Not as of yet, still making a few enquiries at the moment though, so fingers crossed. Getting more and more frustrated though.

Thanks for that mate. Thats the thing, its absolutely immaculate, a fantastic example, and apart from the obvious issues I have enjoyed every last second of driving it, that maked it even more bloody frustrating. Has deffo not put me off Scoobies though, I just can't wait to get this whole mess sorted and get her back on the road! I have sent a wee e-mail to Hypertech, see if they can help me out.

Thanks for the comments guys. Just back from the branch, the bottom end on it is away. Won't go to much into what was said, but basically the car now needs a new engine. I will be taking this further, I am not being left with the bill for this, so the sales folk are sorting something out with me, but I am looking to source a new engine for her. Would anyone be able to point me in the right direction for a new one?

Basically I was driving hom one night, and the car grind to a halt (1 month and 4 days after I bought it). Spoke to Arnold Clark the next day, and they recovered it back to grangemouth renault where I bought it, and after a few days they told me that all compression on Cyl No 1 was lost due to a melted piston, possibly due to oil starvation. They were then humming and hawing, firstly told that they would source a new engine, then I was told they would replace the gubbed bits and rebuild it. Nearly two months later, I am told that the engine is damaged internally, and that it could possibly blow at anytime, althought the car is driving, just every so often there is a knock from the bottom end. I am tempted just to go get the car back, and see if someone who knows about the impreza engine will have a look at it. I just don't have a clue what to do next. Im am utterly gutted

I have just received a phone call from Arnold Clark, was the old good news/bad news line. He said the car is ready, and running, bad news being that there is a bit of a knock coming from the bottom end, and his helpfull suggestion is that the engine is about to blow up and I need to punt it ASAP!! I could not actually believe what he was telling me, oh and then he said it was Cyl number 4 that was causing all the problems, not Cyl number 1 like I was told in the first place. He is saying that he spoke to Subaru and they were saying that when you start putting induction kits, and engine re-maps (car hasn't been mapped as far as I know) on that it starts to cause internal problems, and was told to put it back to standard. A just can't believe what am hearing. I have been told to keep the courtesy car another week, and to try and sell the scooby. Am still in shock to be honest. Would appreciate your thoughts guys [:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(][:'(]

Thanks guys! With regards to the oil, I think Subaru will keep them right on all the right things to do to keep the car on the straight and narrow, am really glad they are taking it to Subaru, makes me sleep a lot better knowing that they are getting the real experts to have a proper look before they give me it back! I will deffo not be ragging it for a good while, will be at least 1000 miles before I will have the courage to give it some again!

Arnold Clark phoned me the other day. They received the parts from Subaru on Tuesday, and have begun work on the car. They have said when she is finished, they are taking her to Subaru so they can run diagnostics on her, and are aiming, bar any problems (touch HUGE amounts of wood there wont be) to get me the car back on Wednesday!!! I WANT HER BACK NOW!!!! At least they are taking it to Subaru to get it all checked over, that makes me a lot happier about the whole thing!

Going back to my outrageous luck since buying my Scooby, Arnold Clark are covering most, if not all of the cost of repair to my baby. Turns out Cylinder No 1 has lost all compression due to a melted piston! They have had a specialist look at it, and they say it happened due to oil starvation! Anyhow, they are rebuilding the damaged parts, and have ordered among other things a new piston from Subaru. I am just curious as to how much this kind of work will cost, any one have a rough idea of how much new part would be??

Thanks guys. Andywrx, I certainly wasn't give or shown any PSI checklist, not at any point. My Finacee is just off the phone to them, they say that they understand how bad the situation is (To be fair the guy was brandnew) and according to him, they will more than likely be covering the whole cost of any repairs or, most likely, the new engine. I have also been given a courtesy car, which I pick up tomorrow, which I have been given for the duration of the work. Looks like they may have seen the light, and are now really trying to put the problem right, fair play to them if they are true to their promise[] If they do turn round and give me anymore grief about it, thanks to the info you guys have given me I will be better equipt to deal with it, appreciate it folks []

Well, after a month of Scooby ownership, disaster. Few days ago, the car broke down coming home from work. I got my dad to tow me home. Contacted Arnold Clark Grangemouth where I bought it, who so helpfully pointed out that my 1 month warranty had expired 4 days previously, however said they would recover the car for free, and have a look at it and "help with the costs of repair" as I am, after all still an Arnold Clark customer. Well, just had a phonecall, during which I was told all compression has been lost on Cylinder No 1, and looks like a melted piston or valve. A new engine was mentioned, and apparently they have a low miles one down in England, however I am het for the bill for it, they will do as much as they can they say, but most of the cost will be down to me. Is there anything I can do guys, as I Cannot afford a hefty repair bill, never mind a new sodding engine. Arnold Clark are really good to you when they are taking your money, however when you have a problem they are not interested one bit. Does anyone have any suggestions, help is very much appreciated [:'(]

Hi Folks, After what seems like about a thousand years, I have been able to finally get a decent insurance quote for an Impreza, and I am now the very proud owner of this stunning UK Turbo 2000, 1999 model! I have had everything from S1 and S2 Escort RS Turbos, MR2 Roadster, MGZR, but it has always been a Scooby I craved for, and now thanks to Elephant.co.uk, I can actually afford the insurance!! Just wanted to say Hi and introduce myself, loving the forum already
