  1. I could be up for this but I really don't think my car will get onto hypertechs rolling road, i'm just too low

put your name down mate, am sure it will go on, my mates P1 sits really low and goes on no problems.....

  2. Spoke with engine builder and tbh if the Solarise was to be fitted there's another couple of months off the road , and already been off the road for 4 months. So no joys there. The extra cash will just pay for all the trimmings for the engine bay im a stikler for detail so will be looking the dogs well hopefully..let me know how your is coming on and have you started running it in yet...

    Cheers

    Chris

spoke to alan on thursday, they were just waiting for a couple of water pipes which should be there by today at latest, once they have them there wasnt too much left for him to do, so hopefully all the new goodies will be on their way up here tomorrow, then its just the fitting before the fun starts :P

  3. we sure have had our fair shar of hiccups along the way mate.....i was very close to breaking mine but just couldnt bring myself to do it in the end, and have done the same as you by throwing loads more £££ at it  hopefully not too long til they are both finished and back on the road, really keen to see how your new setup goes, looks v impressive...

  4. Alright guys

As some of you know sold the scoob and picked up an M3 yesterday now im looking to do an oil change on it just for piece of mind even tho its only half way thro its 15k service interval,

Iv been hearing lots of good reports bout the Prolong range of stuff and iv tried the octane booster and it worked really well knock was right down with it,

so thinking there engine oils could be a good investment as they put a gaurentee on the engine that the oil will help it and not damage it

as long as the car is under 100k miles.

I also have it on good authority that GP Motorsport have now become a dealer for the stuff in Scotland (So am sure the Cusco Kid will have a deal or two)

Any of you guys tried it?

    Cheers Greig

seems to be pretty good stuff mate, im sure dunc at hypertech is a dealer for this stuff too, worth giving him a shout.....

oh, and wheres the pics of the new car??

  5. Nice one Scott should be a large smile on your face soon then lol.... Just heard that the Solarise would be a bit of a nightmare fitting on my car Pat needs to make a new loom so his ecu will mate to mines. New sensors need to be fitted to the engine and new looms also made for these sensors. Andy F say's I'll be looking around £2000 installed and mapped. So i think i will need to go to Option 2 fitting the Simtek... hopefully this is a easier option and not so pricey. :D just means i can spend more money on other wee mods...he he

    Regards

    Chris

the simtek gets a good name too mate, dont think you will have any problems with it at all..... the price for solaris does seem expensive, saying that, i paid that for the gems when i got it.... i like your style - save money on ecu and buy more mods, saving money not an option when it comes to subarus.lol

  6. I could be up for this but I really don't think my car will get onto hypertechs rolling road, i'm just too low :rotfl:

hope you manage to get the numbers up Paul, im like Peter in the fact that my car not going to be ready in time, even if it will be at hypertech for the event :D it would be a real shame to see the day cancelled, like i said in my post on the events section, the most important thing about the day is the charity, so even if the cars are all standard, it makes no difference, its the taking part that counts :boxing:

  7. the brakes on my car are definitely 1 of the best mods ive made, after a session at KH a few years back the brembos were just not up to the job IMHO, just ask dunc @ hypertech(he was part to blame as well B) ).. got a set of AP's for the front and the improvement was like night and day...when the back discs and pads were ready to be done i decided to change the calipers too, roger clark were in process of getting APs for the back too so i ordered them and after what seemed like a massive wait they came through, the braking on the car is superb(from what i remember since its been so long

  8. Nice one scott, you will be getting exited, what ECU you going with ??..I think that who's doing mines or C&C not too sure how long untill you are on the road.. best of luck did you rotated kit arrive then..its a Newage you have ??

    Chris

sticking with the gems ecu for now mate....should be on the road in the next few weeks, am expecting everything to arrive end of this week...rotated kit has arrived. car is a newage v8 sti....

  9. took my car to hypertech today to get diagnosis ov my tapping sound and its a piston or conrod thats slapping engine is going 2 have 2 come out and be sent off for full rebuild dam dam dam but might up the spec you only live once its only money :lol:B)

sorry to hear that mate....what engine you going to go for now??

  10. Scott totally agree with you mate!

I saw your car the day it came from AVA and the big power hike was still a closely guarded secret, will be chuffed for you when it is back on the road mate.

If it was not for Duncan both myself and my mate John's cars would have taken much longer to diagnose.

As an example of how committed he is, i can't think of many garages that stay on until midnight on a Friday to get customers cars out of the doors fo a Saturday morning as promised.

He also ran about like a mad man writing a failure report for my mate the very day he was due to go of on his holidays when he should have been winding down and relaxing (He doesn't know the meaning of the words!!!)

That and Alex makes a braw cup of tea and the wee man knicks all of his banana milkshake every time we are up there and he doesn't bat an eyelid.....:)

Hopefully he will also get a good turn out for the Horsepower for hero's event he is running all free with every penny going to the Jock regiments...........Hats off to the man!!!!

I wouldn't care if i lived hundreds of miles away i would travel to let him work on my car!

thanks scotty, shouldnt b too long now.....

  11. thats a bit of a bummer mate but as you say will give you more time to find the ideal car :)

water under the bridge scott,i think we've all been guilty of making costly mistakes of some description in the past.looks like both of you have allocated the engine work to the right people now though.have yet to hear a bad word of either chy or alan.

thanks Jimser, appreciate that.... am pretty confident there wont be any hassles with this engine, alans service has been top class and ive heard nothing but good reports....

