NightOwl Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Bit of a selfish thread this. Apologies for being totally non Scoob related. I got sacked a couple of weeks ago after my lorry tipped over into a field. The police put it down to the gusty winds that night, but my employers decided it was serious negligence, despite having a clean driving and employment record and no proof at all that I had a 'lapse of concentration' as they put it. Anyway, my appeal is tomorrow at 1pm and I'm starting to get a tad nervous! I've spent all afternoon going over everything with my solicitor who says they've done loads of things wrong...procedure, evidence etc. It's just the horrible thought that if it doesn't go my way...well, it'll be difficult getting a job a fortnight before Christmas, and I don't want to spend the festive period thinking about selling the car, house etc. Thankfully the bairn's pressies are sorted out which was my main concern. Anyway, as Monday afternoon approaches, I thought I'd get my new Scooby pals to wish me luck! I'll be back on the computer after all the crying/partying (delete as appropriate!) is over. Cheers.
vicki Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 I'm sure everything will be fine. Good luck, be thinkin of you

chris_c201 Posted December 12, 2005 Posted December 12, 2005 Good Luck mate, employment procedures are so stringent and sacking someone is a seriously risky business if you don't follow every protocol to the letter. By the sounds of it there is no way they have, Hope it goes / went your way!! Chris
NightOwl Posted December 13, 2005 Author Posted December 13, 2005 Thanks for all the good luck wishes. Unfortunately, they weren't enough The ba*****s agreed that they had followed procedures wrongly, but still upheld the decision to dismiss me. I couldn't believe it. I had it in black and white from the dti web-site stating that these procedures must be followed or a tribunal would regard it as automatic unfair dismissal. Swines kept me waiting an hour as well when they adjourned. So, my solicitor is going to talk to the tribunal expert in her firm, to see what happens next. Trouble is, this could take months and it don't come for free either. So, for now, I'll ponder my immediate future. I think the car may have to go. I'll have a word with Russ at Eden and see how well he gets on with the finance company. Whisky time now!! Thanks again folks.
