  3. Very nice example of my favourite model - I've had a '99 and currently have a '00 . Next Glasgow meet will be on 1st Thursday of November at the Brewers fayre Hillington . Central meet is usually at Hungry horse , Springkerse Stirling . You will be made very welcome at either/both . - keep an eye on the 'events section , as both PaulC555 (Central area R.O.) and myself always post details of our meets there [] Hope you can come along , Al.
  4. Since Optimax changed to V-power I have noticed a bit of an improvement in 'grunt' and better MPG . I've also read tests where Tesco 99 came out better than Optimax . So it will be interesting to compare Tesco 99 and V-power . Al.

  6. Graeme , I don't think that the new-age "electric control for raising and lowering the hight of the lights" will be much different to the '99/'00 Classics "electric control for raising and lowering the hight of the lights" I'm pretty sure that the kit comprises of bulbs , ballasts and wiring . and doesn't change headlight units or beam-height adjustment motors ! Al.
  7. Simply a no-no on club trackdays - any form of timing is considered 'racing' and not allowed . But I don't think that a spectator noting and comparing times would get into any bother [*-)] . . . I know that I often use my mobile phones stopwatch to take laptimes when I'm there - purely for my own interest . Al.

  14. I like , its similar to my scoop . I have mine to duct as much air as poss into my top-mount for reasons mentioned above - more than just aesthetics . I'd have them painted DBM to match the car though , but then I spose that the carbon is meant to be seen . . . So ultimately it is up to you , it is your car [] Al.
  15. A wee bit dear for us unfortunately []. But I have a couple of McRae items that I'll be putting up for raffle or auction very soon to raise some money for our Santa Cruise fund , including a signed photo of Colin and a framed bumper sticker from the 1985 Lombard RAC rally signed by Jimmy. Watch this space [] Al.
  16. "Q: Now this one I'm particularly keen about. You see the wee button on the top of the scooby steering column . Whatever you do, don't touch it. James Bond: Yeah, why not? Q: Because you'll release this section of the roof, and engage and then fire the passenger ejector seat. Whish! James Bond: Ejector seat? You're joking! Q: I never joke about my work, 007. Al.
  17. Now you have taken it too far Peter [:S] lol [] Al.
  18. Psst , hey Imy [:-*], I'll get the alloy wheelnuts to you at the weekend - d'ye want gold or blue ?[] Oh , and don't forget to visit the party shop for helium for your (my) tyres . And keep fattening-up Grant - he's not sussed that one yet [] lol, Al.
  19. I've had bikes ever since I could ... Fizzies to Harleys . [] Got my bike licence at 17yrs 22days went straight onto a '68 650 Bonnie [H] I bought it in boxes for £300 and rebuilt it all myself - sold it when I was 35 - never regretted anything more in my life , than selling that bike [:@] Vowed I'd never drive a car , ever . . . . . but I got an offer of a cracking job @26yrs ... if I passed my car test within my 3-month trial period ... I did and got a van , another van , more vans , then estate cars ...escorts , astras, Never been a car fan ....'till I discovered A car that went like and sounded like a bike - no crash-helmet required , no waterproofs required AND you couldn't fall off it [] Now I'm an R.O. for a car club lol [] Al

  21. Too quick Gareth [] You'll be wanting a 'Trophy' [] 10/10 mate 900cc Triumph Trophy . It is a cracker too [Y] Al.
  22. My new toy ... Is the same colour as my Scoob . Has 3/4 the amount of cylinders. 1/2 as many wheels . 1 seat for 2 people . 100bhp. And was made in Blighty in 1992 . Can anyone guess what it is ? 'Other' SIDC members need not reply as I told them last week [] Al.
  23. As Squiggle has light-weight wheels , I think it is only fair that my Advans should remain on Imys RA till this is concluded . . . And that doesn't mean that the weigh-in should take place in 2008 . . . . . IMY [] lol [] Al.
  24. Spray a bit of WD40 on the 2bolts then on the rubber hangers , undo the bolts , by which time the rubber hangers should be slippy , push them out . And in classic Haynes manual style 're-assembly is reverse of the dismantling procedure' [] A wee bit of exhaust paste will prevent it blowing - jobs a good-un . . . . "bit-'o-bun" If you don't have ramps , back onto the kerb [] Should take less time than it took for me to type this [] HTH Al.
  25. I agree wholeheartedly Cal. We all went on a wee run once ... and the posts made after the event suggested that my car was very fast and that some of the guys were struggling to keep up - truth was , my turbo was utterly shagged (no fins left ! ) and could not produce more than 0.5bar !. I just drove smoothly and avoided any heavy braking ... trying my best to read the road ahead . If I remember correctly , one cars brakes even went on fire that night . My only mods at that time were front strut-brace and powerflex droplinks. Al.
