STi_Bandit Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Right next month iam going to start buying bits for stage 1 Engine Mods. Iam just buying the parts just now and not fiiting them until i have them all for one big fitting season. So they will sit in my room for a while. Also if anyone can suggest cheaper places where i can get these parts it would be great and also if ive forgoton anything. So the List is as Follows :- 1. Walbro 255 Uprated Fuel Pump (TSL Motorsport) 2. APS Cold Air Induction Kit (WRC Technolgies) 3. Full APS 3" Exhaust to 4" tailpipe with Integrated 3" Cat (WRC Technolgies). Just to make sure ive not forgoton anything that i might need in this first stage. ONCE i have these bits an Andy F Remap will be Done. Cheers Martin
STi_Bandit Posted August 9, 2006 Author Posted August 9, 2006 lol one Lead boot ordered and tyre :-) Car has just had its 30k service so there should be a brand new set of plugs in her, unless you need to uprate the plugs?? Martin
st3ph3n Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I didn't get plugs for my 30K I'm sure. Other items you might want to think of - an oil catch can or having the crank breathers vented to atmosphere. Have a wee search on the forums and you'll find a really good explanation of why and how. RMCS uprated oil pump too perhaps? Pretty cheap and a good insurance policy. Decent set of gauges or OBDII data reader so you can watch that everything's not going out the windae? Laughing gas?
ormiboy Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 you might need to down size your plugs gap depending on what sort of boost andy will be able to dial in. Andy would be the chap to double check with. He had me take my gap down to 0.6 prior to mapping my apexi. bet you cant wait! willie
G.Mac Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 e-mail Mr F and he shall give you an honest answer Graeme
zeolite Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Have you forgotten anything? How about a tow car, trailer, 16" race tyres and a BMW? []
Gumball Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Martin, Walbro fuel pump should be bought at proven pruducts rather than that mob. about 80quid. i woudnt buy an APS system. that really is paying for nike when gola work just as well. Go to willie at Meercat and get one made for you for 1/2 the price.
drb5 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I'd be sticking a FPR on your list and a decent boost controller like the AVCR.
wrxmania Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Will the boost not be controlled by the EcuTek remap?
G.Mac Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 You might want to consider getting a larger wasegate machined and new penny fitted as the VF35 turbos like to boost creep, I had mine ported without the larger wastegate penny etc and sometimes under high load it over boosts, Had this once at knockers and one on the private test track Graeme
drb5 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Will the boost not be controlled by the EcuTek remap? It will be Brian yes, but the AVCR is so much better at controlling the boost than the stock setup. And he may as well do it while he's at Andy's. All IMHO of course. []
STi_Bandit Posted August 9, 2006 Author Posted August 9, 2006 Aww, tis all getting complicated now, Would i be better going for a 2.5" exhaust like the TSL thundercat. Then brining the system much more inline with the ppp which is a very similar set up. Martin
st3ph3n Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I'd go to Meercat, or buy Peter's off him. Although it doesn't have the CAT you're looking for.
Gumball Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 dont get a 2.5 as you will only regret not getting the 3. 3" meercat or even hayward and scoot although having rolled with hayward for a while i find that meercat is euqally as good if not better. The fuel pressure regluator is a good idea as well as dave said. U can go to andys and he says "where is the fpr?" search on ebay for the fuel pressure regulator. i had an FSE rather than a SARDS model and it was fine at half the price.
dipsy Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 Send Andy f a email tell him what you won't to do to the car and he will tell you what parts you need and what works the best
jimmyGforce Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 I went for the stage one mods not too long ago. same kinda lines as you. 3" aps full exhaust. decat. APS CAI kit. fuel pump. plugs upgraded as Andy F advised. NGK 7bs is it? instead of 6bs. I think! [:$] memories not good when just out of bed. After ecutek remap boot set at 1.4 bar. Oh with FMIC too though. Andy F advises that i wouldnt need a boost controller
drb5 Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 U can go to andys and he says "where is the fpr?" LMAO! [] I can so picture Andy saying that, with that blunt straight to the point, "Your an idiot" look on his face!
colin_ross Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 with that blunt straight to the point, "Your an idiot" look on his face! Thats the only face he got isn't it? Well, its the only one I get to see.
RS Grant Posted August 9, 2006 Posted August 9, 2006 From the research I did when buying my FPR, I went for a SARD rather than an FSE, have known a few to fail/have probs... my other option was an SX Regulator. Cheers, Grant
fai17 Posted August 10, 2006 Posted August 10, 2006 Buy my Meercat exhaust....£400 fitted[] Spoke to P.Marks while he was mapping and i asked him why my car didn't get a Sard FPR fitted? He said"The newage simply doesn't need it" So my theory is different mappers have different thoughts of things. So whether if it's money saved or bad idea!! 1.Walbro £80 Flat4online 2.Go to Hypertec 3.Buy my Meercat...it's a bargain.
