Carl Davey Posted October 12, 2005 Posted October 12, 2005 Further to my quest to make quality machined parts available to the masses i can now supply insulating inlet manifold spacers. These are CNC'd from Tufnol Carp to exact gasket dimensions including locating dowels. 10.2mm thick. £60 a pair. Keep your Scooby cooler this winter.
Kenny.S Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Look very nice mate, who did you get to machine them for you? I'd be interested in a set when i go for the next phase of mods, 18g, 550's, air intake through the inner wing, front mount...... and a few other bits and bobs Kenny
Carl Davey Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 If i told you i'd have to kill you Kenny. I now have access to some excellent equipment so expect more over-engineered parts coming soon. Let me know when i can help.
rossyboy1 Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 I dont suppose you could make up some header gaskets Carl? I bought my HKS ones second hand and didn't get any gaskets with them No idea what the original ones will look like having been there for 12 years. Will probably need some for the up-pipe aswell
alistair_learmonth Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 What is tufnol carp, I have used tufnol in sheet form on CNC to make jigs. I take it you sanded the gasket from sheet due to vacumning.
imprezapete Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 Carl whats the point of these? Sorry dont mean to be rude but I'm a bit lost as to why you would want to use these over standard gaskets? Cheers Pete
WUZ Posted October 13, 2005 Posted October 13, 2005 They reduce the transmission of heat from the hot engine block into the Inlet Manifold, thereby lowering your charge temps a little as well. Also raised the old MY93-96 Inlet Manifold to allow F/E Turbo fitting and air pipe like the MY97- cars. 2 jobs for the price of one! Russell
Carl Davey Posted October 13, 2005 Author Posted October 13, 2005 Ross, you should be able to get most of your gaskets from Subaru. Certainly the heads-manifold and uppipe-turbo ones anyway. The HKS manifold-uppipe gasket may be more tricky depending on how HKS designed the flange. The best thing to do is to draw the flange (to scale) and take it with you to Subaru when you buy the rest of the gaskets - see if you can get a match. Just to pick you up on a point there Pete they aren't gaskets, they're spacers. You need an OE gasket either side of these for them to seal properly.
Kenny.S Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 "I now have access to some excellent equipment so expect more over-engineered parts coming soon. " Thats the kind of stuff i like nowt wrong with over engineering things in my opinion, usually the way i end up making everything not always intentionally just sort of happens I made my resonator by-pass pipe from a 6 1/2" piece of soild aluminium, just happened to be the only stock i could get my hands on that was big enough, also have access to some nice equipment etc Kenny
drb5 Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Kenny Are you friendly with the guys in Need For Speed? I was in once, a while ago and they were talking about someone with a near identical car, to my own. Wondered if it was yourself...
