As you'll know the car has been sitting in the garage for some time getting the monster engine built and so was needing a bit of a clean up. As Colin says it looked ok from 10 feet away, but he wanted it looking really good close up. I'll keep the words to a minimum as I know some of you only like the photo's, but I'll be doing a full breakdown on Scoobynet (car care) in a couple of days. He runs a spacer, i want to redo the bells but he's happy with the 3mm spacer. If you think those wheels are nice you should see his spares. Johnny

A genuinely nice guy who spent his day off washing, sorry detailing, a total stangers car. And not just any car. You've all probably seen the state it was in a couple of months ago. What this guy doesn't know about bringing an old dog back to life isn't worth knowing. Of course I've washed a car before, 4 or 5 times at least, but there was much to learn. Mike gave the paint a good inspection before we got started but it was still covered in cr@p for the 700 mile round trip to Banbury. I took my sleeve and and wiped it to give him a better idea of hat we were working with but it made a loud shrieking noise. Well, it didn't, he did. 6 hours leter I came away with half a clue and one slick looking motor. I popped the bonnet tonight and it nearly flew out of my hand it's that smooth. The one negative is it's really shown up the stone chips on the front but Mike has given me a top tip on what to do there too. After all his hard work it'd be rude not to stay on top of it so expect to see me in the show and shine section at the next event Dunc - needed spacers to clear but only 3mm so no biggie. I've got a bunch of differnt sizes if you need to try some out.

I've got a bunch of differnt sizes if you need to try some out. its ok but cheers for the offer anyhoo, i was eyeing up a set a wee while back (the ones going very cheap on scoobynet) but missed out due to a cash flow problem lol, might still pick up a set at some point though, they go well on a scoob

The spare wheels Johnny was talking about can be seen in my before pics. It's the same wheel but in uber rare magnesium, blue is the only colour they come in so you know what they are. I've never seen another set in the flesh and only a couple online.

And that looks like your nice new STi in the background there, looks cracking. Playsatan2 - total pain when the car looks as good as that and then the stone chips show up - but on the good side your car looks brilliant. Honestly not too much work to keep it looking like that. For the next month even just a wash and it'll look almost as good every time, then every few weeks top up with a wipe over of some final protection product. Edited September 13, 2008 by C_WRX
colin_ross Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Yup, that's what Mike told me. The car hasn't turned a wheel since it was done so it still looks stunning. After payday I'll be investing in some products and a pair of white gloves.
