Pretty grey area im afraid, but it is illegal to alter the silencer of an exhaust to make it louder, also illegal to remove the silencer completely.

Me car is white matey, I think it will look pretty damn good unpainted! Has anyone got anypics of white classics with the carbonfibre bits?
-
Mate I touch goats!
-
If I aint working (shift worker!) I will be there mate! What time do you usually meet up at?
-
The HKS system was given to me by a mate who had it on his McRae series, so it has had quite a bit of use out of it, but as you say i have a brand new one of high quality with that bomb proof lifetime guarantee, so even a should be ok with that! Its good to be able to enjoy her now, especially with the new engine in place! I am gonna be gettng a lot more involved with going to meets etc now that everything has settled down wi the car, so will deffo bump into you at some point bud!
-
It already had a de-cat, but somehow its developed a hole in it! (Think it was thanks to a speed bump when i was on ma hols last week!!) My luck wi cars gets better and better! To be honest a think the system a had was a bit TOO loud, the Magnex one gives off a nice sound, and keeps the neighbours a bit happier too!
-
Thanks dude! Canny wait to get them fitted!
-
Thanks bud, will give him a bell and get it arranged!
-
Am pretty much rubbish at everything though, I am 99.9% guaranteed to make an arse of it. Had a go at the Scoop, thought it didn't look too bad, but it just wasn't happening!
-
Freshly delivered from Scoobyworld, Carbonfibretastic!!! Also, my exhaust has just blown, so just ordered a Magnex 6x4 Oval with de-cat centre section, gettin loads of new toys! Anyone know a decent place to get the spoiler / scoop fitted within the Glasgow area?

A would like to think the turbo on mine is solid having just had a full rebuild (a would hope so anyway??) where could the oil be coming from to get onto the turbo?, or could it just be residue from when the engine was re-built?
-
Just realised it aint your car......doh!
-
I think leave it unpainted, makes it stand out a lot more. Very nice car by the way!
-
That's what I thought it might be aswell mate, but when a had a look around I noticed the oil on the Turbo, which I think is causing the smoke and smell. Ian Grieve are gonna have a look at it when it goes in on the 11th
-
It's just any chance they get to fleece us in anyway they can, no wonder we are shite at everything in this country, except when it comes to heart disease and stabbings, when we outrank every other country in the world!
-
Not that I know of matey, I think the unit was possibly rebuilt though?
-
Very nice mate, looks fantastic in white with the black alloys

Hmmm, I have had a few cars to say the least, so here goes! 1st - Blue Citroen Saxo 1.1 sx 2nd - Black Vauxhall Astra sxi 1.6 3rd - Toyota MR2 Roadster 1.8 4th - Citroen Saxo VTR 1.6 (Would have thought a learned from the first one [:|]) 5th - Series 1 Escort RS Turbo 1.6 6th - Renault Clio Dynamique 1.2 7th - MGZR 1.4 8th - Series 2 Escort RS Turbo 1.6, which I have included a picture of, it was absolutely stunning, only had 36k miles, but was too good to use as an everyday car, so sadly had to get rid of [] 9th - Ford Mondeo lx 1.8 10th - MY 99 UK Impreza Turbo 2000 awd..........The best yet! Oh, and I am only 23 and have been driving 5 years!
-
Exactly, it really isn't worth messing about with the engine unless you have serious amounts of cash to spend, and know exactly what you are doing. Let's face it, they aint exactly sluggish as standard! I will be very happy once I get the airbox sorted, and the oil smoke issue dealt with!
-
It's going into Ian Grieve on the 11th August to have a standard airbox put on, so I am going to get them to give it a look over, and see what's what. When the oil/filter change is being done, I will get the guy to have a look at the oil on the Turbo aswell, I am starting to get totally paranoid now P1 Nut thanks for the advice mate, it is basically everyday driving to work, and just general use, has an induction kit which I am about to replace with the standard box, and a HKS exhaust with de-cat centre section, but that is it mods wise. Think am gonna stick with 10W-40 then
-
Opened her up today, running fantastic, really nice! The smoke is getting a bit worse when I stop, but I had a good look, and there is Oil on the turbo right in at the back, there is no leak, I think it might just be needing cleaned off the turbo, don;t think there is any leak causing it, think it is just being cooked when the turbo gets really hot, cos it don't happen on short journeys
-
Hi There, I am just about to change the oil/filter for the 1000mile's after the engine was rebuilt. What's the best oil to use, I know there are loads of different opinions regarding it, but just looking to see what you all think I should use Cheers []
-
I have just had to rebuild the engine in MY99 UK Turbo, due to running lean and melting a piston due to not being set up properly after the Blitz induction kit was put on by a previous owner, so I am now booking it into Andy Forrest to have it set up properly, and release a few more horses too! Deffo get it set up properly mate
-
1063, it is bloody addictive though!!!!
-
Good decision matey, deffo keep the Scoob, you would regret gettin shot of it!. Nothing beats getting into it, and starting it up, and the sound of that flat four ticking over, IMHO there is not a better engine note that the Scooby flat four!
