Well well, the last few posts have been more positive... so kinda evens the balance up a little, though I have to admit that overall it would appear to be a bad thing... I'm going to go for it anyway. The mock-up is not the final design and as I said - mock-ups are false so they don't look right anyway and that detracts from what the actual outcome would be. I'm going to go for orange (I know I doesn't match the gold wheels that well but I hae some track wheels that I might paint!), drop the Gumball stickers. The bonnet will have the same logo across it that you see on the side and lastly the bonnet and bootlid will be done with a blue camoflague design! Later I will add tints to the rear windows and that's it! Thanks for all the comments, good and bad! John

Yes better, but I'm not keen on that though, thanks for the input. I think I'm jsut going to brave it and if it looks crap (which, going by the consensus, it most likely will), then I'll jsut have to live with it till I'm totally sick of it and take them off. At least it will be different and there wont be too many cars in the UK that looks like mine - this is, after all, the whiole point of the exercise - sort of!

Yeah. pretty hard to see.

Good grief - talk about back-lash!!!! Davie (Corsa): I can't peel the stickers off casue there are none on yet, that's jsut a mock-up done in Photoshop. But the car needs something to make it disticntive. The WRC stickers were good for a bit, but the world and its granny has them now. Also been - seen - done that! Stephen: What is it about the Gumball stickers that looks so bad? I was thinking about doing the bonnet and scoop, plus the spolier in camo. For that I'd drop the gumball sticker and replace it with jsut SUBARU where the WRC one goes. I think Imight do another mock up in yellow this time to see how it works out... Squiggle: My pleasure, did the vid work on your N95 ok? Cheers guys, even though you are a bunch of spoil-sports!

That's a negative. But seeing that I break it so often, I have decided to put stickers all over and jsut leave in the driveway at the hosue and never drive it again; like a sort feature if you will, or a monument of sorts

AAAAAAAAAARGGGHHHH!!!!

Yeah me again, sorry to bore you with yet another mock up, but I think this is the last one. If I don't settle on something soon, then I'm going to scrap the idea... maybe! Once again, it is difficult to get decent donor images so the mock up doens't look too convincing. The image is of my car taken at KH on the 15th March. I didn't have the original sized image so the results are poor to say the least, but at least it gives an idea. There WON'T be any camoflague with the design I'm afraid - too much trouble and too much money. The bonnet will have some other sticker and the bumers front and rear will have some other things on too - but these are the main ones Anyhoo, here it is: Rear So?

LOL! Trouble is, not counting the cost of the car from new less than two years ago, I have spent two or three kitchens worth on top of that!!! Can't have it all my way, can I? Be interested to see the software tricks, but like I said before, It's a bit out of my league. Is it possible to use the software also for diagnostics and fault clearing or is it purely a tuning tool?
-
Is that a software demo or a demo of the car's performance or both!!!? Wouldn't mind a wee pax in that now that the first lady has banned me from the track - I mean its only a gear box right? And it was only an engine before that right? Yeeehyaaaa! Who cares!

Ahhhh, you have never been to Hypertech then. You couldn't get a bunch of friendlier or more helpful poeple in the trade IMO.
-
EEEESH! You can buy a whole other car for the cost of replacement bits for these ones!!!
-
Much do these cost?
-
Hope your gettin another Scooby!

Fabulous! Looks great, well done. Now don't let these ones get into such a horrendous state again!

Hmmm not so sure about that with regards to the STi, there are plenty of other models in the range now that do that, starting from diesels all the way up to and including the WRX. The STi should be aimed at the enthusiast.

Here you go Andy...

I looked! But this section from the FAQs put me off Q What is the worst that can happen if something goes wrong? The problems that have the potential to occur include, but are not limited to: An unreadable/unusable ECU. A blown motor and its subsequent damage. Unexpected behavior on the road or track that may cause injury or death to the user as well as others. Violation of local and/or federal laws due to the modification of the factory ECU. I'll leave it to those in the know!

Oh no, I dare not look at this site! I DARE not LOOOOOOK!

Ha! i spotted that too!

I suppose a full and complete review of every part of the car for every type of driver would take too long. I guess they assumed that people buying such a car woudln't be interested in fuel economy, or build quality etc. so he cut to the "good bits". If you think about it, is there really anyway to give a defaco review of a car? I don't think there is. At the end of the day, its nothing more than an insight into the car; a rather blunt instrument.

Yip, exactly where mine came from, still never got to the bottom of it, sorry!

James I'm not really the one to be answering your question, but I guess I'll do until a more knowlegeable person comes along. When the car is remapped, many of the paramaters containtained in the cars ECU - engine management system, are changed. These changes give the car more power and better fuel economy as well as other factors. Strictly speaking, you don't need anything else done to your car to have it re-mapped, however, the mapper can then only take the car so far. Typically, remapping is done to get more power, but new power will need modifications for one of two reasons. 1) to provide more power in the first instance 2) to provide support for the new power. If you bung on a bigger turbo to your car, it will provide higher levels of boost, however your ECU wont be able to see this. When you run your car on boost with the bigger turbo, the ECU will cut power to the engine to protect it as it doesn't know what to do with higher boost levels. Therefore, the car needs to be mapped or sort of reprogrammed to see the new boost levels and use them accordingly. Even with the car running with a new turbo and having been mapped for that turbo, there is a knock-on effect. For example, will there be enough cooling? If no, you need a bigger intercooler. Will the fuel system be able to cope for the greater damands? If no, then you would need bigger injectors and an uprated fuel pump. And on and on it goes! The only way to know what mods your car will need, is to know what you want from the car. Given the car's year of manufacture and model type, one can then build a profile of the mods required to match your requirements. As stated previouly, you can take your car for a remap with no mods, but the mapper can only take it so far. the remap is over £600 and this means it not much bang for your buck. most people start of with sensible mods like a decat exhaust or sports cat exhaust - depending on your car this could give you up to 30 or so added BHP. Most peope will wait until they have collected uprated parts, fit the mall at once and limp the car to the mapper and have him unleash the potential of the car and the new mods. Once you have added more power, will your brakes be able to stop you? Will your car handle well with the new power? on and on it goes, there is practially no limit to what you can do!!!! I'm not sure if any Subaru can be mapped. i know that any Newage can, but Classics, I think use a replacement chip (I know next to nothing about the old cars ). Hope that helps in some way! Oh and by the way, I should let you know that modding is costly, addictive and downright frustrating at times! That said, you cannot not do it! Happy motoring!

Na. Too scared to phone them...
