Deffo, the red wheels all the way
-
Iain I don't know if you remember, but a while back you popped round for a set of wheels/tyres I had and I showed you a stainless steel air filter shroud I had. If you are still after one I have it in the garage propping up some computers 'n things as I have now made my own shroud. Cheers, Col.

Anytime mate, it's all for a very worthy cause

Hi Iain, I can pop round with a wee crate after 6pm tonight, on the you home, if your in.

I thought it was an all day affair which is why I have been putting it off for such a long time. If I can get it done that would be fab as then I can start too look at getting some manifold spacers put in place and replace the turbo intake pipe as well. My oem down pipe has almost rusted through at the lower flange and I was going to wait until it finally broke and replace it with a free flow pipe and center section but that would mean having ecu work done right away to stop it effecting the engine. After having a bit of a thought (quite a few months), I'll need this down pipe as a spare for MOT days so its going to have to come off as soon as poss and put safely to one side and I'll need to get me some pipes before my visit to Bob and get the mapping down with nearly all the kit i want in place. Time to start shopping around for some pipes methinks

Ah cool many thanks Iain, I wasn't too sure what you had on, with your work and home life and trips to foreign parts how long would you think it would take to get the bumper off, cut, fmic on and bumper cut to fit? Cheers, Col

Hi Myles, I got my repair kit from CD24-7 based in the UK. The kit came with a repair guide with all the bits as you have now but I also went for a set of Whisper Fans as the oem ones where older and helluva noisy. The Xbox is still going fine since the fix in Nov 2008, fans are nice and quiet too - happy days

Hi guys, i have a date with Bob Rawle at the end of April for a Simtek ecu update/install would really love to get my front mount onto the car. I've found a good How-To on scoobynet and it looks pretty straightforward, apart from the cutting of the bumper - which scare the willies out of me. Has anyone got a bit of spare time to help get the fmic bolted in place, I can finish off the plumbing, its the first bloody hard bit I'm kind of stuck with. Cheers in advance, Col.

Welcome back Iain.

No worries Ryan, let me know how you get on

We had a RROD on our 360 a lil while ago and so sent off for a mod that replaced the two internal fans for quieter ones and also replaced the fastener that held on the cpu heatsink. The original heatsink was clipped in whereas the new one replaced the clips for screws which, along with new heatsink compound, made a better heatsink connection and aided the heat transfer away from the cpu. I'll drop you a wee linky when i find the info on it if your going to try and mend it first, if you want it. Cheers, Col

Hi Ryan, I have this piccy (for a MY97-98) that shows the connections from the stalk to the lights and looking at it there isn't much in the way of cabling between the two. The RH rear light runs from connector R26 and then onto R2/B98 and then into the loom back to the stalk on B71, the Hazard switch second connector B38/i3 and and indicator module on B32. From B38/i3 the connection goes back to the hazard switch i22. When the hazards are off fuse FB-20 feeds into the hazard switch i22/Pin7 and then out from i22/Pin8 to i3/B38/Pin12 to the signal/hazard module B32/Pin1 and then back out on Pin3 to the stalk B71/Pin7. If all the other indicators work chances are that the issue may be after this point as all lights are driven from this common point and its possibly a bad connection on connector B98/Pin5, B98/Pin12 feeds the left hand side light. When the hazards are on, a second fuse feeds into the hazard switch on i22/pin3 and turns on all the left and right hand lights at the same time. I hope this is of some help

Lovely looking car there Ciaran, I always wanted a saloon but having too much fun with mine to change it.

Hello mate, no not had time to put them on yet, been too busy working and working on a whole pile of other mods. Waiting for some decent weather and then dabble in the black art of spraying, perhaps a shade of blue....I have a blue theme going on. I'll send you a piccy when I get them on

There's a lot of real nice classics on this thread, this is my wee motor, the grainy picture hides the dirt
-
Thanks Stu, hmm perhaps I'll get a centre box with a small silencer section, but then I might lose some of the burble - oh bugger what a decision to have to make I was round at Iain's a lil' while ago and he fired up the 'beast', it made a lovely sound, way louder than mine

Hello peeps, i have one of these on the rear of the car ( Afterburner Vortex ) and want to put on a matching set of Decatted Down Pipe and Centre Section The backbox makes a nice rumble now at speeds over 60, does anyone have either of these pipes attached to their cars and if so how is the cabin noise, I'm sure I've been partially deafened by the car so far and wondered how much more my poor wee ears are going to suffer. I know the back box I have has a bung that can be used to reduce the noise, but that must take some of the fun away I can't remember If Iain said his system was made from a similar set-up but due to copious amounts of the dark stuff, my memory has faded a tad Cheers, Colin

I tell you what did fail today, was the lights kind of. I hit a pheasant at 50 mph this morning going into Lechlade, man them birds can fly fast Bloody thing cracked the left indicator cover, just waiting now for the rain to fill it up and put some fish in there It also knocked the bulb so that it lost contact, so every time I indicated left the left hand side indicators were on steroids. I'll check the block tomorrow, they have a rubber cover on them which I guess will heat up, stink a lot and then melt everywhere. I popped into halfrauds today to check the bulbs, they dont seem to these halogen ultra blue bulbs anymore, I saw the Xenon ones at 90% extra light but i wonder what the light difference will be going to a paltry 60W bulb, at £25 a go its an expensive experiment
-
Is that what you could call 'daylight' bulbs I checked the cables this morning, seemed ok, but that was after a blast down the motorway with the car being cooled by the freezing temps.
-
Yeah that had crossed my mind, the extra current drawn by the higher bulbs are an issue and even more so when running high beams at night too. Hopefully the fuses for the headlights would kick in, fingers crossed. I'd like to think Subaru designed their looms with a bit of extra capacity. I'll run on full lights tomorrow and check the loom for any excessive heating
-
No worries, what did you go for in the end??
-
Hello matey, have a wee look at this link, damn handy Bulb Finder Tool Cheers, Col
-
Yikes, the whole front off just to get to the side lights
-
This daytime shot show the comparative brightness between the sides and the main lamps, which I think look ok, I found the original box that the main bulbs came in, apparently they were Halfrauds #472UB which according to description says 12v 100/80W Ultra Blue and some blurb about off road use or something.... Well now that I have tried them off main road I'll guess the 60W bulbs will be going back in...

Ok no laughing at my camera skillz, this is a rather blurry night time pic done on the Iphone, which doesn't appear to like taking shots at night.. The right side is the stock lighting, the left is the new one, its best looked at with squinted eyes
