Subaru Acknoledgement Flash/wave

Following something my mate who just bought an impreza and from one of the spotted threads posted today made me wonder. Who all waves/flashes headlights at fellow Scooby drivers?

Is it just for similar models ie newage? turbo versions? any version? what you do to acknoledge a fellow owner?

I wave to any other scoobies....flash as well but sometimes get that mixed up with the wipers!!! Most of you wave or flash back....

I also wave or flash the lights and usually 98% of fellow scooby drivers wave or flash back! We should come with a SIDC slaute or something

The convention seems to be that any Impreza turbo petrol can exchange a flash/wave with any other Impreza turbo petrol, regardless of age (the car's age, that is). Must admit that I tend to have more luck with other newages than with classics, but having said that the odd classic has given us the wave. I don't wave Foresters at Tribecas and the like... I'm also not so keen on waving when the car's dirty - feel like I'm bringing shame upon the marque

Just lately it's not been working at out all, though - every time I've waved recently I've had hee-haw back and every time someone's waved at me I've noticed too late and have failed to reciprocate...

So if you've been snubbed lately by a WR blue Hawkeye around Falkirk/Stirling/Alloa, all I can say is 'sorry - ma heid wiz up ma shuck'!

I've had a few waves back, around fife in the last couple of weeks. I try to wave to all turbo imprezas

if i see them in time then i always wave to imprezas

most of them seem to wave back,

and i always have a chuckle when i see their female passenger give their bloke a slap on the arm and say "why is that girl waving at you?"

Always wave to scoobies... regardless of age/model... But of there no scoop I'll maybe wait a few metres first till I identify whether or not they are wearign an old tartan cap.. In which case I'll resist the urge to wave incase they get scared

Don't flash the lights much.. but sometimes do to fellow SIDC members.

Still wavign to Evo's on a regular basis.. about 50% return these days.. Guy in Red Evo gave me a very blank look today..

It's interesting that a few of you say that *most* Impreza drivers wave back... I get about 1 in 5 who waves back!

I must admit to being an owner that sits poised to wave back, waiting for the other Subaru owner to wave !

I found that it was mainly newage that waved back, quite a few classics were younger folk who looked at me like I had two heads !! Also much same with 5dr newages, most are unaware of what's under the bonnet (not all I know)!

My wife finds the waving thing all very funny, although she conveniently forgets she waved at other Mini drivers when she owned one of those !!

Picturing tomorrows news - "an extrodinary number of Subaru Impreza's crashed today. Witnesses at numerous crash sites said they seemed to be doing a "three amigooooos" style dance in the car just prior to it leaving the road". Not one for me I don't think !!

I get about 1 in 5 who waves back!

Waved at a few today, seemed more like 1 in 9 that wave back today. It's the blank glum faced who the f*** is that waving at me stare that cracks me up!!!

Answer to original question, i wave everytime

I find that because i drive a wagon, some seem to think its not a scooby so turn away and don't wave back...I always try to wave altho sometimes a bit late in spotting them

We need some sort of recognition(I still have my Mcrae Gathering sticker on the bonnet lol)

I try to wave if waved at, but i am usually too late, and i try to take the initiative and wave at other scoob turbo's as well but sometimes im not very good at that either......No offence meant lads n lassies, sometimes i am just a bit slow! I used to do it when i had a Corrado with other Corrado owners, but there wasn't quite as many of them on the road!

i have had my STI now for 3 days and i had my first road encounter with another scoob and i waved my arms like a nutter on acid and he didnt wave back and im 100% he saw me waving and had plenty of time to take in "there is a mad boy waving at me as if he is on acid " but no reaction at all i wis gutted!

I waved at a Rover 400 with a Scooby bonnet scoop last night. Ouch..

Nearly always do it and always to other blue blobeye STi's . Classics seem to rarely do it round Edinburgh for some reason. Wife finds it amusing too but I don't care! It's part of the fun of owning a Scooby.

I wave to all scoobies all the time. About 60 - 70% of the time i get a wave back. The odd time you will get someone looking at you as if you are a nutter but I find that quite funny sometimes.

My missus also laughs at me everytime i wave to another scoob. I always get " Why are you waving?? You don't even know them!"

I have had a few nods/waves - mostly newages to be honest - got a few non wavers so now a bit more cautious incase I look like a pie.

Like most the Mrs thinks it's madness - thinks we are all weird lol.

A mate at work also thinks it hillarious, to a point where if we are in the wee lorry together he waves a fellow Subaru (so if you see a waver in an Argos truck...........yep you guessed it!)

i used to flash at all scoobs but dont bother as i got a 1 in 100 chance of a reply!

I save my flashing (ooo err) for the Special Editions like the P1, WR1... ect as they are fellow Prodrive spawn, but I get ready to wave back at anyone who fancies waving at me. Have to say the few times I have waved I've got a "who the feck are you" look back, oh well

The missus also things I'm being silly, so I don't do it if she is there

When I'm out in the Defender they all wave at each other... unless it's a works vehicle

Always flash or wave to any scoob with a scoop (depending on the situation). Always get an acknowledgement especially around the lothians .

The missus doesn't bother though (apologies).