  12. :) It's all been said before I'm lucky that Hypertech is on my doorstep, Dunc & the team has looked after my cars for years & does a top job :D,

In saying that as far as Mag is concerned :D Hypertech is a sweary word in my house & only means one thing more ££££££££££££'sssss :)

Only kidding she really doesn't bother just never say no when it comes to decorating or modding the hoose

    Bobby

  14. Got the car booked into Hypertech this weekend on the basis of recommendations on this site. Cam Belt, Water Pump, Auto tensioner, Oil and Filter Change and general service. A few quid mind although a few quid less than the stealers!

good show mate, you wont be disappointed.....my bet is it will be the first of many visits, once the mods start it will spiral

    scott

  15. I saw yours up there today mate. It will be worth the wait.

i hope so mate. sure it will be, dont know what duncs more excited about, seeing it finished or me giving him peace when i get it back.lol

  16. Am affraid i am in the same boat as scott. Many years ago when i had my S2 RST i took it to them to get some engine work done and less than 15mins i had one dead engine and they point blank refused to warranty the engine.

AVA are a no go for me too but that just my opinion they well may do other work better now

nope, they are no better. my car went there on the advice of a friend who had his sapph done by them, to be fair, his car went really well, but not without a number of issues..i got caught up in the heat of the moment chasing power and ended up wasting thousands of pounds on custom fabrication stuff, twin plenums, twin throttles, custom manifold and exhaust plus a load of other things....car was making good power before, 487bhp on a dyno dynamics rolling road, i wanted more so let alan try all his ideas. after over a year of them having the car, the stuff is finally all fitted and mapping starts, number 2 bore picks up, engine needs rebuilt. i let alan spec the new1 exactly as he wanted, big mistake...... i get the car back to run in, which i did, albeit with it burning more oil than fuel, excuses made for why its doing that, but i leave it with them to sort before mapping it again.... a few weeks pass and i go through to see how its getting on, the car is sitting on the dyno and i start hoping....alan asks me to come through to the office where he tells me that my car ran a big end while he was mapping it the night before.....i later find out that he does not wear det cans while mapping, he thinks he can hear det without them apparently.... the oil issue was still not addressed before he started either....and like you craig, no responsibility accepted...

i got car lifted and brought home where i had it stripped down, unearthing a load of faults and issues with the way my car had been built by them. i got my engine sent away for a report, more horrors, bore clearance double what it should be....the results of how bad a mess they made of my car are still showing and being sorted.....

anyway, the nightmare should soon be over thanks to the top service/help and advice ive had from dunc and alan jeffrey......im fully confident that now the car is back being looked after by hypertech there will be no more issues...

  17. Feel free to ask him how much to fit a FPR, 3 port boost solonoid and a diff oil change ;-)

Might pop up next week to check the place out

just give him a phone on 01324 812212 or drop him an email to enquiries@hypertechscotland.co.uk and he will sort you out....

  18. Do they really know their scoobys then?

someone mentioend they were a honda specialist

they are classed as "japanese specialists", but they are able to do any cars mate.....

  19. if you look at yours/peters comments above you will see that you were both doubting the cars power output.a genuine mistake in the ad (re the injectors)as the guy is probably a bit like yourselves with more stages than a rally season.

so while giving out the friendly advice you could also have cost the chap a sale.

the clue that the car power output was genuine was here

THE CAR WAS PART OF TO TOTB 06 SUBARU TEAM AND HAS BEEN PROVEN AMONG THE COUNTRIES FASTEST SUBARUS.

PROVED AT ONE STAGE IN 2007 (NOT SURE IF STILL THE CASE) THE FASTEST EJ257 1/4 MILE TIME.....11.2 @ 127MPH

not sure about you but peter should know what power needed to run a time like that without a crisp packet lol

the clean handed keyboard tuner comment was actually a joke mate and more aimed at peter but if i offended you then i apologise.

fair point mate, over reaction on my part, with you quoting me then making the comment i took it as meant at me, although clean handed tuner is probs about the right description

    my apologies for the overreaction......

  20. What was the AVA disaster? They did all my mapping on my last car (not a scoob)

What else do Hypertech do? Are they tuners, mappers or just fit parts?

Hearing good things about them and thinking of popping up

Do they give advice on whats needed to make them faster?

too long a story to go into im afraid, lets just say it was a very expensive mistake and not 1 i would like to see anyone else making, hence the reason i would advise anyone against getting them to work on their car....

dunc would be happy to spend time talking mods and advising you on parts/mods needed to get to your desired goal, he doesnt do mapping yet but does have andy f up quite a bit doing mapping either on the road or on the dyno.....well worth popping in for a chat with him, top bloke and top service....

    scott

  21. i think you'll find that he is in fact running 740's and had made a mistake in his ad.

its quite amusing reading the comments of keyboard tuners who have never dirtied their hands on their own car all the same :gay:

as you say, the mistake was on the advert, and as rallyfever had asked about the car, comments were made ref the injectors as he has been asking for advice on the cars he is looking at. dont see the harm in trying to offer someone some friendly advice, had the advert been correct then he could have been looking at a car which was not as described...crystal ball wasnt working too well at the time..

dont see anything wrong with not doing the work on the car myself, some people prefer to do the work themselves, some people prefer to have it done for them, i fall under the second category. does that mean that people who do the work themselves are the only 1s who are allowed to pass comments on cars or offer advice??im not claiming to be a wealth of knowledge when it comes to subarus, but ive been an owner for a fair while now and had plenty of tuning done over the years to know a wee bit, so to be called a "keyboard tuner" by someone who doesnt even know me is a bit sh*te...
