  1. last weekend was spent working on the other track car after many misshaps with cones (tough stuff that plastic or rubber wing dented and rusted some bolts were tight to come off new wing on ready now for new gear box and diff 4.4 ratio to get the acceration up wonder how long it will take to damage it again geo
  2. thats the only type ps i could have said that but trying to explain it simple lol geo
  3. thanks m8 how are you this weather geo
  4. hi john are you not meaning the longer ball joints and longer track rod ends m8 this corrects bump steer among other things --- when you lower a car it can have the effect that on bumpy roads the car wants to pull left or right causing (BUMP _STEER) not a nice feeling -because you have used up all the s/rack control length you are pulling the rack to its max this gives you that effect the mod cures this problem by adding extra length at the rack and alters the perameters it can work under geo
  5. no probs m8 just thought you were trying to catch me out geo
  6. would have used allen key but te heads were chewed thats why i used long nosed mole grips they work as good as anything and if the car has been in scotland with salt etc sometimes you cant get off does that answer your (Q) geo
  7. yes an easy job to remove them geo
  8. and your point is what geo
  9. well the front motorsport anti-lift kit is on and the m/sport h frame attached its now time to fit the 24mm anti-roll bar .its an easy job to fit this arb sit back and relax ,here goes after jacking up your car and securing on stands remove the xmember brace that is secured by 4 12mm nuts and bolts this lets you brop the old arb out of the x member remove the 12mm bolts at either side bkt then remove the drop-links at the bottom arms i use a 12mm spanner and long nose vice grits to hold the d/link with the old arb removed you can offer up the new arb into its bkts and new bushes remember to lube the poly bushes when fitting now its time to fit the drop links easy to build up using instructions(like an airfix kit new bar in now the d/links when i build up the rose jointed links i always fill the sealing rubbers with a teflon water repeling grease(theres that word again , teflon it must be good for something) this gives longevity to the ball ends well thats how to do the job, done in 40min guys.remember to refit the brace to the x member now for the rear strut brace easy jog i let kev do this one alone kev fitted it in 20mins all it takes is removing the 6 x12mm nuts from the strut tops, splitting the bar into 3 main parts and feed it through the bodywork into the turrets then reassemble tighten 6x12mm nuts ,tension the bar on the end of the strut barand bobs your uncle easy i hope you guys are enjoying these posts as much as i am doing them and as kev would say

  13. hi mate, the first mod we made was the 27mm anti-roll bar and alloy drop links, this mod was to tighten up the front end making the front more responsive by altering the roll centre, the alloy drop links are fitted to be able to transmit the torsional increase and the alteration of the roll center. we also fitted the polly bushes to the diff carrier cross member to stop the transmission thump up through the floor the mod carried out today is to alter the caster on the front wishbones by 0.5degrees which in turn cancels out understeer and gives an anti lift qaulity allowing the vehicle to steer into tight bends withut front end wash out, the poly bushes for the steering rack are to fix the steering rack more solidly to the cross member this is the spec the suspension will be. 1) 3way coil overs GMD Automotive by KB with remote gass filled canisters 2) longer ball joints with longer track rod ends this is to combat bump steer 3) anti-lift kit 4)steering rack bushes 5) front 24mm anti-roll bar 6) rose jointed front drop links 7)27mm rear anti-roll bar 8)alloy drop links 9)full adjustable steering tow arms 10) tow lock kit 11) rear strut brace 12)roll cage integral part of strengthing 13)some other mods yet to be decided if you want any other info just pm me geo
  14. this week kev and i are fitting the anti-lift kit and poly steering bushes first some latest piccs of the car been testing some new parts on the car to see how they work first we will show you how to change the anti-lift kit this is the normal subaru rear wishbone fixing to the floorpan it can be improved by fitting the anti-lift kit with poly bushes this is the pin that the bushing sits on at the rear off the wishbone bush and washers removed from the car the new anti lift kit to be fitted note the yellow poly bushes the bush kit is held on by1x 22mm nyloc nut and 2 x19mm bolts into the chassis these are easy to remove on reassembly use copperslip no the threads of the chassis bolts and the assembly grease on the bush and locating pin when building up we fitted a lower brace to strenghten the btm wishbone assembly, this bolts on to the front fixing on the w/bone and the rear bolt at the anti -lft kit the purpose of this mod is to cancel out understeer at knockhill hairpin or any tight corner under power stops the front end from washing out and lets you slide the rear end under full control(my style of driving ) next mod/ poly steering rack bushes this is the old bushes on the car they are tired and flexing so they got to go this a simple mod the bushes are held on by 2x 14mm blolts each side by metal brackets the bkts are now covered in ######/grease the only thing to watch is you may have loosten the pinch bolt on the steering shaft to allow the rack to drop down to be able to fit the new bushes kevs finger is showing you the bolt no fingernails were harmed making this post the new bushes in place time to do the job 20mins/ simple wee task REMEMBER to tighten the pinch bolt next mod will be this rear arms for rear suspension x4 longer ball joints and longer track-rod ends and a rear toe lock kid (pictured with rear arms well that it for another week more mods to come inc exhaust -headers and up pipe geo
  15. paul listen for fuel pump it shpuld prime up for 2-3 secs switch off ign then switch on again you should hear the buz or whir for again 2-3 secs if thats ok then take the main fuel feed at fuel rail from filter and place into a bottle get somewone to crank engine for 5 sec max if there is plenty high preasure its ok .now remove the plugs its easy--remove washer btl to gain access at the pass side rem/ full airfilter other side that will let you in at that side if you have seperate coil packs you will need a 12mm spanner to remove them you cant go wrong refitting them as they are a dedicated length on the wiring its a good time to check for firing at the coil packs place an old s/plug in the end and crank holding the s/p against the engine look for a fat spark if thats ok after cleaning the plugs you will have to go deeper watch for soilled fuel m8 geo
