  1. Cheers Higgy only hoping for just over 300bhp so thinking one of the £150 exedy ones and a lightened flywheel from ebay. Hoping to be on track but i'd luv a pax lap if the queues no 2 long
  2. Just my clutch will need to be done sometime and the gearbox looks bloody heavy but i have access to a pit so it might be easier than lifting engine out just wondered. Does the new clutch mean it can be re tweaked to it's full potential now ?[]
  3. Looking forward to seeing the beast on track. How long did it take to do the clutch and is taking the engine out the easiest way for future refrence ?
  4. I just got rid of my E36 M3 evo and it was ok but no subaru [] but from what i've heard the E46 is a far better machine.
  5. May be able to get a set from a 95 STI RA, shocks aren't the pink ones. Any good ?
  6. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=6dsiq-biGGY Andrew wood in a sunbeam 1980's My claim to fame is that i rent my house from him.
  7. Its free so why not at least you can say you've had a blast in a new porker.
  8. Already ordered eibach uprated ARB's and whitline droplinks just waiting on a delivery. The shocks i was offered were through glenburgie as ebay is barren. I'll email them and ask about version 5/6 RA Cheers Steve
  9. Well i've narrowed it down to 2 options 1- New coilovers from the snet GB which are more road derived and should be around £500 2- Pink kayaba STI originals £260 + vat (second hand) Mostly road driving and the odd track day, think all the adjustments available on the coilovers including camber, corner weight etc would make for a great car if i get it set up right but from what i've read the originals were pretty good. I'm thinking originals but not sure about second hand ? Any more opinions ? Steve
  10. Well a few more bits done. Front 6 pots fitted and working, fuel pump on, engine bay had a bit of a blast with the karcher, turbo heatshield removed in prep for this weekends job of fitting my wrapped downpipe now that i have my chip, Thanks Gus [] Got some standard vents and possibly lights coming which will be a vast improvement over the boyracer ones.
  11. Didn't even know i had a regional organiser in the borders [:S] Unfortunatly i'm far too lazy to organise anything on the scale of the june jaunt but would anyone come as members are pretty thin down here although boy racer wrx's a plenty [au]
  12. You can see the adjusters in this pic I did think about changing back to shocks but is there anything that wouldve been removed when fitting the coilovers that i would need ? Obvoiusly someone breaking a p1 would be the best bet as i could get the whole struts. I do plan some track days but the roads i drive on most are pretty bumpy so something that copes with that would be a better option plus it's likely to cost less than a grand which would be nice [] The bit i was turning was the small nut right on the top. Steve
  13. Rolling road day first i think then probably knockhill if i get my suspension sorted but crail is probably a no no as i had a look and really don't want to change the clutch as the gearbox looks bloody heavy and i think a couple of hard starts would kill it. Be assured though it will be used and abused as subaru intended at every opertunity [] (not on the road of course)
  14. Skyline looks awesome real mean [H] Trying to get my mate to bring his 335d coupe to one of these as its chipped and bloody quick []
  15. Don't like yoko's at all but f1's are the shot £90 a corner fitted at my local tyre place for 215/45/17 and thats the extra load ones, have heard the shoulder can wear but cant be as bad as toyos as the don't last even though there pretty sticky. Mate had michelins on his 330d beemer and couldn't fault them apart from price. Dunlop sp 9000's are rubbish got a set cheap for the last car and totally spoiled the feel of the front end.
  16. Ok got my brakes done so while in the garage thought i'd look at the suspension. It has JIC gold coilovers with adjusters on top but front offside and rear nearside just spin while other do move about half a turn each way but no real clicking. Car sits real low and i had thought maybe the springs were compressed too much but the shocks don't seem to be doing anything as theres not much resistance once you get it bouncing (solid at first) but when you keep bouncing it just feels like its the springs working. On the road any bumpy road taken at speed (more than 30mph) results in the rear trying to resemble a stottie ba and chuck u in the hedge and is now worse due to the front hauling up and waving the back end in the air a bit more due to my tyre shredding brakes [] Ordered eibach arb's and whiteline drop links but don't think they'll help that much as it does seem to be the shocks the are fecked. So what do i do ? Break the piggy bank open and hope the clutch doesn't explode and just splash out on a new set or can i get the adjusters fixed and shocks regassed ? Steve
  17. All sorted [] Cheers for the advice ended up being a bit of trapped air, started bleeding at the front and by the time i got to the rear offside there was still some old fluid and bubbles coming out. Probably helped that i wasn't in a hurry to get out on the bike like last time [:$] but it was sunny. Only problem now is there almost too good and the back feels like there doing nothing so might have to upgrade to some 2 pots after a new clutch and shocks [] but thats another thread. Steve
  18. I have a 95 STi and am getting a scoobyecu for it which comes pre mapped for your mods (induction kit, decat etc) and is a lot cheaper than a power fc so i don't see why yours couldn't. Steve
  19. I presume your existing one wont fit a 5 speed ?
  20. 555 would be great but 444's a pretty good start with a slipping clutch, looking forward to seeing it in action at knockhill.
  21. Had a look at mackays and for not much more there's this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2001-Subaru-Impreza-...1QQcmdZViewItem I know bugeyes aren't everyones cup of tea but if you want to be a bit different [H]
  22. As long as there serviced and not thrashed when cold seem to be as good as any other but i have heard plenty stories of P1 and type R engine failures. I looked at a STi wagon at cupar a while back which had a replacement engine and still rattled its **** off. Useually a few on pistonheads and fleabay Steve
  23. Form filled in and sent
  24. Tricky where you about ? as there aint many of us from the borders on here i'm just outside earlston and have a white 95 STi and would say have a look private if you can as there are loads of bargains going and when going for an older car there's no point paying a premium form a trader. You might start out standard but guaranteed it won't stay that way [] Steve
  25. Master cyclinder was totally empty as i drained all the old fluid and replaced with dot 5, brakes worked fine before hand. Wilwoods have a link pipe on the bottom and a nipple each side on the top. First run i went on back end was locking up so bled it again and slight improvement but i think there may still be air in there now. Ordered a brake stopper throught scooby net GB and will have look and see if i can knock something up to replace the bias valve or get an adjustable one.
