Folks,

Have a bit of a dilema. As some of you know have a MY06 WRX. I need some help, I want my rumble back!!

BUT, I really want it to be nice and quiet. Whats my options, I refuse to go buy an exhaust and discover its too loud.

So who has the quietest exhaust, but has a scooby rumble. !!??

I went for a de-resinated mid section and wr sport backbox (thanks again bandit) on my 06 sti. This certainly brought out the burble, without giving me a sore head when driving. Looks pretty subtle too [Y] Not sure if you would get the same sound from a wrx, but I imagine it wouldn't be far off..

I made a short video clip of how it sounds now, bearing in mind that it sounded like a hairdryer before [:$]

I did a similar mod only with a Prodrive back box. The de-resonated CS has given me a slighly louder sound and a deeper tone, just lovely! To answer your question, I'd suggest a Prodrive back box on its own. I got a nice burble when I removed the WRX silencer in favour of the Prodrive one and it's really not too intrusive at all.

Prodrive or WR Backbox and centre de-resonated section is the way to go. The 3rd cat de-cat isnt available for your car yet other than via Prodrive as part of PPP kit. It is 6" longer than the Blob and bugeyes as I found out from trying to fit one to Welsho's motor.[:D]

If your interested in a quality stainless steel de-resonated centre (as fitted to 4 Hero and Welsho's motor) and many others on here[Y] then give me a bell as my mate fabricates these. You wont be disappointed with the quality guaranteed! or the price for that matter[;)]

Fair doos [;)] Bandits a mug tho. Nae wonder he only ever talks about mods rather than doing them[:D][:o]

Anyhoo, where is Bandit???? sadly lacking in daft posts from him recently[:P]

Ah yes! Should have mentioned. The quality of the stainless exhaust bits are fantastic. Not that I'd know anything about it, but the guys who where fitting the bits made comment. Sounds much nicer now with the new CS Gus, cheers mate! [:D][Y]

It is a shame you have an 06 plate mate.

I am selling a scoobyworld ninja backbox and centre section that will fit a bugeye and a blobeye.  It gives a nice deep burble and because the centre is still resonated (but high flowing) it isn't too loud.  the scooby burble is awesome.

It is selling for £280 ono and that includes a decat pipe.

Decat pipe doesn't, the rest does. Got the decat from Gus and it was too short. Changed it for a de-resonated CS though, sounds mucho better. Decat in the new year.

Chris, where did you get the decat? Did you find any other difference with this other than sound?

I got my decat pipe form scoobyworld.  It released a wee bit more power.  The turbo spools up earlier and you can hear it a wee bit better.

IMHO it is a worthwhile mod. 

They have decat pipes on there to fit the hawkeye.

The centre section i have has a high flow resonator on it so it quietens things down a bit but isn't too restrictive.  A lot better than the standard centre section.

The ninja from bug/blob will fit on the 06. No probs, I actually sold mine before I got the 06 thinking it was different fittings. I got the car checked out and exactly the same CS and backbox size.

So I had to go buy a new exhaust Centre Section and Afterburner Vortex. Probably louder than what you are looking for. Like previous posts if you are after subtle burble CS and prodrive, sport backbox. When its better weather over the weekend ill get a sound clip up of the vortex on an 06 STI

Chris, yeah that helped. I will defo go for the 3rd Cat delete in time. I'll have a wee look on SW to see what the got and the prices they are charging. What's the quality of the pipes like? Are they stainless as well? Sorry more questions!

Oh dear, so many options. Thanks to all for the offers to get an exhaust. I am not in a position to get one this side of Xmas. I should be taking the car for a new turbo/remap the end of Jan/Feb ( unless I dent it!!) Just now I'm doing the whole, whats my option and cost, but all your help is much appreciated.

Just bought a new 56 WRX yesterday and went for the prodrive option.

Should be fitted next week and I'll get my burble back plus a bit more oomph!

Just another thought. The PPP is approved by Subaru and does not affect the warranty. Don't know if that would apply to other aftermarket systems
