  1. Hi Iain, it's good to see you back old chap sorry to hear about the family issues. Fingers crossed the options you may have keeps you and your car together, it wouldn't be the same seeing you in anything different
  2. Hehe nice one
  3. Hi Michael, welcome to the SIDC, that is a very nice car you have there, the Classic Imprezas were (and still are) the best of the range Those pics of the car with the views behind are absolutely stunning, that looks like a very nice place to live As Stu says your english is very good, I'm embarrassed to say my French is appauling
  4. Yeah the car's going well, been serviced very well I might add too I've been a bit paranoid this week thinking that the engine is losing power so having been drivin home dropping down a few gears and pulling off to test its pull. It doesnt feel right for some reason, probably just me as I am used to its output. So I asked the wife to take it for spin and give it some 'welly' and get her opinion. I pointed out the oil temp meter and said dont blast off until its between 70 and 80 degress. So my lad went with her, as a chaparone and i got a call saying that on the way back the temp hadnt risen above zero? So when they got back to the house she said look its still not risen and only pointed to the non working(yet) water temp meter the oil temps were at 80 to 90 degrees, just the right temp afterall. She did say that she got it up to a good speed on the way back and said it was alright...doh! I have put in some redex fuel injector cleaner this week on a 3/4 tank so maybe its running a bit sluggish with this added to the fuel? I'll have to take her for a spin, the car that is, and burn off the last remnants of fuel/redex combination vapours on the way to Highworth, my favourite drinking hole, and fill up on the pure stuff again....paranoia is great for rapid weight loss Hmm Stu, this diesel stuff, what is it, its not in my vocabulary
  5. I spotted this in the news today about how close the moon will be on the 19th of March and thought that within the next 200 miles or so I could have driven to the moon by now I wonder if they do Vpower up there
  6. looking really good now, thats a fair bit of work done - pity about the finger, shocking news
  7. Hi Steve, many thanks for the comments and thansk for fixing the typos, i was getting tunnel vision by the time i got to the end and couldnt see thw wood for the trees I have a few more bits 'n bobs on the go at the moments, so may approach you for your opinion on their suitability for SP Cheers, Col
  8. No not me, I was coming back from work in Swindon around that time.
  9. HID lights fitted today, lovely nice blue/white light....

  10. Far be it for us to say but I think you made the right decision I couldn't think of another car that would replace my current motor, I would be constantly comparing the 'new' one to the old one. Like you my car isnt just an A to B car, infact I go out of my way to go via Z when going A to B These car are easily capable of high miles, I put mine down to the support and help I get from Cotswold Scoobies who have serviced since I bought it...
  11. Hi Norry, I have a MY98 Uk turbo wagon, it had the same rear arch and sill rust issue's and while it did cost a few quid to put right it was well worth it. My wagon is pretty much rust free and drives as good, if not better than when I bought it 5 years ago at 94000 miles. Having now more than doubled that mileage at 218000 miles it's not worth getting rid of, plenty of mileage in it yet, even after an new ecu and remap and supporting mods to up the power. As has been said, you could flog the parts, but once the interesting parts have gone, the carcass may take longer to sell, and in the meantime you have no motor? I would say keep it, if it's not broke why fix it? I want to get to 250,000 and then think about a rebuild with stronger internals, so I'm saving up for the next 18 months to 2 years to pay for that..these classics just run and run... Cheers, Col
  12. I have a sneaky feeling about that
  13. Can we all go for a spin I like a bit of rough and tumble
  14. Ah yeah but it's going to be worth it when it's done
  15. Hehe, so thats two of us with stained undergarments Great news on the lighting front, nice one, the pen is mightier than the sword.....definitely have to give them a mention in TG now then Fingers crossed it's all working by tomorrow then
  16. Aye, I have a cleaning bill to send to somebody....
  17. Sounds like someones going to be busy fitting all that, you'll have to get some pics up when its all on
  18. Uhuh
  19. No worries Stu, anytime old chap, but in fairness you did the legwork, I just confirmed what you thought was the problem
  20. The only thing we didn't have Matty was the Mk1 Wet Finger needed to touch the ends of the plug that went into the bulb, at 23Kv I wasnt willing to try it, Stu wasn't up for it either Saying that i nearly kacked my undercrackers when I had a fluke measuring the loom for 12v from the lights ans Stu 'accidentally' hit the horn, i thought I'd shorted something
  21. I'm sure with the right words with the supplier and a mention of a pending review for a large car forum with a lot of readers, the replacement will be back very shortly i don't think there was much else we could try, nothing other than the bulb going would explain the symptoms?
  22. Finally installed the pillar pod and gauges today, piccies aint the best but the light was failing.. Daytime lights on the gauges.. Nightime lights, less distracting.. The bottom right pod is a different manufacturer so only goes light and dim, the rest default to red and I use a push button switch on the centre gauge pod to temporarily apply +12v to each gauge and it switches in the white background light. The final pieces are to install the water temp sensor in the top cooling pipe and install the exhaust temp sensor in the exhaust manifold branch....
  23. Just signed
  24. Hi Steve, I'd be up for that, my HID's are going in a Classic and Stu's in a Newage so that should cover the install for the majority of cars, I would think. I started taking snaps of the gear you get but they turned out poor so I'll take some more tonight and put down some words to the photos. I have found places to put al the kit in the engine bay, so that in theory wont take long to put it, the time spent is in documenting it Cheers, Col
  25. I'm sure it will be fine Stu, if you've taken this many precautions wrt water ingress it should all be good. There's nothing wrong with being anal either with the possibility of 20kv being present and something shorting, not to mention to money spent on these lil' babies it's to be expected, I'd be worried if you werent so cautious I plan to water proof the oem loom ends too, but rather than having the lights switchable for MOT time, I'll take the easy route and swap the bulbs Might take you up on the offer of the light check matey Now my turn for being anal, I checked the MOT testers manuals site for anything about the ammount of light emitted that may constitute a fail, nothing
