emoe Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Thinking about getting a DV for MY01WRX but not sure what is the best to go for i have heard that XS are good but not sure any ideas anybody.Stevie On every turbo car i have owned ive stuck with Turbotechnics, they make a solid product, adjustable and high quality. you can go for a twin port, to give you both recirc and vented, a pure v-port like mine, or a trumpeted for really loud (read that as chav!) they also do a high end KOMPACT series now like their other range but smaller and more compact. Ive tried Bailey, and wouldnt touch them as they fail easily. HKS i just dont like, bit gimmiky
little vodka goblin Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Just to be awkward I've had a Bailey on mine for nearly 3 years with no problems
Double Zero Posted August 21, 2008 Author Posted August 21, 2008 Just to be awkward I've had a Bailey on mine for nearly 3 years with no problems Im after a loud one and have heard that xs are the best ? Stevie

scoobysailor Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 I've got an HKS SSDV VTA on my 01 WRX and it sounds gooood (in my opinion, of course ).
marky.t.s Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 if you hang around bus stops you get the same sound effects Stevie, without the expense of course.
scoobymark Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 HKS SSQV, the only dump valve to have on your car
scientific steve Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 Do you want a DV for performance or just to make a pshht noise? is it just me or ????? what performance????? I had the HKS SSQV too and loved it, cant remember what turbo you have on that model of car but after I fitted the 20g to my car I found out after that it could take the pressure of not having one fitted, giving you the WRC sort of sound, but that will need a remap to cope, just a thought
cork Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 (edited) i have a sard r2d2 on my my98 and it's superb. noobie here just started posting, so i thought i'd add it in as no one has mentioned it. Edited August 22, 2008 by cork

colzo Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 hi m8 go for GFB best quality you can buy got them on all 6 of our cars geo What does GFB stand for? What problems can occur with fitting a non standard DV to a standard car. I realise this whole DV thing can be open to debate but apart from the 'chav' noise thing what benefits can be had. I had a Forge one on my P1 (just for the noise to be honest ) and I felt the car to more jerky under acceleration.

Bugeye29 Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Right then where can i purchase the HKS SSQV then?Stevie a got mine from scoobyparts use to have a blitz on my ols scooby but cant beat the HKS
RS Grant Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 HKS is that wee bit different to the 'normal' whoosh sound you get... its got a kinda metallic ping running through the whoosh at the same time, I'm not mad for Dumpvalves but have had a few over the years, and the only one I liked the sound of was the HKS. Cheers, Grant
BJM Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 I've got a GFB. Had it on my 06 wrx and now my 08sti. No problems hare.
Joe G Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Ive got a blitz on mine. But the turbosmart supersonic i had on the last one was pretty loud

RA Dunk Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Forge on mine, no complaints with the noise, just loud enough to know its there
WUZ Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 Another vote for the Tial 50mm BOV from me. Russell
Double Zero Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 Another vote for the Tial 50mm BOV from me.Russell Well i opted for a Blitz getting it from Dunc at Hypertech this afternoon. Stevie
craigdmcd Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 I've bought a GFB unit for my GT-B. Still to be fitted as the engine is going back in soon - but it looks superbly made and is the unit that is electrically adjustable from iinside the car, so it can be as loud or as quite as you want.
