  1. Thanks Dougs, What is the site link that all that info is taken from again? You back on the road again? Brian
  2. Yeah - that's the main reason for the major works on the road. Also, the barriers round lamp posts as they say people coming off the roundabouts too fast and hitting lamp-posts is common too. He said similar improvement measures were often carried out in West Lothian within budget restraints. The Traffic guy said West Lothian council were one of the best for responding to police advice for improving road design and layout and although more could be done, they were ahead of the game. As for the rear ending problem - as it has happened to me several times - there is only generally one or two reasons for that and that is driving too close to the car in front or approaching a car which has slowed at too fast a speed to be able to stop in time - all in, generally driver error. Hope the camera van was having a break or watching afternoon tele Brian
  3. Swifts/Extreme Motorsport in Whitburn, West Lothian - just off the M8 Junction 4. They are very good, run track day cars, own EVO, Impreza etc and George is an experienced and excellent mechanic (used to work at Falkland Performance). They would do it no probs @ a much better labour rate I am sure. If you need details/phone number etc I will look them out. Brian
  4. "It already comes with an engine, I'm just improving it..." "It already came with wheels, I am just replacing them with 20" spinners..." Insurance company line would be, I am sure, "Great - glad it has improved... that'll be an additional premium of £83 please". Shocking - I may not declare a DV if I had one but I think some insurance companies are fussy about them Brian
  5. Yeah - their whereabout is definately published - can't remember the site but it was updated every day. Try the Lothian and Borders Police site - I reckon it will on there. At a recent talk on Accident Investigation @ Livi Police Station, the traffic police guy/investigator said that West Lothian were reducing actively some of the speed limits (like that dual carriageway down to 50) due to the number of stupid accidents and that currently they had only bought into a share of the use of that camera van. As yet, he said they have no fixed camera sites and had tried other measures first but many were not working. That is why the barrier and slip road improvements on that Livi dual carriageways - daft driving. Origin B2 is the speed camera detector you want! Brian
  6. Me too - 1) Spooks 2) Matt Sti-zlv 3) DRB5 4) WRXMANIA
  7. A quick switch and she'll be on the phone to recovery folk and get a new battery under warranty !!! I'd be careful though - that battery made the car veer dangerously off the road once into a ditch. Maybe I have a Corolla battery in mine
  8. Don't say that - he'll have the battery out of his missus' Corolla in a flash for the buggy
  9. I have heard that Nitromors is very effective at removing dirt from Alloys - and some other stuff to Brian
  10. You get your PM Spooks. I am in tonight Brian
  11. Hey "QEII", Just had to replace the one in the Primera - looked all around to get a decent one/the right one. Eventually I bought it from Nissan as the proper battery for the GT (with 10% discount of course) only cost me £41 including VAT (and getting covered in snow fitting it Tuesday night ). Subaru price - who knows bu it may be covered under the reduction in service parts and basic components they brought in recently??? The best ones seems to be, after my "research", one made by Varta - can't remember the name of it - it has a five year warranty and is designed for extra power on startup etc. HI-Q in West Calder @ the Brucefield Farm roundabout stock em You have P.M. Brian "Subaru Assist"
  12. McRae would no doubt have been off in a big pile of metal too - not really the road conditions to push too hard Loeb, as usual was superb and pushed just hard enough but was always aware of the road. I reckon Loeb for Subaru next year when Citroen stop Brian
  13. Arnold Clark January Sale - motorstore in Motherwell and Vardy in Edinburgh. Buy a Pre-reg smaller car like a punto etc for £5495 often if you look out for it. Buy it with a bank loan - they are stupid cheap at the moment. Loads of superb bargains though on used cars aged P - T reg. Looking hard would easily get something like a Punto T plate for less than £1000. Brian
  14. Eh? I was at the second last Edinburgh meet and at the last just before Christmas in spirit (and so was my liver ). The last West Lothian meet was in December too IIRC? You coming to the Glasgow meet Spooks? Could meet up and head through at the same time Brian
  15. Congratulations the boy!!! See you at a meet soon Brian
