Personally I think they're pretty straightforward to do, but if your not too confident then get someone to do it for you. Don't forget that if you do it wrong then you'll press the middle pedal and nothing will happen []
I've got a standard one in the shed Dean. Its off of my old one so its an MY98 and does not bolt onto the intercooler. The standard valve is a re-circ though. Not a VTA
Discs and pads need replacing whenever they run out.Theres not a set amount of miles or a guidline to use.
Just because your pads are low that doesn't mean that you need new discs. Run your finger over the face of the disc to check its still nice and smooth and that there is not a big lip around the edge of the disc. If both of these issues are fine then you need pads only.
If you don't abuse the brakes then I'd go for Mintex 1144's. They work well from cold bu tdo fade under constant abuse. They are around the £110 mark.
If you want brakes that work much better when hot then I'd go for the Ferodo DS2500's. They are a good pad when heated up but don't work so well when they're cold and cost about £160
Graham Goode Racing do both although I'm sure if you shop around you'll be able to get them cheaper.
Try Essex Subaru Breakers. People have posted on here a couple of times about them and its always been good things. Call Mike 07747 618130 or Jamie 07795 363295 or on a landline 01268 572149
