106rallye Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Im not a man for many word, but truly truly shocked about this. Colin is a true legend! I was never interested in cars until I watched him flying through the forests in the old subaru WRC, since that day Ive been hooked! Ive followed his career for a long long time and seen him at several local events, memories which will never leave me, he will be truly missed! RIP all those that lost their lives. My thoughts are with their family's at this tragic time.
Roco Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Rest In Peace. Thoughts go out to Colins family and friends at this very sad time. Never to be forgotten, His memory will live on to the present and future generations. Lifes too short. Remember them for the good times. Roco and Partner.

wrxmania Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Colin McRae was a legend. He will continue to be one in everyones eyes. Brian.
andy Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 It's so very difficult to know what to say right now. There are no words that I, or anyone else, could say that will make things right. I only met Colin once and that was very briefly. I'm sure he was as underwhelmed at meeting me as I was overwhelmed at meeting him! I took part in the run down to Lanarkshire today and feel privileged to have done so. I emailed my Mum (who's in her sixties) with the link to the Sky News video. She phoned me straight away to say how tragic this news was. My Mum is not into cars, never has been, but that is just Colin through and through. The ultimate ambassador - he touched everybody, regardless of age, sex or interests. He typified everything that is great about Scotland. Of course this is not just about Colin and, obviously, Johnny. Whilst Colin is "high-profile", there are two other families grieving too and we cannot forget them. My sympathies also go to them.
danuleson Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Can't believe it! It almost seems unreal and impossible that such a tragedy could occur. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of all involved. A true legend has been taken from us, and will be sorely missed all over the world. One of Rallys true greats, who had no fear and gave it his all. Rest in Peace. Daniel.
scoobykev Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 A tragic day for all the families involved, my sympathies go out to them. Rest in peace. Kev.
colzo Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Colin was THE reason why I got into the whole Subaru culture and my love of rallying. Extremely sad news. To all who lost their lives may you rest in peace. To all families concerned I send my condolences. Colin

lupuss Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Very, very sad news - my thoughts are with the familys concerned at this difficult time. Like so many others, it was through Colin's exploits, together with Richard Burns in the Subaru Rally Team that I became interested in Rallying, and dreamed of one day owning an Impreza of my own, 'played' at being a rally driver through his video games, and finally bought my own Impreza a year ago... Such a sad loss of life, of someone with so much life... My condolences to his family and friends... James.
wax_wrx Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 A truely great man and and inspiration in his sport to young and old. he will truely be missed by all and his talent can never be replaced REST IN PEACE
reidzer44 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 still hasn't sunk in but surely will , a sad loss for the whole family and friends who new him , was so excited about seeing him rally live for the first time in his own named event on the 29th of this month R.I.P COLIN
Andy S Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 I still cannot belive this!! he was one of the main reasons I first looked at impreza's Rest in Peace Colin and little Johnny McRae, Ben Porcelli and Graeme Duncan, A very sad day indeed Hopefully we can do something in the same vain as the Richard Burns Run and raise a lot of cash for a McRae chosen Charity
spooks Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Having never met Colin I feel slightly hypocritical in this post, but like most here I chose a Subaru because of this man, he is a legand of his field and will always be one im my and others eyes. My heart goes out to his wife Alison for not only losing Colin but her son, my heartfelt sympathies to the other familes involved also. RIP all
mrbadger Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 A man who has inspired many. I'm sure many will continue to be inspired by him. One of Valentino Rossi's childhood hero's - What more can you say? Thoughts and prayers are with the Mcrae family and for all those other families who are affected by the loss of these young lives.
road warrior Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 A sad day indeed, I never got the chance to meet him but i will always remember the first time i saw him driving that dark blue Impreza flat out, giving it his all, only the way Colin could, it made a lasting impression A fan of his ever since, and now the proud owner of a dark blue Impreza My heart goes out to his family, and the families of the others who died He will live on in our memories Rest in Peace Colin
thefastone Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 RIP Colin, Johnny, Graeme and Ben. My first memory of any rallying was hearing about Colin Mcrae, and Subaru Imprezas, and Ive been following ever since, As I know that so many others have, very few people can lay claim to having touched so many lives in even a small way such as Colin has. As a few people have said, Subaru, and in fact most of us on these forums would not be here driving the cars that we love, following the sport that we love, if it were not for Colin and a few others... You will be sadly Missed... See you on the flip side! Our thoughts are with the Family at the difficult time. RIP
scooby222 Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 i still cant believe this, like so many others i feel like ive lost a mate despite never meeting him. i remember skiving off school to watch him win the rac and title and knowing then that one day id have an impreza of my own. talents such as his are rare and that he used them to bring so much pleasure to so many of us is a fitting tribute. thoughts and sympathies with all the families involved, rest in happiness colin
