When you think of all the people from the uk who work in the oil industry in parts of the world where our standards of living are a huge way off it makes you think for a moment. I for one am quite worried about this, in some cases we cant tell where the food is coming from, how it is being prepaired and how clean these places are! I dont want to put panic into folk for no reason but think how easy it is for one person to be working in any of these "Poorer countrys" one day and then arrive home the next. In Baku just now there is a bit of a problem with this flu, a few reports have been made of birds droping down dead on rigs, one was found on this one yesterday, FACT. There are a number of procedures in place to make sure that no one can come into contact with the bird that was found. One of the ministers from down here mucked up on telly the other day whilst being interviewed about a number of swans found dead, at first it was only said to be about 15 or so but he blurted out, by mistake, that over a hundred had been found, oopps. steve

Heading home from work the night, have borrowed the works pick-up till the scoob get's it's heart replaced, anyhoo, i was heading into town from Dyce direction and as usual the traffic build up before the Hadagaun roundabout was building up as usual. this time there was an unusual amount of folk changing into the left lane way before the roundabout, strange i was thinking. Driving a bit further the reason for this was apparent, a Rover 214 had broken down in the outside lane, Bugger me thinks but someone had stopped in front of this chap to lend a hand. Me being me thinking that if i was in that situation i would be really thankfull if people stopped and lent a helping hand, so as i was passing i asked the chap if he wanted a push to the side of the road, big smile and a thanks and there was me pulling into the pavement and out to help the stranded road user. So the thing is, here's me and this chap, one car and a whole bunch of rush hour traffic, GREAT, i did my best copper impression and being a big sort of chap the cars did stop when i stood out infront of them, so we set about pushing the stricken car to one side, Now, this is the part where you people should pay attention, the chap who owned the car was incharge of steering whilst hanging onto the door pillar and pushing at the same time, i was pushing the car from the rear and we were heading towards a nice handy bus stop just a little way ahead, all i heard next was, STOP ! STOP ! Oh Christ ! STOP ! and a little crunch as he steered it into another mota on the right Oh, i said, the chap was now a little trapped in the drivers door and said car, so i had to run round to the front of the car and push it free and release the guy from this vice. To say the driver of the other car was a little bit upset is an understatement, but thats what insurance is for, right? So, thats why people drive past when you are stuck at the side of the road, things can go very pear shaped very quickly. again beware the good Samaritan
