About Stevie_h

  1. Any good tips or tutorials on this. Found one on RB25.com. Not sure how different that is to the 2.0L engine.
  2. yea, think it is hard for everyone... except me.. me job is a stable as a rock.. No chance of me taking a pay cut nor loosing my job.. But i hate every min of it. typical hey. Im in the forces, so could transfer to REME and mechanic training with them, but that defeats the object of leaving the army
  3. well thanks for all your advice. lol Didnt have any replies for ages then poof. lol loads of them. I know, im kicking myself for leaving it to late. I posted the same question on a mechanics forum and tbh the response wasnt good. Everyone advised me not to do it. Keep it as a hobby. Dont think any of them understood what my aim was. They thought i watched too much "chop shop" and based my desision on that. If i could turn back time, i would have learnt mechanics at college and then gone into motorsport mechanics.. That would be a dream. But age is against me now, so probably not a viable option for me. I was thinking of becomming a good mechanic, not a cowboy, and opeining my own business, specialising in performance cars or scoobies, with rolling roads the lot.. That would be awesome. I know some may say that it was probably only a dream, but tbh no body here knows me and knows how keen and eager i am. I thinking returning to college now, would not work, evening classes maybe, but not full time college.. I understand that you need a bit of paper and experience. Most places i know of seem more keen on what you have done rather than what qualifications do you have. Realistsically, i sont think that it would be a viable option.. Purhaps keep it as a hobby. Im still extrememely keen to learn the trade, so maybe some evening classes ?? Not sure
  4. Hi hi, Hopefully someone can help. Im currently bored as hell in my current job and looking to move on. Only problem is im not overly qualified in anything. I really want to pursue a career as a vehicle mechanic, but feel i may have left it too late. I have to work a years notice at my current job before i can leave, by which time i will be 26 years old. What training would i need to do to become a mechanic and what is the best route to take. I have a feeling that my current employer may release me for a course, but im not counting on it. The only other factor i have to consider is the fact that im currently supporting my wife and two kids on my current wage, so if there is anything i can do now which would mean i wouldnt take such a big paycut when i leave would be appreciated.. Thanks in advance
  5. Hi guys, Hopefully picking up the new engine soon, but wondered if there was any garages nearby that you would recommend. I need to take my engine out and put a new one in.. If all else fails, ill be taking the engine back and do it myself. But would prefer a proffesional to do it, or at least someone with a bit of know how

  13. Some guy i knew said he sold his scooby for £22k recently. The buyer was a foreign person and paid with i think a banker draft or something similar. Anyways, stupidly he let the car go without it clearing and funnily enough it bounced.. Police didnt wat to know... What a muppet. But cheers for the update
