ally-b Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Am I too late to book up ? I've just got my membership no through ... Does it cost to park and spectate ? if I'm too late to book up ? Al.
ally-b Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 I just booked my place . . . only 2 left ! I'm a Track-day Virgin , can anyone give my any advice/tips/support on my first-time
gordon_kerr Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Does this include the insurance or should we arrange this ourselves?
jamie_wood Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 ally-b, there is no charge for spectators on these days Bring as many folk as you like, and give them a good day out Jambo, insurance isn't included in the price. You would need to look into this yourself. Personaly I have never had the cover and never needed it (touch wood!!) and to be fair the standard of driving is normaly very good on SIDC days. There has been debate over this on several occasions. Your own insurance wont cover you for Racing or track days but this is termed as an Advanced driving day because you are not driving for positions or points. So technicaly you can be covered by your insurance. I know that there has been a case such as this and the driver successfully won the claim. Dont know if anyone else has any more details on this.???
st3ph3n Posted January 29, 2005 Posted January 29, 2005 Out of interest, any idea how much insurance is for a trackday afternoon?
johns Posted January 30, 2005 Author Posted January 30, 2005 Insurance depends on how much your car is worth, and how much excess you want to pay if you have a claim. Best to speak to Competition Car Insurance on 0115 941 5255 for a quote. I'd guess you are looking at £100+ to insurance your car for use on track. Is Jamie has said, in all the 30+ events we've ran there in the past 6 years, we've only twice had a car go off and actually be damaged. The standard of driving is normally excellent, there's no racing involved, and most people drive up to the limits of themselves/their car and not beyond. John
viperliz Posted January 31, 2005 Posted January 31, 2005 John, so how many places were available in total? Got my non member place but just trying to judge how busy it will be. Cheers Gareth (praying for dry track faction)
johns Posted January 31, 2005 Author Posted January 31, 2005 We had 40 places available to buy via the on-line club shop which is what we normally do. There's a few regulars who always like to pay by cheque, so I keep aside a few places for them, and there was a few people using a credit from a previous event last year, which will bring the total up to about 50 cars. Not as many as some track days, but enough to keep it interesting, but hopefully no queuing to get on track and plenty of space for people to enjoy themselves without feeling cramped. John
Iaing Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 My place should be up for grabs soonish as I've had to cancel. I stupidly double booked myself as at the time of the track day I'll be sat in cattle class on a plane back from italy. DOh! Iain
johns Posted February 1, 2005 Author Posted February 1, 2005 Russs, yes indeed we have a reserve list, which currently has 6 names on it and growing by the day! IainG's slot will go to the first member currently on the reserve list. Cheers John
IanJ Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 B*ll*cks! Missed booking up for this. Can you add me to the reserves please John. Thanks, Ian
johns Posted February 1, 2005 Author Posted February 1, 2005 Ian, can you send me an e-mail please to request a slot on the reserve list. It's easier for me to keep track that way and get in touch with you if need be. Cheers John
fraser_drinkwater Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 Remember if you can't get on the track you can still go for the banter and maybe get a lift!
dougster Posted February 2, 2005 Posted February 2, 2005 As long as you got the correct jacket on!!!! All parts now aquired. Could the wagon make it to KH...........................................?? Fingers x.
derek_robertson Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 Would be nice to see the SIDC Marquee up at this event, any chance of getting it?????? Del
dougster Posted February 6, 2005 Posted February 6, 2005 If we get the banner down from Aberdeen we could use the KH facilities for other SIDC business. Most people will be in the cafe area at some point.
andrew_duff Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Is there only track action at these events,or is anything else planned ?
zeolite Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Seems there will be some Italian exotica there.
dougster Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Track action only. I may turn up early and take my kite up the hill!!!!
DOPEY Posted February 7, 2005 Posted February 7, 2005 Think they would let me out on the track with my car after it was finished. Maybe not, would run out of gas at the first corner.
