Hmmm, so many different opinions and thoughts regarding it. Thanks for the comments guys, I think am gonna get hold of a standard air box, and go get the MAF sensor checked by a garage. Anyone reccommend a good garage in the Cumbernauld/Glasgow area?

Folks, After all the nonsense with the melted piston I had, I decided to look into all the possible reasons it happened, one of which being that I have a Blitz induction kit, which was on the car when I bought it, and I know the MAF sensor don't like induction kits. I phoned Iain Grieve for a quote for a standard Subaru air box, and a new MAF sensor. Was quoted £459.03 incl fitting. Do you think it needs both?, or just a new air box or MAF. What's the best thing to do, just don't want it going bang again!

Am sure you gave me a tick tock with the indicators mate! Was a very nice example mate, am a big fan of the RB5!

Forgot to add, lifed the bonnet, it seems to be coming from the driver side, which I know is the quite common for the gasket to go, it is a fine white smoke, not thick at all, and only seems to happen at idle

Folks, Last week or so since gettin the scoob back, I have noticed when I stop there is the odd puff of smoke coming from the scoop and vents, and the smell of burned oil. The new engine is running fine, better than ever, it's idling fine and aint overheating. Do you reckon it's just the rocker cover gasket? Just worried the engine is f****d again, totally paranoid now [][][]

Couple of snaps from today of some Scoob's and my all time favourate Ferrari!! Had a fantastic day, was good to put some faces to the names, and I was blown away by the standard of the cars on the SIDC stand, put all the other stands to shame! Some of the cars on the other stands were a pile of w**k, did anyone see the standard Rover 25 and Fiat Stillo? WTF!!!!! Highly impressed by oobster's and ED 209's cars, outstanding! Only downside to the day being I nearly burst into flames on several occasions, and it is painfull to type as I burnt the sodding tips of my fingers due to driving with my right arm out the window holding onto the roof......if you can kinda picture what I am trying to say [:^)] All in all a great day, and look forward to loads more shows/meets in the Scoob! PS To cheer myself up after nearly catching fire and the whole burnt fingers incident, had a bit of retail therapy and ordered some very nice carbon fibre goodies from Scoobyworld.....will post pics when I get it all fitted!

After the 1000 mile mark there aint gonna be anymore driving miss daisy that's for sure!

Been out enjoying her in this fantastic weather all day, so thought would wash and polish her for her big day tomorrow, her first outing to a car show as an SIDC member!! What do you think? Thanks guys, have been out in her all day, been driving everywhere, perfect driving weather! Am just glad it's finally all over and can just enjoy her again, forgot how good driving a Scooby was!! Arnold Clark to there credit came through for me in the end, and a have to say the general manager of the branch was really good, he got things sorted, so fair play to him!

I HAVE FINALY GOT MY SCOOBY BACK AND IT IS RUNNING FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!! New engine thanks to API Engines, it is now going better than ever, and what makes it even better is that Arnold Clark very kindly paid for the whole thing, I didn't have to pay a penny! The saga is finally over, thank christ!!!

Finally, after 80 days of being Scoobyless, my newly built engine has found it's way from Subaru to Grangemouth, and will (Hopefully!!!!!!!!!!) be ready on Thursday or Friday of this week. It has been soooooo hard driving shite for so long knowing what I should have been driving, but finally it seems sorted [][] Oh am delighted hunners!!!!!! Just waiting for the "Eh, bit of bad news am afraid......." phonecall!!
