This is our tame racing driver....Damon Hill? The ironic thing is who is going to buy Ben Collins' book anyway? Well done mate, a page on Hamsters crash, another on the top gear shenanigans, then what?

I read that before!

Thing is, if they just let it go, nobody would know anything more about it and would still be at a loss as to who the stig is. By going to court, its now all over the press, everyone knows who he is and it'll probably help sell more copies of his book!

At the end of the day, anybody who is really interested has known for years and it hasn't really spoiled my enjoyment of the programme! :D

Strange.. there was a report on the news on saturday sayign that the stig had been axed from top gear and gave out his name.. Yet further reports said at hte start of hte week about BBC taking the publishers to a private court to stop the release of hte identidy.. Well Duh!!

Not to mention it's been known for a while now it was Ben Collins... Just perhaps not 100% confirmed..

Anyway.. what colour do you think the next stig will be? Pink with boobies? :D

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that it was Ben Collins anyway. Wikipedia has said it's him for at least a couple of years I think.

Colour me completely unphased. Next you'll be telling me Darth Vader wasn't real......

Damn, I always thought that the Stig would have been unmasked by Scooby Doo, Shaggy and the gang in a one off animated adventure.

Anyhoo, is it not just an attempt by a mediocre, non-speaking celebrity to cash in on the notoriety of a brand, (Stig) created by the tax-payers money. Wouldn't get Clarkson doing that sort of thing. Oops ... too late. Good PR on the media too. Well done to the BBC for advertising the book on the 6 o'clock news. And the 9 o'clock news. Almost top trumped Blairs book.

Theres a question: who is going to unmask David Cameron and Nick Clegg?

Like others said - anyone who wanted to know knew anyway.

I'm looking forward to another incident in the near future. Something similar to the Aircraft carrier accient that Black Stig had a few years ago. All good clean fun. :D

Ben could drive a car well enough to put a good few F1 drivers to shame so his replacement has to be up to same grade

DC aint doing much these days so gets my vote even if it is for Pink Stig with Boobies

DC woudl be a good one.. Although woudln't they need a quare shaped helmet (sorry DC :D )

I thought the origonal may have been Jonathan Palmer at one point.. Ok he's maybe getting on a bit but he's the same sort of level as Ben Collins, has his own racing driving school and stuff.. Actually what's DHill up to these days..
