  1. Even for someone with 10 thumbs like me I think my front discs are 277mm/vented, I don't s'pose you happen to know off the top of your head the size required to match the 4pots. My current grooved discs are due for replacement at the mo' and I think have warped, so nows the time to source a new pair. Cheers, Col.
  2. Hi Guys, I'm after a bit of advice on 4pot calipers to replace my 2 pots on my MY98. I have seen quite a few for sale on flea bay and other breakers' sites but they have apparently come from STI's/JDM WRX's from the same year as mine or other newer classic shape scoobs. My question is will these calipers fit as a direct replacement on my UK Turbo wagon. I've seen a few which would need some TLC which for the price makes them affordable and dont mind doing the work to get them back to a decent spec but I dont know if they would fit. Any ideas? Thanks in advance, Col.
  3. Thanks matey - if you see a looney singing to himself driving a blue classic wagon, that would be me
  4. Hi Iain, I'd love to come along for another run, see what effect my new exhaust manifold has made. Obviously without the aid of a crystal ball its hard to know the date, problem is I do a lot of weekend work, at work, and can rearrange things to fit in with this, any ideas what dates he has in mind? Do you have any contact details for Chris as I wouldn't mind getting a price for a piggy back ecu upgrade and remap? Cheers, Col.
  5. Yeah Alice Cooper presents the morning show, one of my fave singers, happy days. Ill try and pop up some photos when I get there, I wonder if I can fit a flat 6 engine in my engine bay....would they miss an engine from a 911 I wonder
  6. Hmm looked at doing the job the other day but found that there are two bolts on top and one on the bottom holding it to the intake manifold and the TMIC is in its way. I'll have to take it out and refit a replacement oil pressure sender at the same time whilst its all out, bummer
  7. Ah thanks mate, yes it was a good one, was spoiled for the whole day. I got one of those Pure Highway DAB radios for the car, so I can listen to Planet Rock on the road to work now, happy days, rock on! Not only that but I got a driving day at Rockingham circuit in a Porsche 911 Turbo, oh momma - I'll have to bring plenty of spare pants that day I would have replied sooner but I saw that the site was down, I never thought to check the http://forums.sidc.co.uk url first duh!
  8. There was a 330S at Cotswold Subaru the other week getting prepped as i was having my hub and bearing replaced Its a lovely bit of kit, Simon there was singing its praises so much he let me have a go in it No only kidding, he did like muchly tho, as did I
  9. Cool many thanks Iain, from what you have said explains, on my multiple searches for cleaning this item, why people have had idling issues after they had cleaned it, it may have been because they removed the screws to get at it rather than unbolt. Dare I assume that as long as the engine is cold that the water at that point in the system wont leak out everywhere as the IACB comes off, I'm working on that theory No alas I hav no atmospheric valve, im a true blue recirc kinda guy
  10. Hmm I'll put up my findings after I have cleaned it all up, assuming it all goes back together correctly.
  11. Ah yeah I've just twigged
  12. Well it doesn't pay to beat round the bush does it I must check the local schools for bush beating courses, anyone know??
  13. I use the Highworth and Burford/A40 Shell too, there's also one just outside (2 miles) of Lechlade on the way to Fairford too, never too far from a decent supply of go faster juice
  14. Nice looking scoop , I would get one but I'm after an inverted on for when I get my front mount fitted and they don't come in carbon Thats a big ass rear spoiler too, should look good on the car, would look even bigger on my wagon tho
  15. I was wondering if anyone has cleaned their idle air control valve recently. Mine seems to be sticking after steady runs on the motorway and backroads to and from work. As I come to slow down, stop and then wait to pull away I see the revs dropping down to 100 to 200, hover a bit and then as the throttle is blipped a little it fixes itself and things are back to normal. I have read a few threads where poeple have removed the IACV and then used cotton buds with carb cleaner to wipe away any built up residue and this has sorted the problem. They also mention to check the state of the gasket that sits under the IACV where it sits above the throttle body. I'm also getting a constant whistle from the IACV which makes me think its sticking and as the air rushed past inside it and this maybe another indication that it needs cleaning along with the idle issues. This noise started off like the sound of a a vacuum leak but has now got a lot louder and is constantly there. When i put my ear to the IACV i can hear the air rushing inside it, and when I cover the IACV with my hand and listen again the noise almost goes indicating where the noise is coming from it. Has anyone taken their IACV off to clean and come across an issues doing so or had any problems with the gasket than can perish and hence needs replacing? I did read that the two screws holding it in place are real soft and so care is needed when removing them, are there any issues when repositioning the IACV when is has been cleaned ie position of the IACV wrt the throttle body? Cheers, Col.
  16. Thats a nice looking car, classics are always a better looking car by far Want to swap for my wagon then The wheels work well with the shiny car, you just have to keep it that clean for ever now, and the pink decals just have to be bigger on the side, if in doubt say it loud Negative comments could have been done in a more tactful way, takes less to write 'i dont like it' or even not post at all, but I guess were allowed our opinions
  17. I had two senders for temperature and pressure similar to these. The temperature was a sump plug type device but instead of putting it in the blanking plug in cylinder number 3 I had it fitted into the existng sump (after a bit of work) plug to get a better temperature reading. The pressure sender was fitted into the blanking hole for cylinder number 3 without any hassles. I didnt use the blanking plug under the alternator as it was easier to use the existing sump plug.
  18. A scooby for virtually free, lucky bugger
  19. Nice looking car you have there, having the mirrors and skirts painted to match makes the world of difference to the look of the car
  20. Hi Stevie, I'm not sure where you are based from, but I have had me wee car lovingly cared for by the Cotswold Subaru guys in Hailey just north of Witney, Link. I have been taking my car there for a good while now and with their help its still going well at 176,000, I would thoroughly recmommend them. Their number is 01993 843295 Cheers, Colin
  21. Happy (albeit belated) New Year to you all, I hope it was a festive one.
  22. Nice looking car, minus the wee bump, I'd love it as a project car, but I reckon the boss would have my cahunas if I tried..
  23. Wow nice work on the mods How did you find the car to drive with the catch can and carbon canister removed, did you vent the catch can output to atmos or recirc back into the intake? Do you find any weird smells with the vented gases from the canister removal and/or vented catch can gases, I dont want to gas myself whilst driving I spied a mini air filter on the rhs of the engine bay, is this the catch vent ? I've been toying with the idea of doing the same thing. I've made a homebrew catch can for a few quid and all the connecting pipework but not had the time to fit it as yet. Where did you get the inlet manifold insulators from? Cheers, Colin
