Turbo?

What did you think i was going to ask lol.

Over the years i have always enjoyed seeing peoples build threads and turbos seemed to get bigger and bigger and bigger. So now it is time to see who really has the biggest.

Let us see pics of your turbos to see who really has the biggest

on the subject of turbos , i have a tdo5, whats is my next upgrade option? as its the ra its a snorkel turbo and dont want to fit a front inlet one for two reasons, 1, i dont want o lose the ra manifold as it has the fifth injector and dont think there is room for inlet to go under it and ,2, i personally think the snorkel one works and spins better as the air is curved thru not having to change direction like the front entry that the air sudenly has to turn almost 90 degress to exit

fifth inj in mine spurts extra in. gives it extra punch . the only reason i know this is had a leak on the feed pipe and disconected it for a while and definatly down on power untill i got fixed

Going front entry is your best option, it does work better for air direction travel getting rid of the 90deg bend. I can't think of any better turbos that are a straight swap for you.

If you do go front entry you'll need a spacer to lift the manifold and also fit the later power steering set up, to get the new intake pipe under the early manifold.

Incidently on a standard ra, the 5th injector isn't set up to work. It was fitted purely for rallying homologation rules, as the rally car did use it. I've no doubt some of the latest ECU's could utilise it, but as standard it's not used.

mmmm intresting. unless it has been tinkerd with as definatly runs fuel . i do know there is a differnt ecu in mine but not one that wallace could map. will have to have a closer look me think . cheers folks. on the turbo front might leave it for a while then and maybe go for a vf 35 as bryan d is running that in his and with simmular mods to mine he is pusshing 340 brake

What spec you running just now?, you might not be too far away from that mark with a few tweeks.

so far.... fmic. tdo5 ( tho not sure if its a 16 or 20 g ), walbro255, 3in stainless decat full system with 4 branch stainless headers and itg induction kit and 0.8 bar boost. tho thinking of some sort of decent remappable ecu next

would like to get to around the 350 mark . last run at wallace was 300 as it is now but was running lean and since put in the walbro. i know a re mapp would do it the world of good but cant justify 400 odd quid at the mo, even more so now im in the middle of fixing the gearbox. if it is a 16 then is the 20 better?

Bigger, yes. Better - depends on your driving style.

The 20g will be slower to spool but will hit harder for longer compared to the 16g.

The 16g should make between 330 and 350 with larger injectors and after market FPR to run more fuel and at higher pressure though you would need to up boost to over 1bar to make this. But to do this you need to remap. I think that that the only limiting factor from there is your MAF.

I'm no mapper or expert of any kind but this is what I've learnt from my time on the forums.
