  1. bushes are very soft on the impreza they can all be improved easily geo
  2. stay with 17 in m8 you wil affect the handling on 18 in you need to run 35 series tyres i run 215/40/17 prada spec 2 there great i run 225/40/18 on my07 sti michelin --better than 17 in reo70 but still camber happy /////// also depends on what suspension mods you got geo
  3. how are the seats bolted /can you use quick release bolts like cycle hub type whiteline do qrbolts geo
  4. aw shucks
  5. having built many rally cars in my time i suggest you use your roll cage as it is the strongest part of the car in an accident the cage should not move /do not bolt harnesses to seat mounts use the cars mounts or fabricate and weld mounts on to the floor .if you want any advise on prep pm me paul geo
  6. no the plan is to fit modified ball joints and longer track rod ends after the 3way coil-overs are delivered from japan in 3weeks time the c/overs are the first in the country a new type with external gas canisters and with adjustable bump and rebound settings. dougster its nice to have a decent conversation with you for a change geo
  7. i read the post the other day about whats wrong with sidc here is my contrabution to the site over the next few weeks i will post up the mods to our new track car first 2 mods 27 mm rear anti roll bar and diff x member bush kit-------here goes always secure your car on stands before working underneath it this is a pic of underneath showing the rear bar and drop-link plastic type the bar is 19mm then we removed the wheels after securing on stands---always check you car is steady before getting underneath i always leave the jack under if possible the d/links are held on by 2 long bolts 14mm bolt head size some can be 12mm you should never see a 13mm bolt on a jap car as 13 is unlucky this is the arb bracket that links the bar to the body to give it lateral support, the bkts house the bushes that the bar sits in this is the bkt conected and disconected only one 12mm bolt holds it on note the difference in size black bush 19 mm yellow 27 mm once removed from car you can offer up the new bar coating it with grease to lube the bush seat you can see the difference in size of the 2 bars here the old drop link and new link in alloy with poly bushes the new arb in place with drop link bolted up .the bar is a blade adjustable with 3 settings the middle hole for firm road use and hole nearest the rear is good for track use buy just moving the bolt you can adjust the roll resistance this job is easy to carry out and gives great benifits in handling mod no 2 rear diff mount bushes .one of the problems with the impreza is on fast gear changes up or down, you can experience transmision thump caused by the diff x member moving up and down this sound drives me mad the mount for the diff , there are 2 one on each side the poly bush kit to take all the movement out of the diff mounts you only have to remove 3 bolts to do this mod and remove the mount plate bkt to fit bushes(note you do not remove old bushes you are spacing the gap between the body and the original bush again this is an easy job to complete and gives great benifits to handling ,no noise difference is noticable when driving this is the first mods carried out and the difference is unbelieveable if anybody wants any info on how to do these mods pm me geo
  8. you dont have a 4 branch manifold on a scoobie you get it on a normal 4 cl upright engine ie ford fiesta scoobie has twin 2 pot manifolds joined and then an up pipe to turbo (headers) the 4 branch is a performance type that the primary pipes are the same length hope this helps geo
  9. i came out the other morning and heard a funny noise OHH is the sound of my scoobies depreciating ,so is my fiesta st geo

  15. Hey guys, been on holiday been busy and now starting to work on the new toy. My son and i were talking about buying a toy and we spoke to Stuart Chapman of S.C Imports who is a member of the sidc. We had a discussion about what kind of scooby we wanted and the spec and most importantly we did not want to break the bank after all we just wanted a toy. Stuart travelled through to Dunfermline to speak with us direct and off he went leaving us with everything we needed to know about bringing a car to the country, the cost and what we had to do with it when we got it. Stuart phoned the next night to say that he has seen a type RA sti version2 with 60k so he bidded and won it and best of all it was under budget leaving us spare money for the shipping cost. Two nights later i recieved an email containing 2 pictures of the car (see below) From this point stuarts relative who he employes out in japan inspected the car and took some more photos so we had a good idea of what you were buying he also checks the car mechanically and if its not in good condition then they reject the car. Stuart came to see us again to collect the purchase price of the car this gives you time to save for your shipping fee which cost roughly £900 and the car came right to my door, he also gave us more pics of the car (see below) From this point we had roughly a 7 week wait til the car came into the uk, stuart took care of everything he would give us a call every week or so to give us an update on the car,he also ordered the import pack and got it sent to me and also came through to give us the registration pack for the car. We paid for the car and done nothing from there as stuart took care of everything. The car arrived on time right to my door and was over the moon with the car. We have sponsership for the car and GMD automotive are going to town on it we have some other mods for the car but this will take time here are some pics of the car at present. From these next photos you can see how fresh cars from japan are! We are very happy with the car a MASSIVE thanks to stuart chapman from S.C imports who has earned his right of his name on our car!!! we will be buying off him again!!! Hope you enjoyed reading this post guys see you all soon Kev and G eo
