micra_wrc Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 edit - see p3 for result Which one is lighter? My v2 STi RA V-Limited versus the Squirrel’s v2 STi Limited? To settle a debate and also raise funds for Santa Cruise, we thought it may be good to open this question to the forum. We are going to weigh our cars to see what is lighter - a bog standard STi RA or a modified STi with bits stripped out! We will go to the local weigh bridge next month to get the cars weighed, both cars will be emptied of tools, shoes etc and will have a full tank of petrol. Add your name against the car you think is lighter and if you lose we are asking for a £5 donation to Santa Cruise We have profiled our cars below. STi RA is lighter1. Imy 2. STi Limited is lighter 1. Squirrel 2.
micra_wrc Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 The Little Lady: v2 STi RA Plus points Lightweight chassis Alloy bonnet and panels Minimal electrical gadgets – no central locking, electric mirrors or rear wash wipe Minus points Air conditioning I know there are more plus points for me but not surprisingly I have lost my trusty scooby adviser in this instance []
RA Dunk Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Hmm duno, your would be lightest out of the factory but squirrel has taken bits off and added a light weight bonnet so it`s a tough call [:S]

micra_wrc Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 not sure what you are meaning Colin, there's no sting here [*-)] you can be our impartial adjudicator when we go to the weigh bridge if you wish just wanting to prove a point and hopefully show Squirrel that RAs are lighter, no matter how much you strip out your motor to lose weight []
the squiggle Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 First time i have ever been accused of trying to lose weight!

Wouldn't mind popping along if I'm free to see where the type r comes in too.
micra_wrc Posted August 20, 2006 Author Posted August 20, 2006 no probs [] will post up when and where we will be going
st3ph3n Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Should we have a "weigh your scooby day". Like a rolling road day but for weight. Who's got the lightest car in Scotland?
RA Dunk Posted August 20, 2006 Posted August 20, 2006 Who's got the lightest car in Scotland? let`s hope Andy.F disna show up then [][]
darryll Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 How come u guys have door pockets i got bloody light weight nets in the type r why aint the RAs got these.the nets r a real weight saver cause nowt stays in them lol.
JohnSt Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 Sounds like fun this, I'll stick a tenner in the fund regardless of outcome, but my money would be on the the Lady as Grant as only removed some girly lightweight stuff (it's for a good cause). Weigh bridges typically have a 20KG tolerance so be carefull Just for info, Andy easily has the lightest car in Ecosse. I would think mine would come in second, unless anyone has been on a serious diet and has kept quite about it, I reckon it is currently 1015kg
fai17 Posted August 21, 2006 Posted August 21, 2006 STi RA is lighter 1. Imy 2. Drb5 3. C3SSE 4. Fai17 STi Limited is lighter 1. Squirrel 2. st3ph3n 3. WRXMANIA (just lighter) 4. Oz *STI*

micra_wrc Posted August 21, 2006 Author Posted August 21, 2006 Thanks John. I've already asked Grant how many weigh bridges there are in Glasgow, in case there is a discrepancy or dispute but he wouldnt tell me LOL Daryll, light weight nets? Guess door pockets wouldnt really suit a sleek 2-door Type R [*-)] STi RA is lighter 1. Imy 2. Drb5 3. C3SSE 4. Fai17 5. JohhnSt (£10 donation regardless of winner) STi Limited is lighter 1. Squirrel 2. st3ph3n 3. WRXMANIA (just lighter) 4. Oz *STI*
the squiggle Posted August 22, 2006 Posted August 22, 2006 Clearly JohnSt has been smoking my Tobagan JPS, On the scales with a full tank and all fluids topped off i got the "Red Shed" down to 1050kg. This involved what could only be described as dangerous mods but the side exit exhaust saved a fair bit The Little Lady comes with Electric Windows, unusual for a RA but they are present and correct.
