For those of you who can't join us Some of the best driving roads in Scotland, captured on camera for you Click on a starting point, click on faster, de-select the map, and choose a picture size to match your speed of Internet connection. Then sit back and enjoy some great driving roads. You'll notice the complete lack of traffic on some sections When you get to a junction, you'll be given the choice of whether you want to turn left or right etc. John

Better late than never, here's the plans for this year's TDE, which I've been sorting out with a few of you off-line, as I've been manically busy here at work (not had a day off since the 12th October!!). This year the Tour will be based in Ullapool, and we'll be staying at the Four Seasons Travel Lodge Hotel (www.ullpaoolhotel.com) at a cost of £24 per person per night on a B&B basis. There's another hotel next door if this one fills up. BEARING THIS IN MIND, IF ANYONE IS PREPARED TO SHARE A TWIN ROOM, THEN PELASE STATE THIS WHEN BOOKING, AS IT WILL HELP US GET THE MOST NUMBER OF PEOPLE IN THE SAME HOTEL. Can you please phone 01854 612905, and quote SIDC when you book a room. The rate should be £24 per person per night on a B&B basis, with a 3 course dinner being an extra £12 or so. Dinner will only be available on the Friday evening, as the chef has a planned night off on the Saturday, however there are plenty of other good eating places in Ullapool. This year, we aim to explore a lot further north, up and around Lochinver, Tongue etc., exploring some fantastic roads which have normally been out of reach due to our southern starting position, and wasting more than an hour getting through Fort William etc. Starting much further north, gives us a lot more options for routes, and I'm sure we'll some great ideas in during the next week. Best Regards John

Back to the top. There are more people taking part than listed on this thread (many don't access the BBS), so book up quickly. Send either Cameron or Dougster and e-mail for details. Should be a great event John

Hi all, I've booked the karting place in Aberdeen (Kartstart) on Friday 5th December from 6pm. It will be a 2 hour team endurance event in teams of 4 drivers, with 30 minutes practice. This means each driver will get a total of almost 30 minutes driving during the race, and about 7 - 8 minutes driving during the practice. The team captains have to decie how long each driver is out for, when to bring them in, when to do the fuel stop etc. Tactics play as much a part as speed in deciding the winning team. It's a non-stop race, and it's simply the team that has completed the most laps during the two hours which are declared the winners. We'll have a handicap system in place, which means that the lighter teams will have additional stop/go penalties applied, to even things up, and keep the racing close to the end We need a minimum of 30 drivers, and ideally 8 teams of 4 people. The event will be open to everyone, so get your names/team nominations in quickly to secure your place. Don't worry if you don't have enough people to make up a team, or even if you are on your own, as we'll make up teams as required. The cost is £36 per driver. We'll also be arranging a curry in town afterwards, with a few beers for those who are interested John

Just a reminder for everyone, that the monthly Aberdeen meeting will be held as usual at the Old Mill Inn at Maryculter on the SOuth Deeside Road from 7:30pm onwards. I might be slightly late in arriving tonight, as I've got to work late, but shouldn't be later than 8pm. All welcome Cheers John

Great day out, and I'd like to thank everyone for putting on such a fantastic display of cars and generally helping out. I believe that ours was one of the most popular and most visited stands in the whole show! Anyone got any good photos they could post up ? John

I need a big favour from someone please Is there anyone out there who will be travelling from the Aberdeen area down towards Glasgow in the next few weeks. I've got a couple of tyres to give to Iain Ferguson (yellow Elise owner who goes to all our track events, and does the videos etc.), and need to find someone who can take them down for me. The tyres are all wrapped in cling film, so they are nice and clean and won't mark anyone's upholstery or boot carpets. It looks like I may be working weekends for the next month or so, so won't be able to get down with them, and Iain is running close to the legal limit on his tyres. Can anyone help ? If so, then please drop me an e-mail and we'll get something sorted out. Many Thanks John

These are always top days out, and I'd recommend to go along to one any time. It's a great chance to meet up with fellow enthusiasts, and even get your car checked out for free (engine diagnostics using a genuine SUbaru select monitor) if you are an SIDC member John

We've recently appointed Dougster as the Ayrshire & Glasgow regional rep, and I'm sure he'll reply soon. There are no regular meetings in the area at the moment, but I'm sure he'll be quick off the mark to get something sorted out for you John

We're still in the process of sorting it out. We'll be moving to a different hotel this year, further north, to avoid the frustrating A82 to Fort William etc. Once finalised, details will be published here. We are looking at a weekend in early November. John

Sadly I can't make it, but there will be lots of cars there I do believe that Numptie will be there, and will take down the SIDC banner for you to display, plus some membership forms etc. Should be a cracking day out, and I'd recemmend everyone to go along if they can. John

I think you can do anything you like at Glenrothes airfield
-
I'd say get along to Knockhill on Sunday from 1pm - all afternoon, and also to Crail on the 28th as Pete has suggested. Not sure how many are going to Crail - as there's been mixed responses from people who have been to previous events. Aberdeen members meet up once per month at the Old Mill Inn at 7:30pm, first Tuesday every month, and I'm expecting other RO's in Scotland to start similar meets shortly. Cheers John

Dougster - of course you are allowed to mention Snet Your message about lights is a bit cryptic though ? Other venues - who do we contact about hiring Glenrothes airfield, and I believe someone else was looking into the possibility of Edzell (just north of Dundee) as well - I believe they do bikers track days there at the moment.
