badbaz Posted May 1, 2009 Posted May 1, 2009 Seem to have seen a lot of Scoobies around the Lanark area recently. How many of you are there out here? Not sure if we should broadcast exact locations but it would be interesting just to see how many of us there are. I've been to a few Glasgow meets and it's great to see folk, the runs are great too, but it's 45mins to Hillington on a good day and it's about £20 in fuel for the return journey so not ideal if things are tight money wise and time is always tight for me! How would anyone feel about having a sort of sub meet around Lanark, maybe for those who can't make it to Glasgow or have an actual South Lanarkshire monthly meet based in or around Lanark? Hope noone thinks I'm trying to step on any toes, or steal any thunder, it's purely a suggestion. There are a lot of good roads accessible from a 'Lanark' meet(if you can avoid the pot holes) and maybe this is something others have thought of and never brought up? As I said it's only a thought, what's everyone's view local to Lanark? I'm gonna just start a list so we can see who's where and who would consider a Lanark meet: 1/ badbaz - 1/2mile from Lanark - yes to a Lanark meet
Badgerboy Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Sounds good to me! I drive all day at my work and travelling to a meet thats an hours drive away is not that apealing, so Lanark meet could be good, depending on the response 1/ badbaz 2/ TPS - SCOOB
badbaz Posted May 3, 2009 Author Posted May 3, 2009 (edited) 1/ badbaz : 1/2mile from Lanark - yes to a Lanark meet 2/ TPS -SCOOB : 12 miles - yes Woo hoo! One? Only one? There's gotta be more, surely? If gonna post, put your name on the list, can we have the approx distance to Lanark? Ideally someone with a passion for organising meetings will take this on board?? Maybe all the scoobs I see out here have never heard of SIDC? Come on everyone! TPS -SCOOB, are you new to the scene? What scoob do you have? Edited May 4, 2009 by badbaz

If this idea had come along anytime in the last year and a half I would have been up for it. Just sold it though.
boab type ra Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I think this is a great idea i have been a member for over a year and i have only made it to 1 meet because by the time i finish work i am pushed for time to get to Hillington but if it was in Lanark its 10 mins up the road. 1/ badbaz 2/ TPS - SCOOB 3/ boab type ra
GazTurboUK Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Depending on when it is i would prob pop along, 0miles from Lanark

scoobysailor Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 I've just moved away from Carnwath. There are another two from around Lanark that I know of who post on here, and my brother is in Biggar but I'll let them put their names down themselves.
StrikE Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Hey Big J and myself were thinking about a local Lanark RO last year but never got around to it tbh. We looked at the market car park for a venue but unfortunately it was a no go, after that we never brought it up again. I certainly agree with a Lanark based monthly meet and i and most suprised there isn't one already considering the location. Hillington is far too far away especially on a thursday night after a hard days graft, a bit annoying to be honest as i love meeting up too, just usualy never have time
j10 dly Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Yeah I would also be up for this, I only live about 15 - 20 minutes from lanark
evil_scoobs Posted May 3, 2009 Posted May 3, 2009 Im 21 miles from Lanark and Hillington is about 12 miles away but if there is a wee meet in Lanark I wouldnt mind taking a wee drive up and meet some of you guys
badbaz Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) Result! Some interest then and it's been thought of before! Lanark loch carpark would be a reasonable meet point, there's the restaurant/pub thing there too so toilets and a place to meet in the winter months. The car park's at the end of a residential area but as long as there's no silly noise where's the crime in meeting up there? The meet day could be polled to see what was best for everyone, we'd never please all of the people all of the time. How many others must there be? Come on keep em coming. Anyone up for organising? Add to the list if you defo up for it: 1/ badbaz : 1/2mile from Lanark 2/ TPS -SCOOB : 12 miles 3/ boab type ra : 10mins Edited May 4, 2009 by badbaz
st3ph3n Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 17 miles from me from Bothwell. Probably a bit closer than Hillington and better roads too!
badbaz Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) 1/ badbaz : 1/2mile from Lanark 2/ TPS -SCOOB : 12 miles 3/ boab type ra : 10 mins 4/ StrikE : ???? 5/ J10 DLY : 15-20mins 6/ evil_scoobs - 21 miles 7/ st3ph3n - 17 miles grrr, why's noone playing at list making? Quite a few already, what about a date? Prob best not to clash with other meet days/week so people could do both if they have the time/money. Thoughts please. . . . Edited May 4, 2009 by badbaz
StrikE Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 1/ badbaz : 1/2mile from Lanark 2/ TPS -SCOOB : 12 miles 3/ boab type ra : 10 mins 4/ StrikE : 800yrds 5/ J10 DLY : 15-20mins 6/ evil_scoobs - 21 miles 7/ st3ph3n - 17 miles 8/Big Gordon If it is possible how about a Friday/Saturday late evening night? Sat would be better
GazTurboUK Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Only night i wouldnt be able to make would be a Friday night as currently work every Friday, Sat sounds good tho
kennyuk300 Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 (edited) According to the AA route planner i'm 16.8 miles from lanark. could possibly do this 1/ badbaz : 1/2mile from Lanark 2/ TPS -SCOOB : 12 miles 3/ boab type ra : 10 mins 4/ StrikE : 800yrds 5/ J10 DLY : 15-20mins 6/ evil_scoobs - 21 miles 7/ st3ph3n - 17 miles 8/Big Gordon 9/ kennyuk300 Edited May 4, 2009 by kennyuk300

badbaz Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Ten who seem keen, can we head for a day then, Saturday looking popular but I can only do every alternate Saturday. Is everyone against a week night? Nobody's stepping up to organise the run either! Someone want to plump for a day/date and then we'll work from there?
the squiggle Posted May 4, 2009 Posted May 4, 2009 Pretty sure the Inn on the Loch would welcome you guys in the winter months and use the Loch car park as starting point for the summer months Key to getting a successful meet up and running is regularity Oh i could think of a few evening runs around that area all right Over to Wanlockhead and then back through Crawfordjohn or down to Moffat and back
badbaz Posted May 4, 2009 Author Posted May 4, 2009 Yip Grant there is plenty of routes to choose from. Maybe we'll be graced by the banana if we get it together?
