corsa Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 He was an icon, an inspiration to us all and long may the legend continue bringing a smile to all Rally fans world wide. Thoughts are with all family and friends. From all at GMC-MOTORSPORT.
jamie_wood Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 We will never ever see another like him. A "friend" for over twenty years and an inspiration in many ways. In his words, "we are here for a good time, not a long time" I just wish he had been here for a good while longer. Lets never forget him or his son Johnny and the other two friends that have been lost in this tragedy. As I have said already, thanks for the memories Colin.
micra_wrc Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Cruelly taken from us in such a heartbreaking way. May you enjoy going "flat out" in God's Special Stage. You will always in be in our hearts. Rest In Peace Colin

paulc555 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.... I met Colin several times in the early years during his campaign with the Legacy...and his many visits to Ireland....and like so many others it was him who kindled my passion for the Subaru brand..... A great loss to the world of rallying, not many had the skill, guts and determination to drive the pants of anything that was put in front of them... Its been a sad few years for British/Irish rallying as a whole with the loss of Richard Burns, the great Bertie Fisher and now our hero Colin... Rest in Peace Colin..... Paul, Joneen & Erin....

bmwhere? Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 My first memory of Colin McRae goes back to the 1994 Rally GB - The first appearance of the Subaru Impreza on a UK rally and the first time I had attended a WRC event. The Impreza was a very ordinary looking car compared to the Toyota Celica's and Escort Cosworths that it was competing against, but the way it was being driven through the forrest stages was far from ordinary! I was left in awe every time the blue and yellow wonder flew past me faster and more sideways than anything else and was overjoyed at the end of the rally that it was McRae standing on the top of the podium! I left that rally, a fully converted McRae fan, promising myself one day I would own a Subaru Impreza! No other driver has ever been so inspiring to watch. A thrill on every appearance! I am so greatfull to Colin McRae for all the entertainment he has given me over the years and the inspiration in my life to become both a rally fan and Subaru fan! THANK YOU COLIN McRAE! My thoughts are now with his family and friends at this extremely sad time! Rest in Peace!
