WEll Done! Was supposed to be changign the clutch on my bug WRX this weekend but clutch hasn't arrived Any special tips/things to look out for when removing/re-installing the gearbox? (there's no substitute for experience)

Hey all, yeah not a bad idea... been knocked down a bit wit this silly flu/cold stuff the past few weeks and been busy with work and stuff .. Ontop of that the car's been tuned down as the clutch is slipping, so my head's not really been in it TBH, but was thinking should really organise a meet before Feb.. Origonally we were looking to have a re-run of the Highland Loop out the west coast, but due to to the time of year and possibility of unpredictable roads surfaces over on the west coast, We'll postpone that for now and leave it for a couple months and maybe have another go! Also with a bit of luck... We may even get a weekend run over to Skye organised this year! Woohoo! (It's been spoken about for the last two years at least) maybe even try turn it into another BIG Scottish Scoobies meet / highland run if others from further afield are up for it As rich mentioned above, there's a couple events on the next couple of months to get along to so all is not lost.. Most notably the Snowman Rally! Rich also gave me the heads up on a local event which will hopefulyl be happening in the Summer! Currently gathering more information on this, so stay tuned for that! Hopefully some of you "younger" drivers will be keen to get invovled! Anyhoo, for now.. I really like the idea of the sub location! never thought of that! I take it you have a switch somewhere to disable it when the arm rest is up? Dont have any piccies at hand, but I currently have a 5 year old single DIN AIWA MP3 head unit at the mo with AUX in.. Gonna get it swapped out for a nice DVD JVC unit at a later date. Also got a VGA touch screen display which folds away into a single DIN.. Still a work in progress, but will have it tied to a PC/Laptop in the boot somewhere.. YouTube linky << Test of InCarPC software a few weeks back.. Still a few wee bugs to sort out but gives a rough idea of what I'm aiming for. Eventually will be complete with WiFi, Bluetooth, ECU Telemetry, Video recordoing from onboard cameras + loads more Future wise: Get the InCarPC thing working properly... Upgrade front speakers, Move rear speakers into rear parcel shelf (or just leave the ones in the rear door and add and extra set) add a sub and a proper amp. Then I'll be happy .. Not gonna happen any time soon though..

I hear there's a guy on the RB320oc forums who contacted his dealer about it last week only to be told they were suspendign the warranty replacement for the shocks until further notice! I guess they have realised how much it's costing.. But it's warranty afterall.. they can't pull out of that can they? By bro's RB is booked in to get his replaced today so will see what happens..

Interested in this thread... SOund system is somethign I'll be looking at further down the line.. Definately need to get those speakers out from the rear doors and onto the parcel shelf sometime & Generally upgrade the whole set-up

I just got quoted £300 from a local place, just for the time, no parts/fluids included! They reckon 7.5hrs.. Comes from a place that runs their own Impreza in the SRC.. Makes we wanna try change it myself afterall..

Nice one! The hawkeyes really work well wiht splitter IMHO Also once you get used to it they help cornering when nipping on above 45-50mph Front end bites in much more! But does mean you have to drive faster to get the effect

Definately did the right thing in stopping, no arguments there... However, this sort of incident is exactly the reason why I don't "play" with other vehicles on the road, particularly at excessive speed.. Someones bound to get hurt.. Especially if the other driver is not in an Impreza, chances are they are likely to push their vehicle too hard.. Although GT4 is a very competant machine! Is this an argument for why speed cameras cause accidents Glad to hear driver was ok, shame about the car though GT4 = *drool*

Yep... particularly the new Impreza Diesel which is no longer leaving Japanese shores Until further notice.. Due to the exchange rate of the nikkei to the rest of the world, the cost to ship the cars means they woudl have to put a fair whack onto the price.. Due to the fact were still heading into the financial storm (so to speak) thre is no ETA on when it will be shippped.. Worst case scenario.. It may never get mass shipped out world wide or at least it could be a years before it's viable.. Now THAT's a kick in the nuts for all concerned.. Subaru build a car they cannot sell and we cannot get a car we want to buy!

Hi there, I've got the UK300 style prodrive wing on the back of my bugeye.. And have the dodgy side effect of getting a creek when going over small bumps on the road.. I thought it was the mounting but I believe I've tracked it down to the springs creeking under the extra load and if I try and "wiggle" the spoiler it's difficult to replicate the noise, but if I slowly open and close the boot lid from a nearly closed position, just moving it up and down slightly I get the same sort of squeak.. Havent noticed much visible vibration though.. But the noise does drive me nuts at times... With regards to replacement screws try a local hardware store.. It's actually held on using 4 studs of all-thread and then nuts on the inside of the boot which hold the wing on.! Careful Note!! If you ever remove the wing, get a friend to help hold onto it! A guy on here recently swapped his wing over and accidentally dropped it on his rear window and smashed it Not a good idea! Best to be safe than sorry! P.s. If you find a cheap supplier for the boot springs please post back with the results.. Dealer was looking for £26.99 for uprated torsion bars when I asked about them a few months back.

Have to confess actually.. The new RS does look sweet! Seen it in Blue and yeah that's an exciting looking car! 301bhp and 400+ lb-ft of torque! If they can tie enough of that power down through the traction control to front wheels that'll be a helluva car! and for under 25k Stats at good! but will be interested to hear how it drives in the real world...

That's pretty poor... Would have expected a good level of support from our neighbours across the pond.. (Sold a few sets of McRae stickers to the US recently) Maybe our US counterparts still think Colin was a fictional character in a computer game..

I have no doubt the new coupe will be a good car (it bloody should be anyway) Toyota have plenty experience with sport 2 door coupes and they are all good! The MR2 was binned a couple years back.. And a joint deveopment of Toyota and Subaru should bring out a great result! But will it be a subaru or toyota? (or both) Early days but already claims that it will NOT be 4wd and that the UK specs will not be turbocharged... But it's not an impreza.. I hope i'm wrong but I can see the day comign soon when were arriving at meets in flat caps and pipes (Not literraly) talking about the goold days of the impreza when it was still in production... Just my point of view at the mo... But I think if subaru are to continue the whoel family friendly affair, the Impreza name should be dropped from their cars and let it be remembered int eh history books for being a milti-award winning car with cult following potentially giving us teh only ever UK World Rally Champions .. and they come up with a new name... But then the Legacy has kept the same name for yonks now.. .. I do hope my thoughts are miss-places and the Impreza continues as a great performance car but with the likes of Ford and Vauxhall coming up with 250bhp range of cars at less cost.. IT's no longer an exclusive market... Between Evo's and SCoobs.. (althought you cannae beat AWD and the boxer burble. )
