scoobyiain Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Just went onto performance direct for a quick quote for an sti type ra. I'm 25 with 7 years no claims, convictions or points. Car would be parked in driveway and will only cover less than 6000 miles in the year. They quoted me £1870 fully comp. wtf Gonna give a few more companys a try tomorrow on the phone, hopefully i can get a better quote than that if not then it looks like i may have to consider non turbo.
ANDYJDMSTI Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Do a search for insurance threads and you will find all the info you need []
david_taylor Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Best searching online mate..always cheaper as you cut out the cost of talking to someone. Thats just a insane quote!

david_taylor Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I was surprised by the quote I got from Barclays. 490 for 28yrs old and 6 yrs no claims! Give them a try!
nanaki Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 god damn, I pay nearly that for mine. however I knew it was gonna be a hell of a lot. Difference is i only have 2 years no claims and I'm 22. I've only had a licence for 3 as well and do double that milage in a year. You should be able to find a much lower quote than that. I bought my scooby after already getting quotes so I knew what I was in for.
andy Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Norwich Union through Keith Michaels, but you got to be an SIDC member to get the discounts. Was with A-Plan, got an SIDC members quote from Keith Michaels for renewal. A-Plan asked how much to keep my business and admitted they couldn't come close. That alone - even leaving out the SIDC discount from Ian Grieve on servicing made the SIDC membership pay for itself three times over. Membership is a no-brainer, IMO.
craigwrx Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Keith Michaels A-Plan Greenlight A lot of scooby drivers are insured with one of the above, if u cant afford the best offer from any of these companies, then i very much doubt u will succeed in obtaining insurance. Good luck ! Craig
scooby doom Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Just sorted mine out today with several mods through Keith Michaels - £495 with all the boxes ticked [][Y] Give Gary Moulson at Keith Michaels a call on 02086427868 you may be surprised at the deal you get.

oobster Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Another vote for Gary @ Keith Michaels - cheapest by far this time last year and just about to renew with them on Monday [Y]
WHITEUK Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 When i was 24 with only 1 yrs no claims i was about 1900 through tesco with my car as standard which was by miles the cheapest quote so if your 25 with more no claims they should give you a far better deal. What im paying now with them is a bit more but still cheapest i can find[]
micra_wrc Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Quote Keith MichaelsA-Plan Greenlight A lot of scooby drivers are insured with one of the above, if u cant afford the best offer from any of these companies, then i very much doubt u will succeed in obtaining insurance. Good luck ! Craig agree with Craig. With the RA being such a specific version of Impreza, I found that the big high street players didnt have it in their database. It was great when I phoned specialist insurance companies cos when they asked "make and model of vehicle" I didnt have to go through a list of scoobs with them saying "no, not WRX, not Sport" etc etc as they had the RA listed and then they said "guess its an import then" []
dipsy Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 Just phoned Privelege and changed my excess to 450 but insurnace now 648 with no claims discount protection
the squiggle Posted October 14, 2006 Posted October 14, 2006 I pay 950 a year through Kieth Micheals with mods declared but i do stay in the Scottish equivilent of Bierut. Highest quote i got was 1800 from the AA
