  1. The next week? Get her topped up with Shell's finest and head out on a run, and you'll have those brakes bedded in in no time - what better way is there to waste a tank of fuel!!!
  2. You should offer a wee drive of your car to the buyer, that might generate some interest Alan!!
  3. How did the mods go today stephen? Interested on the whitelink droplinks (rear only) but might need to wait till after xmas. Red-stuff pads make much of a difference?
  4. Got to agree with the Dougster on this one.... naaaaa!!! No thanks
  5. There were a few people "pulled" last night by VOSA at the Falkirk cruise thingy. My front windows do not match the regulations apparently, but I was "let off". First time i've had any hassle, and i think i'll stay away from these sort of events from now on, especially since my car has aquired a new small dent on the drivers door, probably someone leaning on it when I wasn't loooking. Makes me mad
  6. Yep..... although you should have asked for a free one!! Unfortunately my car appears to have aquired another dent, which wasn't there at 6pm last night when i washed & chamois-dried it. But it was there this morning so i can only assume it happened last night. Not a happy bunny
  7. Anyone taking their Mrs to this? If so, Dawn will tag along but if not she's staying @ home spending all our money on eBay (apparently)!!!
  8. I've had a light-smoke tint on mine since I bought it, and i've never had any problems.
  9. Adrian Flux require 24 months experience with this type of car, and i've only had the car for 6 months Previous cars have all been sensible oil-burners
  10. Greenlight have now quoted me £897, but only for me. Doesn't really matter as the Mrs. doesn't drive the car. Waiting on keith michaels getting back to me tomorrow. That company were suggested by a few over on scoobynet.
  11. Damn that i won't be attending that event Might be worth taking a wee donner up, just to sample the cakes
  12. Tried Tesco.... they won't touch without a tracker fitted.
  13. mmm...... empire biscuits. My favourite Well done Jodi
  14. Elephant as much use as a choc. fire-guard!! Too many mods apparently, and they wont provide cover at-all for a car with a dump-valve fitted. confused.com only came back with one quote (admiral) and it was over £1800.
  15. Geez Ally..... calm down bud!!!! You'll burst a vessel if your not careful there
  16. A-plan has been my best price so far. Also tried confused.com, and waiting to hear back from greenlight. Seems this accident in May is bumping up the price - also doesn't help that i've been done for speeding 3 times in the last 5 years Ah well....... i expected about £800 so if A-plan is about a grand then it's not too bad. Bye-bye goes the new springs though.
  17. tried bell direct - no quote (too many mods) also tried adrian flux and they were over £1500
  18. Yup - Group 19. Was considering booking my car in to get the prodrive springs fitted too - that ain't gonna be happening now
  19. Spoke to Rob @ A-Plan, and he reckons that, although it's 7 weeks till my renewal date, he can get it to be around a grand. Thats with all the modifications, plus my speeding convictions, plus the wife added, with the two claims there has been this year on her car insurance (someone hit her car in Tesco's and left without leaving a note - it needed a new quarter, then the drunk/drugged pedestrian hitting it in glasgow at the end of may (i was driving that time - the car needed another rear quarter on the other side) - the pedestrian was charged with the damage caused but his case is still waiting to be heard). Also covers business use too. To be honest, i was more expecting around the £800 mark - was i being unrealistic?
  20. ....from Norwich Union..... £1237.00!!!!!!!!!! Eek
  21. A good point Paul. Brian - also a decent point of view but it's not so much the fuel economy thats the problem, it's the cost. Yes, the two are linked, but if you can afford to drive an average of 400 miles per week (say) at the current cost of optimax, it might not be affordable to drive those same 400 miles if the price has went up 20p per litre. That's a tenner a tank. Now don't get me wrong, i suspect the majority of owners could afford a tenner a week more but for some others that might be a bit too far, especially those of us who use our scoobs for work AND pleasure. (i bet those of you who do this won't see your companies increasing your pence-per-mile allowances!!)
  22. Andy..... my insurance co know about my tinted windows, 18" wheels and the STi-style spoiler. Nothing else. I am, however, adding the rest of the mods on when i renew in October. I don't think i'd tell them about the dump valve tbh, but maybe. After all, if it only takes 10 mins to fit then if anything was to go wrong it could easily be swapped back for the original (assuming, of course, that you were still able to do this and not laid up on a ward with two broken legs!!)
  23. ......before you seriously considered selling the scoob & buying something sensible? Just asking as the price of crude oil has risen again today to a new record high after the hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. I think it's 97.9p at my local Shell.
