  1. Yes spectators are more than welcome, and there's no charge either, even if you want to go out as a passenger! bring your own helmet though if you can, as Knockhill will ask for a £10 deposit, of which you'll get £5 back. Cheers John
  2. Yes, the date has indeed been confirmed The reason it's a few pounds more expensive on the website is to cover the credit card charges the club incurs. If you want to pay cash on the day you can, but please note that your place won't be confirmed, and you may find yourself well down the reserve list and not get the chance to go on track. Booking on-line also makes the admin side for me much simpler, as I just get a list of cas and drivers from the club shop, and don't have to trawl through loads of e-mails looking for people who haev said they will come etc... John
  3. Just had a phone call from Ronnie at Wheels Around, who has some excellent prices on Toyos if anyone is interested. 215/40x17 would come in at about £60 each, fitted!! 225/45x17 would come in at about £75 each fitted. 225/40x18 would come in at about £90 each fitted The other tyre sizes available are 195/50x15, 195x/45x16, 205/40x17 and 215/35x18 He would need a few orders at these prices, as he needs to buy a few sets to "qualify" for these prices. Fitting would be at his place in Auchterarder, or at the next Knockhill event. If you are interested, then it's best to contact Ronnie on 07711 577148 He's also hoping to get some sets of Toyo's new track day tyre, which he is hoping to offer for free evaluation at the next Knockhill event on the 24th July (He'll get a couple of sets mounted on wheels for people to do a few laps with, then move them onto someone else). John
  4. Tonight - see you all there about 7:30pm. Old Mill Inn - all welcome. John
  5. Hi Nick, glad you enjoyed your time at KH, and we'll hopefully see you there at the next event. Some great photos by the way, not had a chance to llok at them all yet. John
  6. The Escort was actually being shared by 5 different drivers, who built the car over the winter. For some, it was their first time to drive the car, and first time on track, which although isn't an excuse, does go some way to explaining the situation Hope to see you all there at the next one - Saturday 24th July, same time, same place John
  7. Glad you all all enjoyed the day Couldn't do much about the weather, but at least you got the chance to experience greasy, wet and dry track conditions. Mark in the Ferrari was deliberately trying to get sideways out of the hairpin, and overdid it a couple of times The Escort Cosworth was indeed just doing some set-up work, so only a couple of laps at a time here and there. Was certainly going very quick towards the end in the dry line. The red Impreza was actually Ronnie from Wheels Around (wheel and tyre van) - he said he thoroughly enjoyed himself as well Roll on the next one on the 24th July John
  8. The Subaru Impreza Drivers Club (SIDC) are holding their Scottish National Day at the Grampian Transport Museum in Alford, on Sunday June 20th (yes I know it's fathers day!). Alford is located about 20 miles west of Aberdeen, on the A944. The Transport Museum is easy to find, taking a right turn in the centre of the village. We are planning to make it a great day out for the family, with a bouncy castle/slide and face painting for the kids as well as the usual show and shine competitions, trader stands, sprint track in use etc. for the adults. Click here for the poster Best of all, entry to the event will be completely FREE of charge, and alongside the large turn-out of Imprezas, we would love to have a wide selection of display stands from as many motoring clubs as possible. There is no charge involved - all you need to do is to give me the contact details for your club/organisation, and the number vehicles that you would like to bring. Obviously we would struggle if everyone said they would like space for 20 cars, but we'll try and be as flexible and generous as possible. I'll need final numbers by Monday 14th June, so we can finalise the layout etc. If you can also help with the running of the event during the day by volunteering as a marshall say for 30 minutes at some point, it would be greatly appreciated. We'll also be producing a full colour, multi-page brochure for the event, which will again be given out free of charge to everyone who attends the event. Each car club that comes along, will get mention in the clubs section (hence the request for contact details!), but we are also offering advertising space as well, with a nominal charge of £25 per half page A4 full colour advert to cover printing costs. All you do is supply the artwork, and we'll take care of the rest. Final artwork must be returned by Monday June 14th at the latest to be included. Trader stands are also more than welcome, and again a nominal charge of only £25 will be made, again to help cover our costs for running the event (bouncy castle/marquee hire etc). If anyone is interested in a trader stand, or knows someone who might be, then please get in touch with myself to sort out the details. We'll also be operating the sprint track during the day, and there will be a small charge of only £5 for as many runs as you can fit in during the day. Places will be limited, and allocated on a first come, first served basis on the day, which starts at 9am, and goes onto 4pm. For the hungry ones amongst you, we've sorted out a quality burger van, and ice-cream van to be there on site all day John
  9. Not been able to log on so frequently as normal. Madly busy at work, and also in the process of selling my house - so hardly a spare second to go on-line Hopefully normal service will return shorthly. BTW - 29th still on, almost fully booked now See you all there John
  10. Sent them an e-mail requesting space for 10 cars, power point (so we can run the videos again, possibly with a projector and screen this time!) John
