, remove end parts and secure to top of struts (ontop of caps) Then climb into the boot and attach the center strut brace bar between the two ends which should pop out into the boot area. (This was a pain to do for me) Secure seatbelt reels again. Then put the seats back. Voila.. Easy! (I'd give up an hour or 2 .. only takes 30-40 mins but I'd leave the extra time for swearing as you'll think it wont fit! Grrr! (edited post as I had an unnecessary step in there)

Ahh see.. there's a flaw in your logic right there. L2 mentioned the spotted car drove past his work while his car was in the carpark so wasn't wasn't driving at the time. But nothing a little quantum weighting to your formulae couldn't fix.. . o O (Geez! too early in the morning for this...)
-
Sounds Spot on!! Well done! You know more than you think! Only thing I'd add is that's it's located just after the airbox just before the corrigated plastic tube at the front lefft of the engine bay. It's very delicate but worth cleaning every couple years or so, especially on classics.. or aftermarket Induction kits..
-
bl**dy ell!! At least the amount of rear end damage suggests good braking!.. Still ugly! (the damage that is... we all have our views about the rear of the car.. )

I dont have Sky or EuroSport
