STi_Bandit Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Ive Been posting a few threads on what mod i plan next however after looking at the tyres today i need new boots on the car all round []. so ive a few options on what i can do and what tyres to go for Option 1 Buy New 18" wheels with either Toyo T1-R or T1-S. and sell the STi Wheels on here. Option 2 New Goodyear F1's All round New Toyo T1-R's All round New Toyo T1-S's Allround Iam looking for a tyre that is both good in the wet and dry Martin
st3ph3n Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 T1-R replaces the T1-S so I'd tend to get the Rs. I'm in the market for a new set myself very soon and it'll be the T1-R that I'll be getting.
fai17 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Toyo T1R all the way but i am discovering my Goodyear F1 are really good.[Y]
gogsie Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 F1's for me, good tyres, never used the Toyo's but heard there OK
JohnSt Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 T1-Rs for me, Jim Dickson in Cumbernauld is the place to buy and fit them.... ---john---
drb5 Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Doubt i'll be going for Toyo's again. First new set had very high and low areas and this second set are better, but still not completely true. First set were T1-S's, second T1-R's.
ally-b Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I'm sad that T1-S seem to be getting phased out - I found they are just perfect on classics ,wet or dry they are very predictable .Try Camskills for good deals http://www.camskill.co.uk/offers.php?cat=4 I also like Goodyear F1s - they perform as well as the T1-S , but I found they were noisier . I'm fitting another set of wheels next weekend which have T1-Rs fitted and I am interested to see how they'll compare .But by all reports I've heard , they are excellent . Al.
STi_Bandit Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 I was looking at www.mytyres.co.uk for tyres, heard they are pretty good, then just need to find a place in edinburgh to fit them, However if i can get someone intrested in my STi Wheels id probally go down the route of new wheels Martin
jcscoob Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I am using the toyos just now but had yokohamas the last time and the yokohamas are MUCH better, when its time for a tyre change for me again i will DEFFO be getting yokohamas ! So toyos are OK But yokohamas are GREAT Eagle F1's sound good by other reports
jcscoob Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 which Yoko's are you using - parada spec 2 ? Im not [] but i was on A539's [] but it will be the pradas the next time ! []
dynamix Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 i fancy them next too - get good marks in the surveys in both dry and wet but dont know too many people that have them on their scoobs.
wilky Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Parada are a "softer" compound. great grip in the dry, surprisingly good in the wet, but wear very quickly. O/T John the figures Andy posted on 22 about your car were fantastic. What rims do you have with 235's, and do you use spacers? Callum
STi_Bandit Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 If i was to go for the 18" wheel n tyre package, would the speedo need to be re calibrated ? Martin

Callum couldn't of said it better... been on 3 trackdays at knockers and they are lasting surprisingly well
dynamix Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 how would you compare them with the RE070's that I have fitted as standard? (driving is mainly normal spirited driving, with occasional mad bit (where safe and appropriate), some track days and ring trip.) RE070's were awesome at Snetterton and are great on dry and warm roads and okay in the wet but follow cambers a bit even after having geometry set up done.
FastScooby Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 how would you compare them with the RE070's that I have fitted as standard? can't comment on the re070's, i have always had kwik-fit specials on my other cars.. Champiro GT50... they were good in the dry but a tiny bit of water and they are like the titanic trying to avoid an iceberg [:S]
gus the bus Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 Anything other than RE040's coz they are pure gash! Was planning on the F1's after good reports on here but open to suggestions too. However, If your willing to travel a wee bit I would try Swift Tyres (Extreme Motorsport) in Whitburn or Auchinlea (SP) tyres near Newhouse on ( well just off[]) the M8. I got really good prices (fitted) from them for Toyos (R's) and Goodyear (F1's). Cheaper overall than My Tyres and others if you take into account delivery and fitting. Gus []
dynamix Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 would be very interested in this - 225/45/17 x 4 please mate - can pm prices
p1ggm Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 2 mates had toyos on, and both didnt rate them at all, one swutched to f1s within 2 months and the other is just away to replace them i have always run f1s, good vaule considering the miles i get out them and good grip in all weather conditions
dynamix Posted April 9, 2006 Posted April 9, 2006 would be very interested in this - 225/45/17 x 4 please mate - can pm prices hmm - been looking at sizes on the paradas and they dont do them in that size - might have to rethink or get diff rims
