peter_reid Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Just got mine in and its only £175 [] for a 93 WRX import (with STI engine []) And yesterday got even better news. Car failed MOT for split boot on the steering arm [] £7 for a pair from local parts shop,20 mins to change it,£10 re-sit SORTED [][][] Car is full de-cat as well but passed emmisions etc with flying colours Weeellll chuffed Pete
oz *sti* Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Just got mine yesterday also sti v3 import £175 for the year ya beauty []
iainc Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 Not looking forward to the road tax when it's due in November for the new STi right enough, just lucky that the Leon Cupra TDi we have only costs £110 for the year so it works out similar to having two "normal" cars anyway [] Renewal for the Leon came in this morning too []
lestippp Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 That will be right enough guys, as only cars registered after March 23rd (ish) 2006 will be subjected to the new "evil" road tax! I was concerned when I bought my car in March this year that it would be hit but it is also exempt (as reg'd in June 05), even though its emissions are technically in the highest band. Think old Gordon was working on the theory that "global warming" was a very big issue by this time. Personally I think the whole thing is a conspiracy to fleece car fanatics out of yet more money! What will they do if everyone starts driving 1000cc sh*t mobiles.... it will cost them a fortune in lost tax income!! They will them find something to tax on these crappy cars to make up 4 it. And another thing, if we are indeed warming up the world, how come it was only the mildest winter since 1916, not since records began!!! What was causing "global warming" then eh... HORSE MANURE!!! And another thing, won't we all use our central heating much less if it is warmer hence all those huge power plants, etc will greatly reduce there astronomical emmisions!! And another, if we all started using electric cars where do they suppose we will get the electricity from.... a windmill on their roof!!! Sorry, got carried away, I'm just sick of all the tax that is being levelled at cars and car owners. We are just car enthusiasts who could be getting up to much worse, like sitting at home all day claiming benefit with the heating on full! Anyway I will easily get 19mpg if I drive sensibly, I'm sure my car uses fuel when it is parked!!
thewelsho Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 Everything about my WRX: emmissions, date of registration states that I should be in Band G, but according to my renewal that I received today (7th) I'm not in G, I'm in F. Happy days! Any one else? So much for thinking I was getting away with it. Ran the renwal online...
frank c Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 OOOUCHH ! That's got to hurt mate. Still , at least it's cheaper than next year [] Feel for you dood.
colin_ross Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Take that letter and £210 down to the post office and chance your arm. What have you got to loose.
thewelsho Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 OOOUCHH ! That's got to hurt mate. Still , at least it's cheaper than next year [] Feel for you dood. Ach well, hardly the end of the world and I'm in the same boat as many others on here. However, I think I will take Colin's advice, nothing ventured, nothing gained. []
scouk Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Yeow! that's nasty! Just for the sake of comparison, I did mine online the other day £205 for 2001 bugeye WRX..
Alan-G Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I'm in the same boat as you John. :-( But WTF, "Warning, Do not use your browsers ' Back ' Button as this may cause yo....... What !! The Back button is the thing that people use the whole time ! to see if they have made any mistakes within the form they are filling in ! ? If a Government web site cannot handle this basic function, then what the hell are they doing ? This is the most unproffesional thing I've seen yet. From a Government ! C'mon. Does this not show the reallity, which is , well we can't even have a proper web-site IT guy, but were gonna skim every penny out of you whether you like it or not.

STI9 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 So whats the yearly road tax for My05 STI , is it 300 bangers?
james_mowbray Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I thought Id get away with this having a MY2000 JDM sti, but because it was registered in the UK after March 2006 I get hit with the highest band. [8o|] ahhhh well [:'(] James
colin_ross Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I'd appeal that James, should be based on the date of manufacture in my opinion.
st3ph3n Posted April 18, 2007 Posted April 18, 2007 Not to take the topic too far off topic - but the back thing is pretty common. If you fill in a form on a website and then move to the next stage then often a lot of processing has gone into verifying and storing the data you've just submitted. When you press back and then try and resubmit it then there are all sorts of factors to consider when re-processing the data. Particularly in the case of these government forms your security and that of the site. Also the data may be time sensitive, and things may have changed from the form being created the first time round and how it should have been created if you were trying again. Multi-part forms should provide navigation so you can move back and forward between the parts of the form to make changes as nescessary. If they don't then you're more then right to claim they're useless. Otherwise - I'm not having it. Stephen the public sector web form man.

james_mowbray Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I'd appeal that James, should be based on the date of manufacture in my opinion. I'm awaiting reply James Thank you for your email. Any vehicle registered in the UK on or after 23rd March 2006 with a Co2 emissions of 225 g/km or over will be placed in the highest Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) Band of G. The current VED for 12 months in this band is £300 this will increase to £400 in 2008. I have checked the vehicle record for T5 **M and the Co2 emissions for the vehicle are 343 g/km. Even though the vehicle was manufactured and registered outside the UK before 23rd March 2006 it is not possible to change the VED Band. I trust my reply has been of some assistance.
