wrx kenny Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 just got my renewal through , my annual premium has gone up nearly £ 300 from last year robbing barstewards with nothing having changed on my policy . been getting quotes all night , cheapest im getting to renew is £ 648 , how that can be justified is beyond me , considering last year it was only £ 530 robbing kants . will try keith michaels in morning kenny
mk1cos Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 a- plan is who i used on my scooby, and also on the navara pick-up. cheapest by a mile
bobbyc Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 (edited) Kenny I got more or less the same quote from both A-plan & Keith Michaels £500 & £350 excess for the GB but then that's old git rates I suppose Forgot to mention that's with all mod's declared, in standard form it was £320 Edited January 18, 2010 by bobbyc
StrikE Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Try privilege m8 that's who i use, for me by far the cheapest. i tried A plan & keith michaels but were extortionate! What i usually do is find someone close that you don't like in the street and put their details into places like money supermarket dot com but with your D O B and see what quotes you get, that way you will avoid the 4 sacks of junk mail they send you out next year on renewal date:), once you are quoted just phone the insurance company up direct, haggle the crap outa them & you are quids in.
wrxmania Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Lol - My name is usually "jdfkjhdfjkhadlk lkjdhfljkhdflkjd" etc as I just go as fast as possible with a rough postcode up the road somewhere! Works fine. I have used Elephant & Admiral on all sorts of cars over the years (same as Privilege - usually more expensive) and also Keith Michaels on the STI 1 (with all mods covered). All excellent. Brian.
jamesm Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Just changed mine to Admiral, moving away from Keith Michaels. KM wanted £620 to renew with a £350 excess. With Admiral, I am now only £480 with a £250 excess.
zeolite Posted January 18, 2010 Posted January 18, 2010 Just got £340 for the GB. Being old does have some benefits.
bob wrx Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 been with KM for about 5 years but A plan was better this year about £300 cheaper and the excess was £100 now only £430 for the year on my type r not bad for being 27!
Jon B Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 try 1st central mate you'll find them in google......... they are insuring my scoob £390.....
micra_wrc Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Do places like Elephant, Admiral and Privilege insure imports?
C_WRX Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I think quite a few of us will see increases next time round. Was reading mainly down to the continued increase in personal injury claims - and quite sure the weather will be added to that list for recent number of bumps. There are supposed to still deals out there so make sure shop around from the list everyones passing on. I renewed in August with only a £25 increase, Keith Michaels and ask for Gary Moulson (02082880275) which can make a difference.

lewisscoob Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 micra_wrc said: Do places like Elephant, Admiral and Privilege insure imports? Elephant definitley did (back in late 2008) as my type ra was insured through them. They were excellent too, never had a single problem with them. Even when it got written off.

jebus82 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 am £850 for my gb270!!! thats with 6 years no claims although i aint over 30 so a probably get penalised for that
sti_steve Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Alot of insurance quotes are to do with postcode.
davey l wrx Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 I'd been with Admiral for about 7 years till last summer. The premium for the WRX went from £500 to over £1100 the reason they said was because i had picked up 3 points on my licence. A quick hit on compare the market.com got me 14 quotes under £500 (i do have 9+ years of protected no-claims and am 38). Finally went with M & S for about £600. A chat with admiral got me a loyalty discount of £80 so i was still paying over £1000. They always try it on at renewal time but it usually only takes a call to sort it, occasionally they take the p*** though.... Hope ya get ot sorted for a decent price.
icedog13 Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 Interesting to hear what people are paying- I am 37, 7 years no claims, wife as named driver, I have 3 points for speeding, car kept in residential car park. 53 plate sti uk. Cheapest was £550 through Auto Direct, excess is a mandatory £650 which they let you insure for £2.50 a month in case you need to use it. The underwriters are Aviva (who don't advertise on comparison sites). I tried them direct and they wanted £1100???!!! Eh?
lewisscoob Posted January 19, 2010 Posted January 19, 2010 (edited) I just scared the bejesus out of myself by going on Amiral (who im currently with) for a quote. The robbing barstewards want £750! But to be fair, I do still have 3 points that qualify under their "in the last 5yrs" bull! I also had a claim and that was all my current mods declared. (DV, Airfilter, Wheels and suspension) And im 28 Edited January 19, 2010 by LewisScoob

ciaranrb5 Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Im insured with Keith Micheals now. Insurance has gone up about £200 a year since adding 90bhp to the RB5. Think I am paying about £620ish all mod's declared which for 26 with 5NCD isn't realy that bad is it???
