jasonb Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 just an idea, but does anyone think it would be a good idea to organise a rolling road day at somewere like star performance, if there is about 10 or more cars you can sometimes get your car on the rollers for about £30, but would need to phone and check!!! anyone interested??????
fraser_drinkwater Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Intrests me ma man if it can be done for much cheapness, and i know a few others are as well. YOU KNOW who you are!!!!
coulty Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Make the RR at dastek and i am sure a lot of people would be interested. There was one there not that long ago but i'm sure people would have things done already to warrant another run. Stuart
zeolite Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Spooks organised one in March link There was an Aberdeen one recently
sma01 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 i'd be up for this mate....asked the question of Jim Curly @ star if he would be interested in this, but he's been doing these type of group rolling road sessions for about 10 years and wasnt very keen to take it on(think it was down to the fact that some of his employees didnt want to come in on a sunday) Scott
Gumball Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 i would say that going to dasteck might be better. i think it was fairly cheap the last couple of times and very accrurate. I would be up for that as i have a few issues to clarify ................................
colin_ross Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I think that when comparing r/r results most people like to have them done on the same rollers. I.e. if someone's have had some mods done and wants to see what if any improvement it has made then it's best to use the same place for the before and after. I would imagine you might find people who have used Star before more keen to return than the guys who have used others (dastek etc).
WRC No 1 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 i am defo up for that as long i can have time to get my new timing belt done and oil leak fixed and a few other bits and bobs done
wilky Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 either or, dastek are repuded to be the more accurate, Star are usually 10hp kinder, whether its the different roller set up I dont really know. To be perfectly honest I dont mind where we go, IMHO both are okay. Callum W
fai17 Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 i am up for it . need to know day and time bofore hand as my work takes up most of my time . all work & no play you's know what i mean. sh_t isn't it
simon_gibson Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 Sounds good jason would be interested in either star performance or dastek, must say i was at dastek in march and would reconmend them it was a good day and my car should be done soon...
~ ~ Cal ~~ Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I'd be up for this if the date / time was right Would prefer dastek
jcscoob Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 yea dastek sounds good jason the boy in star is meant to be a to$$er (so iv heard )
RS Grant Posted April 24, 2005 Posted April 24, 2005 I would really like to know what sort of power the Wagon is putting out before it moves onto a new owner. Interested, but would need to be reasonably soon. Cheers, Grant
Carl Davey Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 How's about you feckers come up to the Dastek rollers up here for a change instead of me driving down south? Star or either of the Dastek RR's are fine for me. Jim (in my opinion) is not a tosser. Make it July and i'll have had a chance to (potentially) make a few more tweaks. Otherwise i'm far to busy to do anything with the car and make it worthwhile running.
wrxmania Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 Yeah, Jim has been very good with the SIDC boys in the past. The rolling road days organised by TeknoPete were at Star as us veterans will remember Brian
andrew_lally Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I would be interested in a wee rr session too....anybody sorted out a package deal yet??????
wrxmania Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 One is due to be organised soon at Dastek by Spooks, Edinburgh/Lothians R.O. and his good lady Rose (complete with refreshments and other perks under the SIDC banner). I would give him a chance until he gets back from the states (shortly). That saves wasted effort when someone else has already done some leg work, under the club auspices. Brian
fraser_drinkwater Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 take either dont make excuses about rollers if your motta is slow then so be it lol.
sma01 Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 disagree with comment re: Jim @ star, he is definitely not a t*sser, i found him very helpful, and would recommend them..their rollers are meant to be very accurate....
higgy Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 wats with the slaging match again everyone has there own opinion and can we leave it at that !!!! iI have had Very good service from Jim and co. and im sure that there are others than have not . Lets just give it a rest...... higgy

wrxmania Posted April 25, 2005 Posted April 25, 2005 I've copied this again in case you didn't see it - may save you some trouble: "One is due to be organised soon at Dastek by Spooks, Edinburgh/Lothians R.O. and his good lady Rose (complete with refreshments and other perks under the SIDC banner).