  11. Knockhill have got a track night for novice drivers only on Tuesday 11th May 6pm-8pm, cost is £50 and it's the perfect opportunity for those that have done the track day school but have not done a proper track day yet, or for those who have never driven on track at all. Contact Knockhill asap on the usual number, or via Knockhill Website to get booked up. Ideal for spouses/partners/friends etc who have always wanted to do a track event, but have been a bit worried about joining in on a day full of experienced people. John
  12. Don't worry, we'll be asking for lots of help from everyone on the day At the moment I'm looking for local volunteers to put up signs advertising the event, dropping off flyers at garages etc., plus people who can help out with getting vendors along on the day etc (most likely to be local companies) Cheers John
  13. Sorry for the late notice, but I'm not going to be able to make the OMI tonight at 7:30pm. Chances are I'll still be here at work until midnight Can we re-schedule until next Tuesday (11th), same time, same place. We've got lots of stuff to arrange for Alford on the 20th June. Cheers John
  14. I've got lots of photos of the stand. They are all 2Mb files at the moment, so will need to be shrunk in size before uploading anywhere/e-mailling, and I've not had a minute to do them all yet, but will try and do so this evening. Cheers John
  15. We did have terrible problems with the wind and rain on Saturday, which meant we had to take the marquee down. We were planning to leave it up overnight, but even with it tied down to two cars, it was lifting off the ground and running the risk of a) getting broken, damaging some of the cars nearby (our own!). Knockhill staff were there until 8pm, trying to control one of the huge marquees in the main area, which also had taken off in the high winds (it weighed over 1 ton in weight!!), and was dangerously close to many cars, other stands etc. As Dougster had the only wagon, he had to take it in his car. On Sunday morning, at about 11:30, it was still raining and miserable, with a strong breeze, so we took the decision not to erect the marquee, and Dougster headed off to Doune as planned to watch the hillclimb. Typical Knockhill weather - it then started to dry up, and by about 1pm, the rain and wind had stopped, and a dry line was forming on track, but there was nothing we could do by then By the end of the afternoon, it w3as actually quite pleasant, and although not warm, you didn't need 15 layers of clothing to keep warm. Later in the afternoon, we did get all the Imprezas lined up in the paddock area, and handed out a few flyers for the club. There was even one Impreza that managed to get out on track with all the supercars (Diablo, TVRs, 911s, GT40, Exiges etc.), and did quite well, lapping the Esprit turbo about 3 times, and the Diablo twice. The track was still wet though All in all it was a very good weekend out, and very nice to meet lots of you there - we'll just have to make sure we've got more suitable transport for the marquee next time. John
  16. Registration at 8am. Track open at 9am Only a handlful of places left for members now, so please book up quick. Shop closes on Wednesday, after that it's too late to sign up! Cheers John
  17. First Tuesday of the month as always. 7:30pm onwards at the Old Mill Inn. All welcome I can't make it tonight (working late), but I'm sure a few will turn up to discuss cars, events etc. John
  18. As it says above. The SIDC have booked Knockhill on Saturday 20th March from 9am to 1pm for an open pit lane session. At winter rates, the cost is only £45 for SIDC members, £50 for non-members. Quality track time doesn't get much cheaper than this. Book up shortly, as places are going very quickly Book Here Cheers John
  19. Of course Sorry for the late posting of the notice, but I've been madly busy at work again See you all there at 7:30pm onwards John
  20. The July date is very likely to change, so I wouldn't adjust your shifts to fit in this one just yet. John
  21. Got some provisional dates for the SIDC events at Knockhill in 2004. All Saturday mornings again: 20th March (9am - 1pm) 29th May (9am - 1pm) 24th July (9am - 1pm) *this date may change* 11th September (9am - 1pm) I've not had prices confirmed from Knockhill yet, but they will hopefully be very similar to last year. As soon as we've got the dates and prices confirmed, then we'll get them put up into the on-line club shop. Best Regards John
  22. Just a reminder about the re-scheduled Aberdeen monthly meeting tonight. Lots of stuff to discuss tonight: Alford - what can we do, who's willing to help out beforehand and on the day etc. ADMC Granite City Rally - we have the opportunity to marshall a whole stage by ourselves as a group. Would be a great day out, good fun, get close up to the action (you can stand where others can't!) etc. Who all would be interested. Knockhill - got some provisional dates through I'd like to discuss before booking them. Other events and ideas for other events. Plus all the usual gossip, what everyone has been up to over the past month, wish everyone a happy new year etc. All welcome. 7:30pm onwards at the Old Mill Inn at Maryculter/Peterculter. Hope to get a bumper turn-out tonight John
  23. Please note that due to circumstances beyond our control, the Aberden monthly meeting due for tonight (6th) has been re-scheduled to next Tuesday (13th) January at 7:30pm. As usual, it's held at the Old Mill Inn on the South Deeside Road at Maryculter/Peterculter, and all are welcome. John
  24. I'll pop along on Monday lunchtime (I work only a mile or so away). Can't make it on Sunday, as I'm booked in (first weekend off for a while!) for the karting. John
  25. Come on chaps and chapesses - time is running short and we need to get a few more names confirmed for the karting in Glasgow. Cheers John
