Gramps I will be going up to this but Aidon (owner of Bad Ass Performance) has requested that my car is on their stand. Would still like to go up with you and the lads.

I understand where you were coming from Simon. Clive

Hi Andy and welcome to the club. I have never met your brother in law but heard much about him. Apparently his private interests include sheep, novels by J.T.Edson and The History of Spanish toilet manufacturers. Other than that he seems to be an aright fella

Agree and proven yr after yr (TA)

Good luck Matt

But one thing we all have, is the pleasure of what we own. (until it breaks down ) ""Until it breaks down" is the one thing that is always on the mind of a driver who has been in competition or who drives a car with moderate to high mods. I have thought that many times with previous cars I have owned and indeed it has happened many times, but the strange thing is I have never once thought that in the P1. I am not saying it wont happen because somewhere down the line it may break somewhere, but I guess that is one of the unseen issues using a company like RCM. I know they are expensive but that alone is worth it, not to mention their knowledge.

JGM.. I have driven many high end cars but not to this spec. I have owned 2 drag race prepared Chevy's one running 830 at the fly wheel, raced a lister prepared XJS at Goodwood in the Supercars Trophy sponsored by the Lamborgini Owners Club, National Karts (many), RS Pinto Escort used in Auto Testing etc. My driving ability does not worry me in the slightest. Ask Mike Wilds at Brands, he was sitting besides me at North Weald when I done the 1:15 lap and I asked him how much faster he would go and he replied "maybe 1 second". (dont forget that Evo that got the 1:14 had 520 bhp. I had about 420. The Evo pulled down that initial straight much faster than I did !. My time was made up through the bends at the far end. In saying that I have still got a lot to learn with the P1 because the "feel" will be different. The thing that will be different for me is that it will be the first 4x4 with power I have driven.

I agree with all your points fella's. All have different power, gear ratio's etc. 0 - 60 is so hard to achieved accurate figures, and as Gramps said much time is lost due to the launch the car/owner is prepared to use. To be honest 1st gear in my car will be a waste of time, and more than likely 2nd too. Not too sure what gear to be in for the 30mph launch at the 30 - 130 event. Will be good fun though and looking forward to it. At the end of the day I have had my car done for me. If it proves the 25th fastest car in Kent, so be it & I will be first to congratulate guys that beat me in competition. It's it not about me impressing people it's about me enjoying my car. I share most info with everyone on my SN thread.....BUT there are some things Olly has mentioned to me that I have kept to myself for reasons that will become clear later

JGM has a good point. The initial question of this thread could have many answers. BHP / lb ft / standing quarter / 0 - 60 / 60 - 0 / 30 -130 / lap times / Lateral G / Peak G / Power to Weight ratio's and so on. Big BHP figures do not determine the fastest car. Big Lb/ft means nothing if the car is too heavy. BHP & lb/ft are only two different scientific calculations of the engines output, not the VEHICLES performance !. In all levels of motor sports or high end modifications the only important factor for success is Power to Weight ratio's. The cars with the best PTW that can generate good mechanical grip will always win. Last year F1's were knocking out 640 - 700bhp. Top Fuels were knocking out between 7600 - 8020 bhp. I have not got a clue about the lb ft because it's never mentioned, so it cannot be generally rated as an accurate source of vehicle performance. At the end of the day we all drive a vehicle, not an engine.

Winter Blast Brands Hatch 27th February 2009

75% yes / 25% no. Olly is fully aware of my booking and they are going balls out to try and get it finished for that event. Fingers Crossed -
I'm not Gramps. RCM have opted for the turbo that kicks in at around 4K
-
If you tell me the word you were going to use, I may consider the dyno day Been advised 560 with the 30/37 Turbo or 580 with the next turbo up. They did not say the spec/model of that one. Will be laggy using the big one though boosting at around 5000+ The 30/37 has been mentioned as the optimum for my engine and will prove quicker than a large turbo. Actually one guy who does have sound knowledge and owns a car that will soon be running 600+ with race fuel said that RCM's new 30/37 with 44mm waist gate will prove the best performance for the road (with my engine).

I know of nutter that will be approaching 600bhp in the next 2 weeks

Six yrs ago I was in Miami at the same time The Superbowl was on. Trying to park the car was mad. For a minute I was convinced I was going to end up getting a parking space in friggin Canada ! Some facts I have found on NASCAR First race 19th June 1949 NASCAR attracts over 6 million paying spectators every year. 75 million people watch every race at home. (one third of US adult population). Temperatures inside the race cars can reach 140 degrees. Driver's that have sadly died whilst driving in NASCAR * Joe Weatherly, Riverside, January 1964 * Fireball Roberts, Charlotte, July 1964 * Friday Hassler, Daytona, February 1972 * Larry Smith, Talladega, May 1973 * Tiny Lund, Talladega, August 1975 * Ricky Knotts, Daytona, February 1980 (qualifying race) * Bruce Jacobi, injuries suffered in a 1983 wreck at the 125-mile qualifying races at Daytona (he would remain in a coma until he died in 1987) * Terry Schoonover, Atlanta, November 1984 * Rick Baldwin, injured during qualifying attempt at Michigan in 1986, succumbing in 1997. * Grant Adcox, Atlanta, November 1989 * J. D. McDuffie, Watkins Glen, August 1991 * Neil Bonnett, Daytona, February, 1994 (in practice) * Rodney Orr, Daytona, February, 1994 (in practice) * Kenny Irwin, Loudon, July 2000 (in practice) * Dale Earnhardt, Daytona, February 2001, Daytona 500 (see also Death of Dale Earnhardt) * Clifford Allison, Michigan, 1992 (in practice) * Adam Petty, Loudon, May 2000 (in practice) * John Nemechek, Homestead-Miami, February 1997 * Tony Roper, Texas, October 2000 * Richie Evans, Martinsville, 1985 (in practice) * Charlie Jarzombek, Martinsville, 1987 * Corky Cookman, Thompson International Speedway, 1987 (Charlie J. Memorial race) * Kenny Minter, Caraway Speedway, 1995 * Tom Baldwin Sr., Thompson International Speedway, 2004 * John Blewett III, Thompson International Speedway, 2007 * David Gaines, Charlotte, May 1990 * Gary Batson, Charlotte, May 1992 * Russell Phillips, Charlotte, October 1995

Gramps, have I paid for this ??

I heard a commentator say this. Back in the 50's guys in the US would modify their cars to out run the cops in the outback. The cars where normally contain illegal drink, namely moonshine. Much money was to be made, so many started running the moonshine between states. One day someone? came up with the idea of having an event race, the moonshine runners being the only competitors. The following year they done the same. The event ran EVERY year and still does. We now know it as NASCAR. Your correct Trevor. I believe it draws more spectators than any other US motorsport? and huge sponsorship. I am also pretty sure that many driver's have a contract inclusion of $ 1M per race win!
